  1. Some intriguing West v East ties for different reasons.

Johnstone Burgh v Dundee East Craigie. Fancy Burgh to win this for obvious reasons but East Craigie are semi finalists last season so will be no mugs and are doing decent in the East league too.

Cumbernauld United v Dundee North End

Cumbernauld going well in 2nd Division after their relegation last season but will North End be too tough an opponent even at home?

    Brechin Victoria v Bellshill

Bellshill flying in 3rd Division. Will they be able to defeat a mid table East Region tier 6 team?

Some fun away trips for some Ayrshire teams supporters and players. Troon away to Blairgowrie, Ardeer at Buchanhaven Hearts, Maybole at Banchory St Ternan and Ardrossan away up at Nairn St Ninian.

Some evenly matched games with teams in the same league including Gartcairn v Rob Roy and Kilbirnie v Ashfield

Sorry but the two issues are linked, at least for the clubs in the LL. That is the reality , like it or not. It is those clubs who have the ( voting) power to make change happen. The situation at the top of the LL is part of that discussion, again like it or not. As I have said before, having one automatic promotion place is demonstrably better than none. The pro- rel logjam was not created by the formation of the WoS, it was just made bigger.

Sad thing is your views are likely widely shared by Gala chairman amongst a number of other prominent committee/ board members in the Lowland League.

  3. Surely by next season there will be a majority of clubs either used to 3 up and 3 down from East / West leagues and ex SPFL clubs that will be happy enough to vote for fairer relegation plus any other teams that already have been in favour of relegation for a few seasons.

Also I noticed Caledonian Braves really struggling this season although they do have Gretna and Edinburgh University coming up soon to pick up points from. I know they would be relegated to West Premier but I just can't see them being happy going into West Premier and then going into freefall down the West pyramid and the plug to be pulled on the club or am I being too cynical and will just find their level?

Also imagine the uproar if Talbot finished 4th bottom and thought were safe but Caledonian Braves finish bottom and then relegate Talbot or any other bigger West team. Will be something to watch out for with West Premier teams many fans won't even know about as will assume safe if finish 4th bottom.

  4. What's been happening at Kilbirnie? Surely their fans must be concerned with their start and they can't afford to go down again? Their used to be quite a few of the Kilbirnie fans on here but went right quiet over last couple of years. Although I do think they should finish above Cambuslang, Whitletts and perhaps Neilston come the end of the season but not guaranteed.

A Friday night game or Sunday surely would have been preferable than Golspie away? Even if up to 5/6 players couldn't make it due to work - Friday usually an easier day to get an early finish for most players - Clydebank would still have squad to overcome Fort William.

I know back when Meadow played Brora / Forres a number of years ago now the vast majority of our players travelled up on Friday night on team bus & stayed over so didn't have such a long journey on the Saturday both ways.

  6. Are new licenses not being suspended at the moment? With that surely the Lowland League should give tier 6 winners some grace period? Or would they rather have likes of Jeanfield Swifts / Haddington than Beith / Hurlford in "their" league...so less of a threat!

Even Troon who have got their floodlights havent got a license as there is so much to it but as Fort William have shown once you are in then easier to keep your license no matter what is happening to your ground!

The thread clearly says GRETNA 2008 can you all please f**k off and take your petty squabbles elsewhere? The club has enough on its plate at present to my mind.

So what division would your friends at Gretna be relegated into - South or West or East?

    Are Dunipace decent Shannon?

I reckon a West equivalent is Rutherglen / Shotts as a mid table East of Scotland 1st Division team. I seen they drew in pre season to Hill of Beath who defeated us last season in Scottish Cup so will be no mugs.

  9. Talbot couldn't have hand picked an easier draw and still some of their fans moan 😂.  I wish we got Wigtown instead of a potential banana skin in Dunipace.

Try being Glenafton first time in Scottish Cup for years and they get Darvel while Beith get a right tough tie against Carnoustie away. Could be a lot worse. If a wasted Saturday then don't go but it's a nice draw to get use into 1st Round without too much trouble.

I had a look through the licensing manual and noted everything different from Bronze to Entry level. Basically a better ground, more qualified first team staff, and stricter admin. These seem like sensible criteria for clubs who wish to play at a national league level - given entry level licensing covers a wide variety of clubs from Airdrie and Cove all the way down to Creetown and Golspie, I don't think it's a bad thing to hold the top 42 clubs to a higher standard.

(5.7 Floodlights - Bronze lights were already an SPFL requirement)

      Bronze
5.4 The Field The field shall be rated in
    “satisfactory” condition.
5.4 The Field FIFA Quality Pro, club to demonstrate annually it meets the standard
    5.4 The Field 95x60m (+5x4m)
5.4 The Field (Actual numbers rather than best practice)
5.4 The Field No other markings on the field
    5.4 The Field Socketed goalposts
    5.8 Dressing Rooms
Match officials room with space for 5 instead of 4
5.13 Spectator Areas Cover for home and away fans
5.13 Spectator Areas Cover for 500 (up from 100)
5.15 Provision for Disabled Spectators Appoint a disability access officer

5.15 Provision for Disabled Spectators PA adjacent seating
6.1 Training and Coaching Facilities for Senior Players Suitable training facilities
6.3 Medical and First Aid Facilities for Senior Players Rehabilitation Medical examination facility (not third party)
6.4 Medical and First Aid Provision for Senior Players at Matches
    Club doctor/paramedic, physiotherapist, medical bag
    6.6 Team Manager/ Head Coach B licence
6.7 First Team Coaches B licence
6.8 Club Doctor or Medical Officer Clubs shall have one
6.9 Club Therapist Clubs shall have one
6.10 Goalkeeping Coach Clubs shall have one
8.4 Finance Manager Clubs shall have a professional one
8.5 Safety Officer Clubs shall have a qualified one
8.11 Annual Financial Statements Stricter, prepared by qualified accountant
8.13 Insolvency Events Not since June 2020
8.17 Attendance at a Scottish FA Organised Event on Refereeing Matters
Manager/coach and team captain (instead of just someone from the club)
    8.19 Diversity and Inclusion
The club shall identify the training requirements for staff and key volunteers and create a learning development plan within the equality action plan.

Seems straight forward enough for most clubs to obtain but I wonder if Pollok and others may need to extend their pitch?

Our covered seating although you think its large at Irvine Meadow is just 490 seats officially but we do have some extra shelters that would take it to over 500.

I do think more than a bit fishy that Stenny chairman has proposed this as they would rather stop any further more promotion to SPFL League Two and that wee extra hurdle for Lowland League / Highland League winners. Was he not the one that said shouldnt be any more relegation from SPFL for at least 2 seasons due to covid.

I am surprised Bonnyrigg and a few others would be happy to accept this as you do know they will eventually make the criteria even tougher to try to stop Linlithgow, Tranent and others in West that could challenge them long term having to spend that bit more cash on facilities or stop promotion.
