  1. Sean Yates must be due to follow soon
  2. Both are Scottish, although the main commentator Anthony McCrossan has lived in England most of his life. The other is Brian Smith, former Scottish pro rider who rode 1 season for Motorola, was British road race champion and part of the Olympic team in 96 and also the Scottish Commenweath team. His other years as a pro were spent with lower ranked pro team in the UK and the USA.
  3. Yates failed a drugs test in 1989 when he rode with 7-Eleven
  4. I can't see them dumping Tyler Farrar as their main sprinter. Thor Hushovd, World Champion at the time, had to play second fiddle to Farrar which led to Thor being unhappy at Garmin and left after 1 season.
  5. So Cancellera never loses a time trial ... Wiggins (and Froome) beat him on stage 9.
  6. Got lucky compared to Boardman? - Boardman had 7 good years on the road with Gan & Credit Agricole and only retired at the age he did due to illness. Boardman probably over achieved considering he wasn't a particularly great road cyclist. I think alot of people are missing out a big part of Wiggins success and that is Jonathan Vaughters and the Garmin Slipstream team. They changed an average road cyclist finishing 123rd in the Tour to one finishing 4th.
  7. I agree, Wiggins wasn't challenged at all this year and any attack was caught because of the work of the likes of Froome. Would love to see how he'd react to Contador's persistent and high speed attacks. Would also liked to have seen how they'd have coped with the old Schlek double team attack as well as Contador. There was no excitement in the mountains this year.
  8. Will be interesting next year, regardless of whether its Wiggins or Froome who are going for yellow will Cavendish be happy to play 2nd fiddle again, he'll be wanting the green jersey back and don't know whether Sky (or any team) can realistically set out to get both the yellow and green jersey. There's already been talk from his previous DS at Highroad that he is unhappy.
  9. It's one of the things we'll never know but Wiggins didn't get that much time from Froome on the ITT stages (less than 2 mins for both TTs) and he could not match his speed and acceleration in the mountains. Wiggins is a bit like an Ullrich in that he can't jump onto attacks and on several occasions Froome rode Wiggins off his wheel with ease (and remember he wasn't doing this intentionally) and had to sit up and wait for him to get back on his wheel. The same goes for Van Garderen, he should have been BMC's number 1 rider long before he over took Evans for time.
  10. You've missed the point about that statement, referred to Froome having to "take one for the team" and ride for Wiggins because he is team leader. Grand Tour riding, infact all pro road race cycling is very much a team event and if it was an indivdual event Wiggins would not have won the race.
  11. Haha, fair doos certainly eating a bit of humble pie. Never expected to see Wiggins win it and what he has achieved is incredible, however I do really feel for Froome who was by far the stronger of the 2 and if he hadn't to ride for Wiggins he'd most likely have been in yellow himself, but it is a team event. It is without doubt one of Britain's greatest ever sporting achievements and what a Tour for British Cycling with the number of stage wins, particularly by those in the GB road team (4 out of the 5) which sets us up nicely for the Olympics.
  12. Millar has strong ties to Team Sky, very close to Brailsford and his sister is in charge of their PR.
  13. very notible mention also for Valsport Fuoriclasse and the Nomis Glove
  14. The Adidas Nova Mundial were my favourite ever boots closely followed by the Adidas Equipment Velez Traxion then the Predator Mania Copa's are the current choice due to these others not being available anymore
  15. I think some are being overly critical of RadioShack this year, they lost strong riders such as Jani Brajkovic, Chris Horner, Andreas Klöden and Yaroslav Popovych due to injuries so obviously this is going to impact on their performance. Klöden was sitting in 8th position, 6 secs behind Andy Schleck, before his crash and Horner was in 13th position when he crashed. I believe RadioShack are to extend their sponsorship next year, and Matty Busche will be a rider to look out for next year.
  16. Not for me, never going to be a contender.
  17. Not allowed to follow the slipstream of another rider though in a time trial.
  18. Why? Because he refused to help Andy Schleck pull back Contador, why would he?
  19. The main reason Contador isn't performing at his best is down to having riden and won the Giro in May.
  20. You can only dream of knowing 1% of what Phil Liggett knows about professional cycling.
  21. and Greipel takes it from Cavendish, that must be a very sweet victory for him.
  22. Well the "dog ate my homework" certainly works elsewhere Mexican footballers cleared
