Turning the West of Scotland League into a closed shop is an awful decision. If both teams met the criteria, then both teams should be in the league.

The bottom division could run at up to 18 teams in my opinion as many won't go as far in cup competitions. Then after that then will need to create a 5th Division. The poorer old Junior sides who are already in Division 4 wouldn't be happy with that but surely too bad?

  2. What happens if / when Caledonian Braves, Broomhill, Cumbernauld Colts, EK or Albion Rovers go down and no WOSFL team promoted? Will the bottom team go into oblivion or run at 17 or invite 1 team so 18 teams in Division 4? I know highly unlikely for EK or Albion Rovers to finish bottom but I can see Caley Braves / Cumbernauld Colts being relegated in the near future.

There is a dedicated thread in the "Domestic Cup Football" forum, but a long story short, there are 2 preliminaries, but all licensed sides start in the second preliminary round. The 7 qualifiers are in the first, 1 will get drawn a bye at random and the other 6 will face each other in 3 ties. The 4 teams from the first preliminary round are then joined by all 48 licensed sides, so 52 teams at total playing 26 ties.

The 26 winners are then joined by 16 LL & 18 HL sides for the first round, total 60 clubs.

    Thanks for info 👍

I’d shake your hand right now for a mid-table finish.

That’s the Whitletts players announced I see, now for the Vics ones before they announce Urquhart O’Donnell and Faulds away!

what a total shite show, it’s a red neck!

We can’t be competitive in the prem with bottom of the lower league players that are being signed.

This is looking like the worst Medda squad in years.

Both O'Donnell and Faulds are contracted for the rest of this season and I believe both happy at Meadow for rest of the season at the least I would hope.

We need to give the new signings a chance and I am sure will want to prove any critics wrong and show they are Premier quality.

I don't think we are after any Irvine Vics players?

At least the players we have signed this season want to play for Meadow and no longer come to Meadow for money! Its hard league to compete in with money being thrown about by some teams.

I think that potentially expanding the SPFL is the most sensible way forward.

Either 16 or 18 teams in the bottom league would provide some security for existing league 2 sides, especially since it would mean 1 year of no relegation! Inviting the top 3/4 finishers in the two tier 5 sides to join would also bring fresh teams in.

Then, 1 automatic relegation slot doesn't sound too bad, coupled with a playoff slot.

Yeah the 1 year of no relegation would perhaps be enough for SPFL Two clubs to vote for it plus if they do go down then easier to come back up as with current structure the relegated Lowland based teams will struggle to come back up.

Theatening 30% of a ten team League with relegation is just as crackers as the Conference !

I would love to see an 18 team League Two and 18 team Lowland League with 2 up and 2 down and play off with 3rd bottom v winners of 2nd HL / 2nd LL. Would open up the leagues a lot but I can't see it ever being voted through. Would give the current SPFL League Two teams some breathing space as majority should finish at least 15th out of 18 teams as standard now at Highland League / Lowland League isn't as strong now with money clubs now in SPFL apart from perhaps East Kilbride and ones in West of Scotland League.

Wake up man you're dreaming. But it would be good if a number of LL clubs talked to one another and made this a goer. @Pyramid Watcher get on the blower son.

Is Browns position at the head of the LL now untenable. Given the line he fed the clubs about the conference getting pushed through in time for 2023/24, so as a league must vote to keep b teams in to safeguard the LL's future. Vote of no coincidence seems apt.

Thomas Brown should do the decent thing and resign as should Maxwell. I doubt either will.

Would love to see Lowland League ran by someone who wants to open up promotion and relegation as rest of tiers below have.

Panic is the club.meadow players still signed there but announcing them.nothing to stop others moving in.laughable.

I think both Connor Boyd and Neil Slooves been tracked for Talbot for months if not years and will 100% join you. Both will fit in well with your team I reckon as Mick Wardrope has. Connor is a local lad and stays near Auchinleck I believe and really wanted to join Auchinleck.

I went to the recent Troon v Kilwinning match with a friend from work who loves Scottish football and played for several clubs when they were Junior clubs.  He had no idea that the Junior Cup was no longer what it was, and was amazed that the winners of the West/East/South leagues played off to be promoted to the Lowland League.  I kept having to explain to him what the pyramid was and how all the leagues (are supposed to) feed into each other.

Sometimes I think we are in our own bubble here and the advertising and messages from this level really don't get through at all to the wider footballing support.  I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out that most Premiership fans don't have a clue about the current B Team proposition or that we are (mostly) all part of the same league structure now.  I would imagine even a lot of fans at this level don't truly appreciate how devalued the SJC is now and how the top East teams and quite a few West ones no longer play in it.  We do, because we post on this forum and maintain an interest, but I would reckon a lot of fans of clubs at this level aren't that informed about the politics and just want to support their team.

Totally agree will be a lot of fans at our games that won't know about what's happened with pyramid over last 4-5 years, B teams in the Lowland League, Conference League, 4th Division in West etc and even some people on the committee too. Its only through this and Twitter that most of us keep up to date on what is happening - supporters without access will just go along to games and support their local team and wont care too much about politics of it all.

St Cadocs letting go of their whole team, some very talented players. Fellowes likely to bring in the whole EK team from last season, personally think it’s destined for failure.

The majority of their squad they have just let go would get into most West Premier teams. Will be interesting to see where they go - I certainly would like to see Meadow sign a couple of them.

Brora are consulting their fans so I assume their position might well change. Can't see Gala Fairydean going for it either as they'd effectively vote to relegate themselves.

Thomas Brown is the Gala chairman is he not and one of the main backers of this Conference League?!

  12. 16 hours ago, parsforlife said:

That’s an absolute demolishing of the plan by HL clubs, even the maybe yes Brora have rolled back and said they’re going to consult fans, who If they are like any other fan base will reject it.   We could do with more public no’s but momentum is really building against this.

If 90% of Highland League & Lowland League clubs vote against it plus any in below tiers with voting rights  - eg Girvan, Glasgow University, Fort William, St Cuthbert's Wanderers etc then wont need too many SPFL clubs to vote against it? Need to keep the pressure on though and get more SPFL clubs to consult with their fans as then very unlikely to pass a vote for Conference League.

I say 90% as I assume Brechin, Brora and Gala Fairydean, Broomhill etc may well be for it.

  13. The Junior Cup Final will have at least 10 times the crowd at the same stadium on a Friday night. Fans are voting with their feet when it comes to this competition and doesn't have anywhere near the same appeal as the Scottish Junior Cup - which I have said has many flaws but still appeals to casual supporter of our teams at the later rounds and especially the final.

We need to start spending the cash if we want to compete wae these teams going forward

If clubs start trying to compete with the wages offered at Darvel, Pollok and now St Cadocs it will get clubs into a lot of trouble and will end up in financial difficulties. Just have to let them get on with it and as a Meadow fan I know you are after a couple of our players who have done well for a few years and have been watched by you guys over a long period of time.

At tier 6 level, newly promoted Bishop's Stortford who play 27 miles north-east of London have landed in the National League North with nice local trips to Darlington, South Shields, and Blyth...

I wonder if it would be better to have 3 or even 4 divisions at that level? Then champions of each division going up and 2nd and/or 3rd in play offs?

Agreed, supporter would say something like jury’s out or no convinced. This person goes all the way into u20s and even training, reads similar to another account on here. My guess would be it’s someone with some kind of grievance with the manager.

Definitely a troll, rival supporter or someone with a grudge against management team. It's not even June and I don't even know who we are signing 😂. Been a few players released from clubs in our league I would take at Meadow but can hardly judge the management team when not even had a chance to make their summer signings yet.
