  1. Don't Edinburgh Uni still play at East Peffermill, which is the pitch in the bottom left of your picture? The highlighted pitches are the plastic (3G?) pitches at West Peffermill.
  2. Of no relevance to the original post but I note that there are 9 former Dunfermline players there. How does that compare to other clubs?
  3. I won a leg... My first round opponent didn't turn up; I hung around another 3 hours before losing 3-1 in the second round. Nearly took out 100 to go 2-1 up, but missed two darts at the double. Then nearly took out a career best 137 for 2-2 but missed double 10; he then goes treble top, double top, game shot and match. Pretty pleased with the way I played, but after the big long wait it was all over so fast. I think Ted Hankey went out at the same stage, so I finish level with him. .
  4. The Scottish Darts Open draw is now out. I've got an afternoon draw for a change, so no chance of a first round exit and haring back to take in the Ross County game...
  5. I guess he might have blocked the bed and sneaked in a cheeky 171 in the middle to keep the chance alive, then finished on 110. Did a moment's research, and Patrick Chaplin claims on his site that Alan Glazier managed it in the Crown in Wetherby in 1977, but it wasn't an "official match". So maybe Evans has the official record.
  6. Wasn't southpaw Alan Glazier reputed to have done a perfect 1001 (17 darts) thirty-odd years ago?
  7. Regarding the financial statements posted by Brian. I'm not sure I follow them completely, but it appears that over the year to 30/06/09 shareholders' funds improved by approximately £1.4m. In the same period, the amount owed to creditors reduced by approximately £1.5m. Directors' loans were written down by 95%. This must presumably account for about £800k of the apparent profit. Where did the rest come from?
  8. Good link - thanks. I agree, practice is a personal thing, but I think you need variety and to enjoy it, and I find it helps if you set yourself goals - like scoring 1000 in as few darts as possible, going round the clock in doubles in as few as possible etc. Like golf, where you have to groove a swing and practice your short game and your bunker play etc, there's several skills to practice - high scoring, doubles, cover shots, tee-ing up finishes and match play - e.g. repeat 501s, if that is your game. Any practice will pay dividends, but I guess being good at doubles can win you plenty of games you might otherwise lose. (I say this as someone who has won one match in 3 years at the Scottish Open...)
  9. Paperwork, schmaperwork - just play him anyway...what harm can it do?? ;-)
  10. Didn't the Marrs/Bonettis have a similar model? There seem to be 2 risks here - one is getting "affairs in order" and the other is there both being talent produced and a market for that talent. Lots of clubs hope they will stumble on a gem and cash in - no harm in that. It's still being around to cash in on that windfall that is more of a problem. As far as I can see from this thread, no-one appears to be claiming that Livi FC is making money at present. In which case either we are all wrong (and huge amounts of income are being generated from elsewhere - such as hospitality/sponsorship etc.), or the club is being subsidised, either willingly by benefactors (some of the Livi 5?) or accidentally/unwillingly by creditors. Given the recent history, I find it hard to believe that there are many willing creditors around, unless people like HMRC are constrained not to ask for money up front. And there seems little evidence of unpaid bills so far - CCJs and so on. In which case, it's all a bit of a mystery (which is one reason the whole thread remains popular...)
  11. I haven't raked through the thread, but a quick search of t'interweb suggests that Livi were relegated after a meeting on 5 August, yet Livi 5 only took over on 13 August. Happy to be put right if that is not the case. I agree that any individual case should be judged on its merits
  12. Who is going to give Livi any credit? From this discussion it would appear that outgoings are exceeding income at present, in which case either someone is lending them money (seems unlikely), the owners are sticking their hands in their pockets, or people aren't being paid (yet). If the last, how soon before another disgruntled creditor takes them to court? Does Mr McGruther retain any responsibility for ensuring the business is run properly?
  13. It was reported at the time (about 5 weeks ago?) when Mr McGruther was appointed that he would decide by 18 August if the club would enter administration. I'd also assumed that adminstration was pretty much inevitable. Is Mr McG's primary responsibility to maximise the return for creditors (whilst co-incidentally getting his fees)? Professionally, is he able to permit the business to continue to incur more debt, rather than liquidate it?
  14. How did any posters on here get on in the Scottish Open yesterday (or today??) I scraped through in my first match but was roundly gubbed in the next round - was just awful - no rhythm or feel or anything...
