I think it's worth considering you will always find players that think a manager is a horrible person. Was Alex Ferguson nice? Jim MacLean? Craig Levein?

Yet a 'sporting director' is a completely different job. You can be nicer. Certainly don't need to be as ruthless, you don't need too stand up to often idiot players who question every move of your judgement. Like Adams with Sean Higgins who he actually punched. heard that too was well deserved at the time.

Away and shite defending Adams punching Higgins.

Fucking embarrassing you're so hellbent on defending a man who was indisputably a terrible County manager and to do so you'll happily throw other County fans under the bus. Shitebag behaviour.

what backlash thou ? a few people on social media, Clubs pay far to much attention to this kind of thing IMO, its a very small % of the fan base but because its vocal , clubs give it too much credence.

Put it this way if Hibs start doing well 99.9% of the fanbase wont give a f**k about Mckay. I will laugh my ass off watching the " im no coming back" brigade come back with their tails between their legs.

Wonder why a Dundee United fan is so passionate defending the racist homophobe.

Can't believe some Hibs fans are falling for the "he apologised" line, but I suppose some football fans are loyal to a fault.

The thing with boycotting your club? It's hard at the start because you're breaking the habits of a lifetime. But then when you find out that you can still enjoy Saturday afternoons, either going to watch a side who didn't just hire a racist homophobe or just doing other things? It gets easier.

Besides, I don't think we have to worry about Hibs starting to do well...We're not talking about Pep Guardiola, it's Malky Mackay, he's fucking hopeless, his teams are murder to watch & while certain folk will try to sell you on his amazing contacts down south it just means you'll get some loans from Championship teams of players who in 4 years will be playing in the 7th tier for Kettering.

That’s Malky Mackay appointed DoF at Hibs. Just wondering if the righteous amongst us will now be boycotting Easter Road, or does the outrage not fall as far as opposition clubs?

Well, I was unlikely to to go watch any games at Easter Road anyway in the foreseeable future so it's not like I can claim it's a boycott.

But I do think it's deeply embarrassing for Hibs. And more than that, just baffling because it's not like his track record for signings is noteworthy. He obviously did hit big with some of the signings but there was a lot of guff in there too. But of course I'm less emotionally invested in what another club does than the one I've supported my entire life 🤷‍♂️

  4. What on earth would make Hibs do something this staggeringly, mindblowingly stupid?

Even if you ignore all the baggage about him, which you shouldn't, he's a shitebag, his recruitment at County was not exactly great outside of some exceptions.

It's grim that he's already back working in Scottish football.

I've been engaging with some really puerile petit-trolling of the Caley fans, and it got me wondering....  Caley are at risk of going down, despite they should have enough in their locker to survive the playoffs.  If they do, they could quite easily fold as a club, especially if this battery storage scheme is rejected.  As a County fan how would you feel about Caley and their precarious position?

I personally would like to see County and Caley in the Scottish Prem, it would make for great Derby matches and a revival of meaningful rivalry.  Keep your friends close and your enemies closer I say.  All said and done I probably wouldn't want them to fold.

If Caley did go out of business there should be a lynching in Inverness (OK, no there shouldn't, I'm being hyperbolic but people should be raging). There's no excuse for the city to not be able to sustain a full-time football club in the top 2 tiers of Scottish football. It beggars belief how much they've failed to win over kids the last 30 years & turn them into lifelong punters. Maybe it's harder now than when I got into County in '93 because of the prevalence of TV football from all over the world, or because of Fortnite or whatever kids do now, whereas then we were desperate enough for football that watching the local side in the Inverness & District Welfare League was appointment viewing, never mind getting to go to Highland League games in an actual stadium! But still, you can't beat the in-stadium experience. That some investment in energy storage was the only thing keeping Caley Thistle from folding is incomprehensible. None of it really makes sense to me.

But anyway, obviously in the very short-term Caley going under would be funny, but I can't say I hope it happens. For starters, it's more fun for them to be playing in a lower division than County, secondly the games with them are always great fun.

At times I miss the OTB & the former player thread.

With Ipswich going up to the EPL, that's two former players going up with them. Cameron Burgess, now 28yo & the more recent Harry Clarke who despite his rapid withdrawal, was a revelation for us in the RB position, scored a few crackers.

Was trying to remember who Burgess was and when he played at Victoria Park. Wikipedia says he never actually kicked a ball for us so I'm less embarrassed that he rings no bells.

  7. Sonam is right that the 2nd half was pretty poor, but honestly? Coming back from that 2nd half to score the winner was fantastic, we'd have not done than 3 weeks ago. Mind you, we'd also not have had a 2 goal lead to throw away 3 weeks ago. Playing pish & yet still coming back to win is the sort of thing that is the difference between staying up or getting relegated. Certainly very happy Cowie has his first wing, & hopefully we can build from that now. Getting some confidence in the squad.

For me, if I can't get enthusiastic for an injury time win over the time closest to us in the league then I'd stop watching football because clearly it could give me no joy.

Am I recalling this right in that County were top of the second division at the time and flying, and took the lead that night? I was there, but it's a long time ago.

To be fair, we shouldn't have bothered winning the shoot-out, as the performance we put in in the semi against St Johnstone at Easter Road is one of the worst I've ever seen. For a ground we have no bother winning at when we play its owners, we've had some shocking semi finals there.

Almost, Roy McBain scored in the 1st half, Derek Holmes equalised for Hearts with maybe 15-20 minutes left. But we were top of the Third Division that season, won it fairly handily. Pretty sure that game played a large part in County signing Holmes at the end of the season for what seems like silly money now, a Third Division club spending 50 grand?

Oddly my abiding memory of the day was being amazed at Hearts selling popcorn at the concessions rather than just the standard pies and Mars bar. Seemed so big league, I don't know why.

Well, that and the Black Isle supporters bus dropping 4 of us, 14 year olds, off at 2am in a layby outside Inverness to find our own way home.

Tony Bullock took one in shootout v Hearts for County and nearly bust the net!!

Wish he had taken one at Tyncastle in QF year after as Interview Adams, Daisy Ross and I think Billy Herd all missed.. what might have been..

That game at Tynecastle was the first non-Highland away game I ever went to. Fun day out. Wasn't that Adams last game before being sold to Motherwell?
