It's hard to break into the Perth funeral wake racket - and he's clearly seen an opportunity.

As mad as this is, you’re not wrong. 5 days a week saints have 2/3 wakes and get togethers after funerals in the suites. I don’t know how much it costs, but it does start to fairly add up I’m sure. As RG says, we’re not all of a sudden getting bankrolled by some multi millionaire, or at least I wouldn’t imagine so, so our budget for next year will once again be getting slashed.

  2. Let’s not forget that this works both ways, let’s ask Hibs fans what they think of Liam Craig, or Aston Villa fans about Enkleman. Certain teams suit certain players. Bair played almost 40 games for saints and scored a single goal. Good players find a way to score and influence games irrespective of management. He’s found a manager and club who can make the most of his average ability and I’m thrilled for him.

  3. I could post this in the matchday thread, but let’s face it, at this point there’s no hope in there for any sort of reasoned discussion.

Firstly, Dundee deserved to win that game without any real doubt which is frustrating and disappointing. However, we did hit the bar (should have scored) and actually forced a couple of good saves from Carson which hasn’t been the case at all this season. Not that it was good, but maybe there are signs of life up to that might form.

Secondly, taking Kimpioka off totally lost us any minor control we had in that game. By going one up top the Dundee defence totally settled and it didn’t allow Sidebeh to isolate the centrebacks any more. The simple change was Keltjens to RWB and Sprangler on into the middle and take Dare off. I think it was also clear, we had about 4/5 players on that pitch who either weren’t fully fit or weren’t match fit and it showed towards the end.

Also what a fit Drey Wright would actually bring to this team shouldn’t be understated. To actually have an attacking impetus down the right hand side would be helpful.

Finally, as for the referee, he should never be allowed a top flight game again in my option.  Yes he was awful for the entire game and no way near the standards. However, everyone is talking about the Mellon incident, but he did the exact same thing in the first half when Bakayoko and Gordon both went down, he played advantage. Both incidents are clear head knocks and play must be stopped immediately. I’d love to hear what he and the head of the referees are saying to this as he’s broken fundamental duties of care to the players.

    That's his point though.

Isolated, hunting scraps or balls in behind.

Yeah very much this, it wasn’t a criticism of Miovski at all, he doesn’t stand a chance against a three man defence on his own. It’s not his game and the point I was making is Robson should see this and play a system that makes Miovski stand out as the excellent striker he is. The fact he’s got 17 goals this season in that set up and team is testament to his ability.

  5. Think that’s the first goal Miovski has scored against us in 3 seasons, so he’s still none from open play. I can see why Aberdeen fans are annoyed, he’s clearly a capable player and a good striker, yet he had zero chances last night against us and let’s face it we’re pretty crap. I get he’s not got the best away record, but the team should be set up to supply him and whatever Robson picked last night had no width or pace to it. It was like watching saints and frankly with the players available you should be miles ahead of us, but you’re simply not. That’s on the manager from an outsiders perspective.

You're not really saying fans can't complain at a decision if an individual from their club thinks it was one are you?

It's soft as they come and no need for VAR to intervene given Beaton was looking right at it. Most fans would be annoyed at that being against them.

I think this is entirely the point, on both occasions Beaton has been looking right at it, played on and dismissed it as a foul from being 10 yards away. There is zero reason for VAR to intervene on either point as there is no clear and obvious error, unless the criteria for VAR being applied has changed, which it may have. Either way, how anyone can say it’s made the game better up here is beyond me, I was lucky enough to miss the game and watched on TV so I could see it unfold, but for those in the stadium it must have been infuriating.

  7. I can’t pretend to know the person or even have seen the tweet at the time, but what I do know is he was getting it right from a lot of saints fans before the game kicked off. Didn’t know the context at the time, but clearly do now and even then he was refusing to admit any wrong doing.

As for the match itself, don’t know if anyone else who was there felt it, but there was a weird atmosphere amongst the saints crowd all game. Like the support were turning on each other at one point and there was literally no support from the kick off towards the team.

Fairly even game as I expected. St Johnstone looking fit and sharp but we’ve spooked them a few times.

Can see this being decided by one goal.

Think we’ve been anything but sharp to be totally honest. Not playing for 4 weeks is showing with some of the first touches.

Montgomery certainly won’t be cheap! Sure he was one of our highest earners at St J! However he got better and better as the season went on and I’m sure most saints fans would have welcomed him back with open arms. Great signing and seems a good fit for Motherwell even if temporary.

Got pace down the left flank and likes to drive forward. Great at tracking back too. Has been injury prone at Aberdeen and Fleetwood but he was really solid for us so hopefully he’s over the worst of his injuries.

Think you're overselling Montgomery slightly to be honest. He's a good young player who was improving at saints no doubt both going forward and defensively; however I think he was made to look better in saints fans eyes due to how poor we actually were and the fact he'd occasionally beat a few players, which was few and far between. There's a part of me that thinks he was actually helped massively by Andy Considine in the early part of the season as he was defensively naïve.

Would I take him back, yes absolutely as I think he's got the ability to improve on his game, but would I want to rely on him defensively for a full game probably not. He's far from the finished article.

Cant always tell the future obviously, but I can honestly hand on heart say this won't happen. I trust both of us 100% to keep it friendly. If anything thats whats making this tough for me. Theres been no fall out, no acrimony at all. It would probably feel easier in some ways if we hated eachother 🙄

Whilst I cannot talk about marriage and kids having gone through neither, the last sentence I can totally understand. I've spoken on here about how my long term relationship came to an end last year and you're totally correct when you say it would be easier if you both didn't want to talk or it wasn't civil. Having someone or something to blame would 100% make things easier and having been there (still am tbh) trying to explain what's happened will be hard, not necessarily for you to explain but for others to understand. I think others before me are far more qualified to talk about divorce and kids and there are truly some amazing people on this site who are always happy to help, which is really a brilliant thing for anyone going through stuff.

I hope you're doing alright first and foremost, but also the same for your family, can't be easy. Hopefully you've got friends and family around you to help out and talk to, it's something that I didn't do enough of and ended up throwing myself more into work (which isn't the answer). But definitely do things to take your mind off the situation as best you can, whilst also progressing the matters you need to. It takes a lot of guts to post what you have on an open forum, but I'm sure anyone in this thread, myself included would be more than happy to chat more about it, or listen to concerns or frustrations.

But overall, hope you're doing alright and should that change for a minute, don't do it alone.

  11. This thread is a prime example of the standard referees are setting on Scottish football. About 7/8 different referees have been named by fans of various clubs as being “the worst” or “just as bad”. Collum along with them isn’t biased at all, he’s just inconsistent and prone to some mistakes (as are all humans). Now I’m not sticking up for him, since he is an arrogant referee on the pitch and his handling of incidents does lead to issues, that’s what needs to be looked at by the SFA; however Rangers have absolutely no right to demand anything and the narrative that they’re hard done by can be disproven by 41 other clubs in Scotland. They should be getting hammered by the SFA for bringing the game and the referees into disrepute and frankly this is the sort of shite that lead to them striking previously.

As I say, Collum is a poor referee, but then if he is, they all are which is the biggest issue.
