Could have been away from home,we have a reasonable chance to get through and maybe get a big club next draw, one game at a time ,A wee matter of the league first,

Ack you’re right really Jack. Definitely winnable and a chance to get through to the League Cup quarter-finals is a lovely prospect. Looking forward to putting Malky Mackay in the mud.

Dundee manager is a bad loser, bad penalty at the end, can't blame Airdrie or ref  for not scoring their pen ,

Not only that, but maybe Zak Rudden shouldn’t have cleared his own first touch like he was playing centre-half for us!

Going to sound negative here but I’d almost rather have got through as one of the unseeded teams. Possibly rather have got one of the old firm in the next round and got beat out and collected the pay cheque rather than the possibility of drawing killie away and getting beat and getting f**k all.

Yeah I agree TBH. Saw this on the Facebook group. It’s a pretty crap reward for winning the group. Sure, it’s not that I don’t fancy our chances against any of these teams. Even the Premiership ones I think we’d at the very least give a game. But on the other hand, losing to a Livi or Ross County in front of a crowd no bigger than the ones we’ve played in front of already, is the worst possible outcome. And if we’re being frank, the most likely. They should do away with the seeding and just make it an open draw IMO. Good news about the prize money.

I’ve been a fan of the Football Nation kits, apart from last season, where the home kit was a disgrace and the away was a let down, but this year is maybe the best set of kits we’ve produced in a long time. Surprised we’ve never gone for the red with black diamond combination before, it’s a beaut! If the rumoured 1924 kit comes to fruition, I hope that is similarly excellent and befitting of such an occasion. Could be a real year to remember kit wise if so.

21/22 probably the one that’s competing with this season in terms of kits, at least off the top of my head.

There’s a lot of nonsense that comes with supporting Airdrie but the diamond certainly isn’t one of them. Best strips in the country.

I’d rather take the payday now than at the end of September. Obviously getting an unseeded lesser team like Forfar, Stirling Albion or Falkirk would be great and something of a cup run would be exciting. But equally, we could get beat by a Raith, Morton or Livi at home in front of a smaller crowd than an average league game which is about the worst outcome possible.

One of the Old Firm > prize and gate money > welcome back Mr McInroy 🤝

Apologies, missed a few of steps.

One of the Old Firm > sign Ally Roy > beat one of the Old Firm > prize and gate money > welcome back Mr McInroy > win the League Cup 🤝

Fantastic start to the season,  I cannot see Hutts playing in the first game,  we signed DJ for the Falkirk 2nd leg,  can see an emergency loan coming in..

This discussion has been done to death and will continue,  it is easier to recruit when a team is winning, don't rest on your laurels,  we are still short of 3 players, not including the Devenney situation (if there is one)..  surely some movement in the next week or so,   rumoured at the weekend that Wotherspoon was training with us as well as the kosovan 18 year old winger Geshi ?

    Any further potential incomings,   thoughts...

Has Euan East signed anywhere yet? If he wanted to try his luck elsewhere, presumably for better wages, he’s running out of options and time. Likewise I don’t think Darren/Agent O’Reilly has signed for a team yet? No idea if we were in for him or would be interested but he is the sort of centre-half we could do with. Brody Paterson? Centre-half and left-back has to be the priority although I still wouldn’t mind another midfielder, especially if Devenny does leave.

We have a great opportunity to get a seeded spot in the next round, which would be a great achievement. Unseeded would probably mean a bigger crowd and a tougher game, I’d prefer seeded and take our chances against anyone at home. Need to win at Bonnyrigg first though!

Looking forward to getting Forfar, getting beat and missing out on the money spinner tie.

  9. Brilliant result and great resolve from the team to stick at it and not let the heads go down. Controlled the first-half, played some nice football, won the ball back quickly and limited Inverness. As @++Ammo - Airdrie++ will tell you 😉, Ballantyne’s goal was lovely. Really good run and shot (and excellent decoy run from McGregor). Telfer’s goal was at the far end so it was difficult to really see it but looked like we did well to take advantage of some slack defending. Looking forward to seeing it back.

We did fall out the game in the second-half however. I know we were carrying a few knocks but we do need some more bodies in as lack of subs or depth off the bench will kill us like it nearly did tonight. Frizzell, who I think was already carrying a knock, and Todorov looked fucked at points. I know McCabe was carrying a knock and Devenny is presumably not playing until he’s sold, but don’t understand why Aiken didn’t come on until injury time. That being said, it thankfully didn’t matter in the end tonight! As said above, brilliant attitude and fight from the team to dig out the result and Todorov did well to finish off the chance.

Hope everyone enjoyed their trip and safe journey home ♦️🇧🇬

Fairplay mate, don't fancy getting home the back of 2 and getting up at 7 for work lol

I’m lucky because I’m off work and have family up there so going to stay for a few days. Will miss Saturday’s game but we’ll have hopefully more or less secured qualification by then 😉

So not to open this can of worms again, but has anyone heard anything at all about signings? We must surely be approaching the twitchy arse bit of pre season?

Muhamet Gashi started following the club on Twitter 👀

  11. Saw McCabe possibly hinting at making a few changes to the team tomorrow. Not sure there’s much scope to do that without largely reducing the quality of the starting XI other than Todorov for Gal, O’Connor for McGregor and maybe Telfer for Aiken, assuming Devenny is getting the cotton wool treatment. I certainly wouldn’t risk anyone who’s not 100% fit but equally we should be going up there looking to play as strong a team as possible and win.

It's difficult because you are signing a guy that you hope never actually plays, so how much of your playing budget do you invest in that position? But as we saw last season an injury to Rae and suddenly there are real problems.

We played the emergency loan system beautifully last season but being up a league makes it harder as your pool of players shrinks but also the quality of the loanee needs to be higher. Even in terms of signing a 2nd choice, any good goalies are signed up to be first choice somewhere, who is going to come in and be 2nd choice all season? It's a difficult one.

I assume as well that an emergency loan can only last a minimal amount of time. So if Rae was to get another long-term injury we’d either have to play Hutton or sign a youngster on a longer-term loan (who probably won’t be as good as one available on an emergency loan) or a dafty like Dean Lyness. Neither of which is ideal. I suppose Rae getting injured isn’t that likely but it’s not impossible obviously. Presumably none of the academy goalkeepers are deemed ‘ready’ since we never see them on the bench and it’s Liam Prunty who warms up with Rae + Hutton rather than any of them?

As an aside it sounds like Bright Prince absolutely ran the show today for the wee Rovers. @airdrieman will be rocking up at Cliftonhill every other Saturday with a false moustache and shades on at this rate 😂

I’ll be doing what the old boys used to do back in the day and spending one week at New Broomfield and the other at Cliftonhill.

Not as much of a dive as O'Connor but that was for us so it's all good. 😁

When they do it it’s gamesmanship. When we do it’s intelligent play 😎
