  1. If it hadn't been for Covid I'm sure you'd have been able to see your team win the League Cup, instead of looking at a screen. C'est la vie. I particularly enjoyed the open top bus tour in 2013 ...
  2. Being a naive schoolboy when we were relegated back in 1992 I remember thinking it would be quite good playing against some other teams and going to other grounds. If I'd been told that that 13 of the following 14 seasons would be spent in the 1st division..... I realise now just how important it is to stay in this league: opportunities for cup runs and wins / beating the old firm, quality of football, media coverage..... Has really been brought to the fore this season with C19 ravaging the lower leagues. Heading towards the split without having to worry about relegation is amazing. I wonder if there are a few young Killie fans thinking like I was back in 1992. Problem is it's a damn sight easier to stay in this league than get out of the one below. If they go down we might not be seeing them again for awhile.
  3. Watching the penalty back on Alba, the reactions of Fjelde and Watson are telling I think. They complain but their hearts aren't really in it. It's not the kind of vehement reaction you see from footballers when they know an opponent has dived. By the way, definite penalty for the poleaxing of Shaughnessy in the first half. Probably would have got a header in on goal had he not been elbowed in the face.
  4. I thought we were much the better side in the first half and Erwin led the line well. Big Joe going off, alongside the County changes, unsettled us a bit I think and it evened up the game. The penalty was an experienced striker getting in front of an inexperienced defender. Small amount of contact from behind and down he goes. Soft but naive from the defender.
  5. Yogi Hughes must think a lot of this 17 year old centre-half if he's returned him to the side after the defence kept a clean sheet against Celtic.
  6. Wow! So after all the injury chat, we've got arguably our strongest 11 on the park. Can't believe both JDH and Jamie are back in the midfield. Similar happened earlier in the season with JDH did it not? Expected to be out for awhile then suddenly reappeared? Obviously heals quickly....
  7. Not been brilliant performances the last 2 games but no luck either. Deflection on Wednesday and that was a freak goal today.
  8. Are you saying that we'd have been better off with Gavin Reilly than Nikolai Brock-Madsen?
  9. Today's Reilly's first start in Scottish football since playing for us 3 years ago....
  10. Could be a crucial point. Is the equivalent of 2 really, given goal difference. Disappointing not to get 3 but, hey that's us back into the top 6 again. By this time next week, we'll have played the same number of games as United after they've gone to Ibrox and we'll have hosted Livingston and Motherwell. Great chance to open up a wee gap.
  11. Sod's law that months went by where we had central midfielders (Foley and Sheron) pretty much surplus to requirements and now that we've let them go...... On the safe standing, the club is big on maximising "income streams". I reckon there could be a decent number of teenagers who might be tempted to come if there was the novelty of standing at the game with their mates. Where else would they have the option? Arthurlie? Capture them at that age and they'll put cash into SMFC for decades to come.
  12. The last few weeks watching Sportscene I thought safe standing was going in at Fir Park.... Turns out they're just replacing seats. On top of that, new toilets, lights and PA system, a fresh lick of paint and a "digital menu" at the pie stalls. I'd imagine our "enhanced experience" will be along similar lines!
  13. Possible fractured foot for Doyle-Hayes according to Goodwin. Left Pittodrie on crutches and taken to hospital for an x-ray. On McGrath, he's talking as if it may be feasible to delay an op and patch him up to get through to the end of season. Full of praise for Cammy, so I guess he'll be starting on Wednesday in place of JDH.
  14. Great result for United to move a point clear of us but very happy with a draw at Pittodrie. Run-in would seem to favour us.... SMFC pre-split fixtures: HAMILTON, LIVINGSTON, MOTHERWELL, ROSS COUNTY, Rangers, Hamilton DUFC pre-split fixtures: Rangers, Kilmarnock, CELTIC, ABERDEEN Wouldn't rule St Johnstone out of the top 6 running just yet but it'll be a tall order if they lose to Celtic tomorrow.
  15. 2 centre-forwards injured, we can cover..... Obika is looking sharp and Erwin is reliable. If it had been 2 centre-halves.... Shaughnessy and McCarthy injured and we'd be in serious bother! Finlayson for his debut and ehhh Foley, no hang on..... Fraser? Tait? So could be worse. Also, we're 6th in the league!
  16. The role of Lee Sharpe slipping under the radar a wee bit? Goodwin takes the plaudits but my guess is wherever Jim goes in football, Lee will be beside him.
  17. Regarding the financial benefits of a top 6 finish.... Leanne Dempster was on Off the Ball last week and said that the money received from Old Firm fans paying to watch Hibs TV was significant. Even a home game against Aberdeen rather than say St Johnstone would be an additional 5 figure sum you would presume.
  18. That's a real shame. Strange one as well as the assumption was he was sacrificed for Lyness during the week. I guess he must have picked up the injury just prior to the red card happening.
  19. I think it's pretty clear now that we've got a really good St Mirren side on our hands. Would love going to see them in the run in but streaming will have to do. The good thing is most of the team are under contract for next season. Agree with Lex that 6th is ours to throw away now and, if we succeed, it will be our best league season since 84/85 when McAvennie et al took us to 5th. Enjoy it!
  20. Power and Dicker always worry me in the middle of the park. If they dominate the midfield we will be in trouble. Dicker possibly at centre-half today.
  21. Pleased to see that Burke isn't starting for Killie as he's still got that touch of class. 2 young loanees from England making their first starts, both having played very little football recently. Fowler looking to freshen things up?
  22. 1 match ban for a "denying a goalscoring opportunity" red card...
  23. Erhahon had that very strange loan to Barnsley (U23s) this time last season. Maybe, they're sniffing around again. They'd have to get the cheque book out though because he signed a new contract end of November.
