  1. There were also two other great teams in that division though. This year it's just Greenock Morton and Hamilton when they have a full strength XI out. When they don't have that they get dominated by the worst QOTS side in about 10 years.

In an absolute classic thread, full of P and B gold, this particular nugget has to be my favourite.

What was the score against the 'worst QOTS team in about 10 years' again?

McKee's footballing knowledge and analysis are second to, well just about everybody's.

  2. Not that I want to interrupt the well justified piss-taking, but if I could provide a serious response to this... firstly we were relegation battlers when he took over, although admittedly that may have had more to do with James Grady being manager than the standard of the squad. Anyway, I think next season's the big season for Moore provided we stay up this season. I think we will, for all that our defence is chronic and our recent form terrible. It's easy to say we're back to only five points from ninth place, but we've two games in hand over Queens, we're level on points with Hamilton and Livingston and only one point behind Partick. While another injury to Tidser or Bachirou and continued fuckwittery from Colin Stewart, Andy Graham and Marc Smyth could see us relegated, we should be okay.

Continued lower mid-table mediocrity won't do though, and while the squad's probably too far away from being able to comfortably transform into genuine title challengers for next season, we need to be comfortably top half with no danger of relegation for Moore to be seen to be making progress. It's all well and good to say we're far better in midfield and attack than when he took over, but we're every bit as bad in defence and he signed every one of them, while he renewed Colin Stewart's contract in the summer. You can point to McCaffrey being injured if you like, but the fact remains that you shouldn't be relying on one player to hold your entire defence together, and the cover he signed at centre back, Andy Graham, is miles out of his depth. Evans has been decent at right back, but Graham is horrendous, Smyth has been just as bad without McCaffrey beside him, Forsyth at left back is just as out of depth as Graham, while after he's been injured we've been sticking out of position under-19 players there. As an illustration of this disaster area, we've conceded five goals from corners in our last two games, completely unacceptable at any level. I'm rambling on here but the point is that Moore has to take responsibility to the defence being shite, the defence being shite is why we're hovering between mid-table and relegation contenders and the defence has to be sorted next season if we're going to make any kind of progress. I certainly think it would be a knee-jerk to call for Moore to go just now, but we need some progress next season.

Carry on with the pisstake. biggrin.gif

  3. I gave harrington a +1 for the bit about Big Gus. Absolutely correct. A perennially try-too-hard one trick pony.

Sounds like another guy who used to post on here all the time. Thought people having strokes and heart attacks were funny, thought wife battering was funny.

What has happened to that guy?

Can hardly type for pissing myself at Harrington. A classic breakdown post and you're not even in the relegation spots - yet.

What about all the businesses Morton ripped off when you invented football club administration? Do they not count?

  4. Thistle have been consistently mediocre this season, however we have only lost twice in the last ten games. Even our away form has improved and we've had the same score as you in the cup. Ours was on aggregate but that counts doesn't it? And we had twice the attendance in our cup tie.

Morton had a great start, but the shit hit the fan when Tiddly got injured and you suffered a thumping at Firhill(despite it being close up until 2-0, and some non-entity got sent off). Since then Morton have been consistently shite.

Bottom line best either team is looking at is second place worst for us would be 8th I reckon, and judging by Morton's horrendous form they could be in a relegation battle.

Do you think Thistle would be further up the league if some stupid old kunt gave Jackie an extra half million a year to spunk on players?

  5. This Tidser 'thing ' is quite a fascinating subject for me . Even though I watch First Division regularly , I can't recall much about this guy but I am starting to believe he is brilliant . The Morton fans propaganda is starting to mess with my head. By god , he better be good the next time he plays against us

I'm in your movie - next match he starts I'm considering missing our game and driving to see him play. He must be incredible - you'll be able to tell your grandkids - I saw Tidser play, and they'll look at you with a far away look as they think - 'the old codger got Alzheimer's'.

  6. Morning.

Man goes into a bar. 'Morton FC' he says. Everybody in the pub pishes themselves laughing.

Thought this thread might have been overlooked in my absence. Good old Monkey Tennis though, wouldn't let the side down.

4 points off the bottom, another half a million of Duggies money pished away, ha ha ha ha ha.

  7. And so you take out your endless frustrations by thumping your fingers onto a keyboard instead. I'm glad we got to the bottom of it.

No, my life is far more fulfilled than it was when I was hooring and touring round Edinburgh, where I was based in that phase of my life. Hence I am not 'frustrated'. On the occasions when I do get out on the lash I find it isn't as much fun as it used to be.

I participate in this forum because it amuses me and I enjoy it. Even you have amused me at times.
