I have never once seen a kelty fan on here with there eyes closed to the fact that money was driving them through the leagues. Money helps create the enviroment that you talk about. And that enviroment no doubt helps.
its not easy to go through the leagues like they have. Even with mobey being flung at it. It needs to be spent wisely.

My own club are testament to that. Spent fortunes and are still where we started.

There was definitely an element of pretence among their fanbase. A number of SPFL fans including myself were having this same conversation on the Kelty thread (guessing 3-4 years ago maybe, don't fancy searching back frankly) because a few of their fans were suggesting on here that their "brilliant set up" was the reason where they were and were indeed going. It wasn't. They were heavily funded (which is fine!). The money they had was invested very, very wisely - on Championship and League 1 players. As you say, it's easy to get the great dressing room atmosphere when you're outspending the rest of the league and winning games.

Again, I must repeat this point a further time, I have absolutely no issue with clubs spending money to be successful. I (and others) are simply pointing out that it's only when fans/managers pretend that the money isn't the reason that it gets a bit irritating. And I'll say again, we say it from experience of having had the benefactors around our clubs at some point.

FWIW being based in Glasgow, assuming we're not going the other direction, I would love it if EK came up. The more games local to me, the better!

The notion that clubs need to be honest about there “ambition” is bizzare to say the least.
Surely every clubs ambition is to be as good as they can be. Money or no money.

kelty were backed well. Spent the money they had wisely and progresed through the leagues. But this somehow annoyed you because the money men never came on p&b and declared they were minted.
They did create an enviroment for there players, and there facilities for the level were good. I dont see why that would be a problem for you?

If someone on the board of your club won the lottery and decided to plough it into your club, would you be happy with that? Or would the added “ambition” not be for you?

No, that would be absolutely great if we had a sustainable benefactor involved, I'd love it! But I wouldn't be pretending that the success that followed was because of a managers dressing room atmosphere or nice training facilities. I would admit - we are going up the leagues because we have someone throwing more money at our club.

Again, I am sure the facilities and the atmosphere at Kelty were brilliant. But the reason they soared through the leagues wasn't because of that - it was because they had large financial backing. I have absolutely no problem with money getting teams up the leagues. It's fan's pretence that the money isn't the reason that makes people shake their head.

I think it's been said already but it's not so much that these type of clubs are well backed that gets people's backs up, it's when they kid on that's not the reason behind their success. Not a pop at EK as I'm not often on here so can't say if your supporters are like that or not. But when you read the drivel that Darvel fan keeps spouting you can see why folk have a go. "Kennedy can sell a club": I'm sure I could sell a club that pays the best wages as well. Let me know when he gets a gig at Albion Rovers or Gretna and can bring in players "who just want to play for him!!!" there. Utter nonsense.

    This.

It was the same when Kelty were firing up the leagues. Fans constantly claiming it was about the "environment for the players", the "great facilities" etc. All the while ignoring the wads of cash being thrown at players signing from two divisions above. No issue with clubs showing "ambition", but just be honest about what "ambition" actually is. Most of the fans of other clubs that are passing comment on this (including East Fife) have went through the enjoyable but often short lives ambitious phases. I'll be interested to see how Kelty fair now that the source of their "ambition" is heading over to Raith Rovers shortly.

  4. Can only echo the above, that was a horrendous watch for all in stadium. When the pitch is as bad as that, it was always going to be the team that adapted to the wind the best that would win and that was always going to be Dumbarton. Regardless of the conditions, we looked really slack everywhere across the pitch and never got going. Orsi had Newton on toast for most of the game and looked really dangerous. Referee had an absolute stinker, be interested to see the replay of the Dumbarton penalty because from the angle the Fife fans had, it looked an inch perfect tackle. Bovril was good, and Liam's distribution of the victory Freddo's to the away fans was a nice touch!

Well this is awkward. I might drink a bottle of that suicidal chicken sauce.

I didn't mean to post that in such a passive aggressive thread-derailing manner by the way, just thought the good P&B brothers might enjoy a reread!

He made a Sky Series basically talking up how great everything at Qatar was and it was extremely cringy

And for someone as preachy as Neville is to take that cash is for me the difference between him and the rest. He was torn to shreds on HIGNFY.

Back next month and confirmed just this season then it's done.

Good. I think if they stick this season it takes a pretty high slot in my favourite ever series list.

I was gutted reading this today initially, then I was almost relieved. I have loved every episode if Succession, so if they nail this final season, it'll be right up there for me. Too many shows jumping the shark these days.

  8. I was really worried about this but I think it's fantastic so far. Casting seems good and it seems to be following the game really closely, as folk have mentioned some of the shots and the way the characters move is so close to the game. Hope it continues at this level.

Would you go and visit your Granny if you had the flu? Or anyone?

If you genuinely have "the flu" you can't move from your bed so I'd imagine that it wouldn't be your choice. One of my bugbears is folk constantly self diagnosing themselves with "the flu" when in fact they have a cough and are a bit under the weather.

  10. We absolutely love chucking goals in eh? Stirling probably just about deserved the win, not much between the sides overall. We huff and puff but it's the same old story, we're good on the ball in midfield but hardly ever look like scoring and look like conceding from every cross. When we play a slightly better team like we did today we end up bypassing the midfield a lot of the time anyway and trying to find Shepherd which only works about 20% of the time. He might have scored today but Trouten still doesn't do it for me, lots of misplaced passes. We're probably still 2 or 3 good  and ideally experienced signings away from being good enough to really compete at the top of this league.

Because he was running past the east fife player

The east fife player pulled him back,

A foul and as the rovers player had a clear goalscoring opportunity it's a red card

It was an obvious foul if you don't think it was a foul the only excuse is you either didn't see it or you didn't want to see it.

    What a nonsense.

Absolute stonewall red card seen pictures of incident at half time Leslie is away and EF player pulls him down.

    Both penalties where penalties.

Cant send a player off if they have made an attempt for the ball due to double jeopardy rule. (common knowledge)

EF far better team but we deserved a break after last two performances.

Alan Trouten doesn’t miss penalties as we found out when he played for us got away with one there.

Balde and Reilly simply to good for everyone else on park.

Can you two take a look at our highlights and tell me, honestly, if you really think that is a "stonewall" red card? Even if you think it is, which I would find really odd, there's absolutely no chance it's been given for him "pulling him back".

One thing that is clear though is that it's really poor from Steele getting caught that flat footed.

That never looked a red in a million years to me.

Rovers player was through on goal East fife player fouled him straight red

I wasn't 100% sure it was a foul from where I was, so I've on idea how you can be so certain given your angle of the incident.

  13. The past two weeks I've watched us, and have assessed us as a good side with an absolute bucket load of individual mistakes in us. For me the red card wasn't even a foul, Steele got the ball. Would be interested to see the replay for that one if I've missed something. But that happening so early puts the entire gameplan in the bin. Can't fault any of the players today given the circumstances, the officials were absolutely dreadful. Can someone explain why their keeper was not sent off? Is the linesman arguing the defender was covering? That seemed a bit of a stretch to me at the time but again, will see the highlights to judge.

Thought again Millar was excellent particularly out of position. Balde fantastic, the missed pen was poor but he's a really good signing. Hopefully Greig can put his arm round Healy, yes it was a bad mistake but he is a confirmed baller and he needs to keep his confidence up. I think there will be teams willing to take a punt on him soon enough. I moaned a bit about Shepherd last week but he put in some shift today and was key in the 2nd goal. The extra man they had killed us in the end, I felt it played a part in all 3 goals. We looked the better side by a fair bit even with 10 but eventually the players will tire or they will have an extra man somewhere.

Overall the past two weeks feel like 5 points dropped in all honesty. If we can cut out the individual errors we'll be fine for a play off spot. I'd still like to get Trouten off the wage bill and sign someone else to support Shepherd, we missed a penalty today with him off the pitch but other than that I am really struggling to see what he's contributing overall. Seems fairly anonymous.

As an aside, not sure if it's always like that but can we please sort the tannoy/sound system. I am guessing it's run by volunteers which we're all thankful for but it's really a bit amateur, music constantly on and off and the sound blaring. Microphone constantly cutting out the entire time. The microphone was on during the minutes silence making a heck of a noise and there's a constant noise coming from the speaker behind K33 basically all the time.

  14. Is anyone else with British Gas? Last month the £66 went into my bank account, which was what they said would happen when this was announced. On my energy account for last month, I can see a £66 credit followed by £66 charge cancelling it out, maybe it was an error. But this month there's no £66 in the bank account but there is £66 credit to my energy account. Anyone else seeing something similar? Can't help butt feel British Gas have worked out its better for them to credit an account than sending cash directly...

His movement Vs Elgin gets him two goals
His movement Vs Bonnyrigg creates the 4th goal
X2 penalty incidents this week and that’s just off the top of my head.

I think in this situation, it felt more like the Stenny centre halves were able to stand still when Healy/Balde had the ball. So we're maybe talking about different "movement" - I saw Shepherd dropping deep a lot and trying to get the ball over the top but so often we'd see Healy/Balde doing a nice arched run around the box but there were just so many bodies in the way, I'd be wanting the strikers to be moving more in that specific situation.

Just watched the highlights - that Healy goal really was magnificent.
