  1. No matter the outcome of today's game at Champions Lanark United,  I want

to highlight the fantastic job Tin Pail Manager MARK MacKAY has done in his

first term at Fullarton Park. Pre-Match, not even a win against United would

guarantee them promotion if Carluke Rovers do the business with their games

    in hand.

I had the honour of coaching alongside Mark during evenings in the second

half of last season when he won a treble with Saturday Morning Amateur club

Red Star. Even then he was getting more players to turn up for his Tuesday

nights - double in most cases - than the Tin Pail could muster on two evenings.

His planning - right from pre-season sessions when I was involved again - was

superb, and bringing John onto the backroom staff has been a masterstroke,

further highlighting "standards and a work ethic have to improve here."

Team discipline has also improved, and the Vale committee, who dont have cash

to splash on players, have been behind the manager every step of the way with

their support. Congratulations EVERYONE on an amazing turnaround.

Since it would appear we are going through an interview process we'll probably see daily changes to the odds on McBookie.

Duffy would apply I assume but I wouldn't want him as manager. Possibly as a DoF but there is nothing to suggest we are going down that route.

How would react if caretaker manager Gerry got the job?

Big interview piece and his thoughts on BBC Scottish Football

    website.

Totally agree. John Gibson must be right up there as well.

Played wel at champions Petershill last season. Has taken over

a coaching structure previously ran by John Hillcoat, and works

with young goalies on a Tuesday at the Sir Alex Ferguson Park

(Harmony Row). Also takes 1 to 1 sessions.

    Sena signs for the reserves.

Came through the Jimmy Johnstone Academy.  His mother had

problems obtaining a visa to stay in the country, but that has

eventually been resolved.. Sena's development continued with

the excellent and dedicated coaches at Pollok Under-19s, and

his potential was spotted by the Juniors set-up. From what I

have seen, his best position is in central defence. Juniors manager

Tony McInally has used him in midfield, and he has become a big

favourite with the Newlandsfield Park supporters. Can I wish this

man every success at senior level.

It's clear from the Chief Exec comments that Archibald is not under threat and has a job for life. Quite incredible that the board cannot see what we can all see. I believe that there is now a majority of fans who want to see change in the management team and if we lose this weekend, it will be near impossible for Gerry or chairman or anyone else not to do that.

I have watched the Chief Executive's latest effort on camera... the word pathetic

springs to mind.  Ger... why dont you listen to the fans and if results continue as

they have done - especially a lack domestic wins alone ( which  elsewhere would

result in the manager being replaced) - clear out the entire backroom staff?

  6. BIG thank-you to the family and staff at Diamond Football Company Ltd

for sourcing availability of World Cup Box Shape Nets  for the Tin Pail.

They also arranged for ship transportation and safe arrival after going

through necessary paperwork. Not an easy task as I am sure Secretary

Jim Wilson will verify!  The Vale have also taken delivery of pro corner

pole sets/flags, which like the World Cup nets,  have been sponsored.

:thumsup2  Well done to everyone concerned.  All the manager ( Mark MacKay)

needs now is for his team to boost  their goals-for column and convert

    more of those missed chances!

Another tough fixture looming this week.

Was great to be back at the side of the park on Saturday as we played our first preseason friendly. We welcomed Newshot AFC to Viewfield. Newshot were winners of Greater Glasgow League and League Cup last season so it was always going to be a stern test for our new squad.

This wasn't played as a friendly as the visitors threw in a few meaty challenges early doors. This was a great test of character for the boys who took to the challenge and ran out 2-1 victors. It was a game we controlled well apart from a 15 minute spell in the second half. Some decent performances and a good hard shift. Training tomorrow night nd game against Lancraigs on Thursday night at home.

Clearly some fantastic work going on  to re-establish the great image of the club.

Well done to all concerned. GK Coach

    SIGNING NEWS

Few more players put pen to paper last night for season 18-19. Will confirm all names as soon as they have been processed with the sjfa

Another very warm night ( Monday) for the latest Vale session. Great turn-out

yet again, and good to watch a young Greenock Morton signing in working

with the older goalkeepers - not only attached to the Tin Pail - but also

amateur football and Under-19s.  Did not look out of place.

Attendances by all accounts at every training session have been very good.

Clearly a reflection on the way new manager Mark MacKay has gone about

    his business from day one.

Thats a mug shot lol. Another very enjoyable session with tom and the lads but also chuffed to have resigned for the season its my local club with great men behind the scenes and new gaffer marky is a top man whos really looking to push club foward on and off the park so was a no brainer to ignore other intrest and resign for the tinpail  : )

Don, Goalkeepers have worked brilliantly.  The lads - especially at Under-21

and Under-19 level -  have taken a great deal from 3 sessions, and everyone

has encouraged and supported  each other throughout. A real learning

process for the gks attached to amateur clubs.  Totally agree with your comments

about "great men behind the scenes" - they deserve long overdue success.

The new managers methods are like a breath of fresh air, and it is good to hear

you have bought into his methods by staying at the Tin Pail.  Good luck for the

    season ahead.

Really sorry to hear that. A true gentleman. RIP Dennis.

Dennis had a great relationship with the good people at St Anthony.

Was also manager at Shettleston Juniors and Cumbernauld United.

I always found him to be very approachable on any aspect of junior

football, and I am positive his good friend Junior Gibson, whose

training sessions Dennis reckoned were "top class", will be greatly

saddened over the news of his passing. RIP Mr Curran.

So pleased you are moving forward. I enjoy a wee day out at Fullerton Park. Good luck for the season , think if you can stay on the coat tails of the Gow you will be there or thereabouts.

New manager and committe will greatly appreciate your kind comments. As

yesterday demonstrated ( pre-season training sessions) everyone goes that

extra mile and more to make everyone welcome at Fullarton Park.

By the time clubs have completed around 6 league games a pattern will have

been established at the top end of the division. You take care.
