  1. Today's game was always going to be hard No complaints from the defence, we were only beaten by a very good free kick Midfield were strong albeit pressed back quite a bit and unable get forward very often Up front is the issue - Curran did a power of running and kept on top of Brown when defending set pieces - but he struggles for pace so gets very little opportunities on goal Schalk has the pace but rarely hits the target with his shots Mikklesen is actually shorter when he jumps than he is when just standing so useless in the air And we've not seen much of McKay to make judgement So yes we do need to address this We didn't see it today simply because it was Celtic we played, but of late the midfield have been supporting the forwards a lot more, Motherwell first half was brilliant.
  2. I'd hazard a guess around 250 or so. With it being a different from usual ground a few more might make the effort
  3. I was out in Dubrovnik at the start of June, and took a day trip to Cavtat First off Cavtat is about 10 minutes from the Airport so that's a plus, the downside is it's also directly under the flight path - so you'll see quite a number of planes especially on a Thursday which seems to be the busy day. Cavtat is a quiet small place split over two bays, small harbour for smaller type boats in one, and a larger harbour for some quite expensive looking yachts in the other. Plenty of water sports equipment hire around the headland between the two bays - and with crystal clear (albeit very salty) water it's perfect for water sports It's about 20 minutes from Dubrovnik by bus (use No 10 bus from bus station at smaller harbour) it goes to Dubrovnik bus terminal but drops off at Dubrovnik old town - but Dubrovnik is a one way system near the old town so it's a different bus stop for the return journey - difficult to explain where the stop is so best to ask when there. Croatia isn't cheap like the rest of Eastern Europe - prices are much about the same as here. But inside the walls of the old town you can double the price of everything - typical tourist trap If you're interested in excursions, the three most popular which seem to run from Dubrovnik (possibly Cavtat hotel pick up too) is Three islands tour- I never did this as I had just come off a cruise and had enough of boats, but it's an all day boat trip to the three main islands around Dubrovnik. Depending which company you go with you'll get different experience. Some do quiet boats with a walk on each island and a fish style meal en route. others do more party style boats with more alcohol than food en route - so choice is yours. Kotor (Montenegro) tour - Again I never did this as I was already in Kotor on the cruise, but if the bus journey is anything like the boat trip into Kotor it is fantastic Easily the most beautiful scenery I've seen. Beat Switzerland, Iceland and the North West Highlands of Scotland Mostar (Bosnia) tour- This is one trip we did do. There was two options when booking either just Mostar or Mostar and the Kervice waterfalls. We did the latter which meant it was a busy day. Only got 1 hour at the waterfalls (could have done with a bit longer) as there is about a 15 minute walk down to them. But they are stunning Mostar is about another hour away, it's heaving though around the bridge area. Everyone goes to see the bridge and it is the only way to cross from the Christian side to Muslim side of the town. You don't need to exchange currency as they will accept Croatian Kuna but they call the exchange rate. But it will still be considerably cheaper than Croatia. Only issue with Bosnia was the boarder crossings. Ours took about 35 minutes both ways (our tour used a back road crossing, so we're in a mini bus) but others saying the big coaches use the main highway crossings as can take up to 2-3 hours on busy days. Dubrovnik area is lovely, you'll have a great time
  4. Could Klok not do the 'Lawson role'? And then allow Brittain the same role as he did last year! I think Klok will only be used as a bit part player this year though given he's a youngster, but you never know.
  5. The Lion added me too, after I liked a post on his page! which was an added bonus as he frequently posts pictures of his 'Lioness'
  6. I hope you're right. But in order for it to continue someone else will have to take over the running and financial costs of running the forum. The last few seasons have been the best in the clubs history, yet it has probably been the worst in the forums history for whining, bitching and generally childness! I've been a moderator ont he site for around 12 years, and lately the number of reported posts etc we get every night is rediculous, and for petty things. I think it's fair to say that Adrian (who owns and finances the forum) along with myself (as a moderator) have pretty much had enough and no longer have the will or time to help run the site. With the invent of facebook and twitter, most rumours and stories tend to be discussed on there now, where you can block or chose not to follow some people. Will be sad to see it go as it's been a big part of my football experience over the years, hopefully someone else has the time and will to take it on.
  7. I see that Roy MacGregor was saying on Radio Scotland tonight that County are in talks with Derek Adams about extending his contract. He's already got 15 months or so of his contract to go, but would be good to get him tied down for another year or so
  8. Personally I'd give the PotY to Vigurs simply because he's been the most consistent throughout the whole season. I would give Richard Brittain a services to County award. He has been a great captain for County!
  9. Mentioned at fans forum tonight that the club will completely renew the pitch in the summer, at present it is a 50/50 sand/soil mix which isn't working. They will go for all sand sub-surface to help drainage
  10. He has already had a work permit, for the UK from a couple of years ago when he almost signed for Crystal Palace. They felt that it was just a case of it being renewed. I'm under the impression that he returned to Cananda last week to get it sorted from that end....
  11. I think he's in the pissed off category as he was talking to Malin about 'flights to Siberia'. Its a good thing that he's annoyed, means he'll be trying his best to get back into the starting line-up. I'd be more worried if he wasn't annoyed about not playing
  12. In a weird way I am happy it's ended. As you say every week pre-match reports were about the unbeaten run, and can we extend it.. So with it now gone, hopefully some of the pressure of being unbeaten has gone. It was getting to a stage that every team were lining up to be the ones to knock us down. Next week sees the start of a new run though!
  13. Not quite, just the fact we have a ticket scramble in that we have more season ticket holders than tickets available for this game - hence the tickets rush tomorrow! Maybe Caley could give us the stands behind both goals..... I'm sure we'll fill the north stand more than the Caley fans will!
  14. The Black Isle Supporters club are still running a bus to the Utd game - planning on leaving Dingwall at 4pm. Straight to the Tannadice, with a chippie stop on the way home. Many interested?
  15. 4pm train out of Alness, into Inverness just before 5pm. 11.30pm train home! Should be a good night - already cleared it with the boss to get off early that day...
  16. Probably be in the minority here, but I felt the tanoy is worse than what we used to have. A lot of people moaned they could never hear the old system, but maybe it was where I once stood but I never had a problem with it. Yesterday though I could still hear it, but it was no where near as clear as I used to hear it - could still understand what was being said so not complaining.
  17. It was training tops and bibs. I couldn't see very much through the gap in the gate, as the game was not for the eyes of anyone other than they staff (although I did see a few workmen having an extended tea break) But what I did see was Kurtis Byrne smashing a shot past Michael Fraser. Quality finish
  18. The squad had a full game on the new Pitch today. - Pinks v Blues! No idea what the score was, or who was on each team, but its good that the team got a full 90 minutes on the park ahead of the opening game this Saturday.
  19. Aberdeen are in Germany Dundee Utd were in Austria Motherwell were/are in Denmark I think Not sure about others
  20. Was it not Getafe that had the football top, if you put it up over your head they had a picture of the burger king inside, so it looked like you were wearing a mask ? Edited to add : It was indeed. Found this picture of it.
  21. Interesting to read int he paper today that there was the possibility of County playing Getafe tonight in Holland, but 'There was going to be a wee bit of finance involved so it didn't happen' Does that mean that Getafe were going to charge County for playing them ? seems strange, I could understand travel expenses or something, but given the two teams are in Holland why would Getafe want to charge another team to play them? Anyway, I'm heading off to Holland tomorrow for Friday's game against Den Bosch. Looking forward to seeing how we compete against a second tier Dutch team. Not sure what standard to expect.
  22. Adams was very restrained last season. He tended to stay out of any arguments, and left the other managers to tie themselves in knots - much like he did to Butcher a couple of seasons ago. Fitzpatrick at the moment is the left back, but as I mentioned above there are others that could also play there - Munro actually played there for a while on Wednesday night ! As for Miller he is more of a wing back style player, and always keep to go on the overlapping run. I suppose a lot depends on the instructions from the management on whether he was allowed forward or not - also on what he was faced with from the opposition
  23. We also have Archie McPhee or Alex Cooper that go into the left back position. While these two are young players, from what I've seen pre-season they are both decent footballers and may well get their chance this season. I'd probably say McPhee would be favoured as a replacement for left back, but only because I think Cooper is more of an attacking player than a defending player. I think the squad is pretty much there now. And it's good to see that it's altogether prior to the trip to Netherlands - hopefully the week away will give the team some good team bonding and they come back ready to go against Motherwell in a couple of weeks time.
  24. I don't know for sure, as I wasn't around in 1929, but the press cutting I saw from the time County were formed was that 'a corner of Jubilee Park was to be renamed Victoria Park as a tribute to the Dingwall Victors' Either way, the fact is Victoria Park is still going to be in the address. It's not going to make a huge difference, and as you suggested last night it will be a mechanism of getting cash into the club as opposed to a donation. And if the club have managed to upgrade the stadium without going to the bank with the begging bowl - then I think he can call it what ever he likes to be honest! I'll wait for the dust to settle but I think I'll start a campaign to officially name the South Stand as the Jailend - I wonder if many people will dip into the pockets to raise a few pounds to cover the costs of changing the signs above the gates!
