The 49ers so far have been steady enough, got to be happy with starting out with 2 road wins. Secondary still looks a bit suspect.

Much more convinced this week than I was last week as felt Steelers were massively over hyped. This week Rams looked a much better team than I was expecting them to be yet we still won the game. My only concern was Purdy missing a couple of long shots down the field. Hopefully not any lingering issue from surgery.

  2. Musselburgh Ath 6-0 Coldstream.

Musselburgh easily through to next round of Scottish cup although the 6-0 scoreline was a little unfair on Coldstream who probably should have scored a couple at least including a saved penalty.

After a summer of getting soaked at most games I got sunburn today.

It most definitely doesn't suit us to lose him, but he may be looking at what could happen between now and January. Loss of form, unlikely, serious injury, quite possible. Southampton is a potential in to the English Premier League for him. If an offer comes in he's going to want to go.

He narrowly avoided serious injury the last time we played today’s opponents.

As much as I would like him to stay I would expect him to want to leave if Southampton make a bid. Just a question of how much we can wring out of Darren Mowbray.

  4. Leith Ath 4-1 Oakley United. As with last week due to other things going on was restricted to a trip to Meadowbank again this weekend. Oakley will be scratching their heads as to how they lost this 4-1 as in the first half they were better team in the first half and should have been ahead by the time the ref awarded them a soft looking penalty. However Leith made an excellent double save to keep the score at 0-0 and then on their next attack Leith went ahead just before half time. Second half Leith manage to score on their first 3 attacks to race into a 4-0 lead. Oakley got one back and Leith keeper produced another excellent save to deny them a second. Both teams played some good football in a really entertaining game.

  5. Edinburgh City 0-3 Hamilton Accies. Was not expecting to get to a game today but DIY at flat was finished quicker than I thought so was able to nip round to Meadowbank for this league 1 clash. Wasn’t a huge crowd but the inadequacies of this ground were shown again with queues to get in and fans not being clear where to sit/stand. Stewards struggled to segregate Accies bams from City’s 12 year old ultras not sure they would have been able to stop anyone determined on causing trouble. Accies won game comfortably with City offering very little. Impressed by Accies sub Ryan One when he came on. Took his goal well and looked good with ball at his feet for a big lad.

Didn’t see any sign of City’s programme again. Have they stopped doing a printed version.

  6. Culter 6-2 Buchanhaven Hearts. First half was pretty close with Culter taking a 2-0 lead before being pegged back to 2-2 then getting 2nd of their 3 penalties to lead 3-2 at half time. Second half was much more 1 sided with Culter running away it. Great entertainment for £6.

  7. Leith Athletic 2-1 Kinnoull. Entertaining cup tie under the Friday night lights at Meadowbank. Kinnoull were slightly the better team in first half and probably deserved to be more than second 1-0 up at half time. Second half Leith came out the blocks quicker and equalised almost right away. Leith then had the goal scorer sent off for a tackle that looked pretty innocuous from where I was sitting. Thought the red card would hand the game to Kinnoull but it seemed to galvanise Leith and while both sides had chances Leith had the better and definitely deserved their late winner. Really enjoyable game just a pity there was only about 80 there to watch it.

  8. Edinburgh City 1-3 Ross County. Comfortable win for County at worst ground in league. City’s goal was a decent strike but they rarely troubled County. Not a huge crowd (400 odd) but queues to get in. Stood behind goal and you were miles from action. Just not fit for league football. No programme either which was disappointing.
