I don’t because the LL/EOS don’t want the SJFA involved and to be fair I think some of the West clubs now feel the same.

I think some Premiership clubs will realise if they don't go now and wait a year they could end up in the bottom Division and lose out on the larger gates for at least two seasons.

I don't know, maybe it's wishful thinking, but even now if they went back to the LL and SFA and said "fine, WR in from next season, we'll absorb new applicants in the top division, we'll accept whatever rules and we can continue to talk about the north and the east" I think it'd be agreed.

I think it's the only possible option from here that avoids a split and an exodus, which let's be honest, is less than ideal. It would be fantastic if we could get the game in the west unified inside the pyramid.

It will be unified in a few years time - the West Region Juniors will slot in at Tier 8 below a WoSL Premier and First Division.

I'm just wondering if they might now. They might have realised that if they don't agree to the WR going in from next season, with whatever conditions need to go around that, then the exodus is definitely going to happen. It's really their only play from here.

How can the West Region go in from next season? What prevented the East Region from going in will now also be happening in the West as there will now be a West Senor League in the same area as well.

I predict the future of the SJFA to be of following.   1. Mast exodus to WoS/EoS(and possibly NJFA disassociating).  2. The remainder to play for a few seasons in their little leagues, they continue to scramble for relevance. 3. In dribs a drabs clubs continue to leave, occasionally replaced by amateurs but the trend is less clubs in SJFA. 4. As the cash pot reduces the clubs/management are forced into a scenario that they can’t continue with paid staff. Redundancies are paid out and TJ etc leave. 5. The remaining few are left very weak but finally with a committee who aren’t interested in financial benefit to themselves, they either move to join the pyramid at an low level or be like the welfare FA.

I can see a WoSL having 2 Divisions and through time the WRJFA feeding into that. So, not Tier 6 but Tier 8.

Is it possible that the SJFA have had their bluff called by the other parties to the PWG, have now realised that if they hold to their line they will lose many members from the West, and will give up on their demands about the east etc? They might realise that the best they can get is the WRJFA feeding into the LL from tier 6, plus including new members somewhere, and take that as the only compromise that will continue their existence?

That option has gone now as well (if it ever existed). The Juniors will not get into the Pyramid. They want the Juniors clubs, they don't want the Junior FA.

The LL and EoS who rejected the West Region "option W"?

Also, what is this "alternative approach" he speaks of given his mandate is "all-in or none in",  if the mandate needs amended he needs an EGM, or is he playing it fast and loose out of desperation?

Where was the rejection of Option W? (Unless they were objecting to everything). Only one club was in favour of Option W anyway, the rest went with what the Management Committee recommended.

     All

I would confirm that the SJFA Management Committee met last night to discuss the ongoing situation around the SFA’s Pyramid Plan. Our continual aim is to meet the mandate given by our member clubs & deliver the pyramid pathway, we are confident this can be achieved.

We plan to open & re-engage with all parties through more positive dialogue in order to reach an amicable solution that meets the demands of everyone. That process has already started.  We hope our alternative approach allows each association to meet their objectives, we firmly believe through positive and constructive dialogue this can be achieved.

We would like to put on record our thanks to SFA President Rod Petrie for his input as we strive to reach an amical conclusion for the benefit of Scottish Football.

Would one of those parties be the Lowland League by any chance?

You know, the one that's had enough of the dithering over the past two years and has gone ahead (with the EoSL) to set up a WoSL.

The only statement the SJFA management committee looked at last night is the association's bank balance.

Not long till retirement now, can probably get a bigger slice of the cake with so many clubs leaving.

Checking up on that £½ million investment bond?

You'll have to agree that Beechwood Park is now one of the best grounds at our grade, with a playing surface to match. There's only two seasons Talbot have had really good pots from the Scottish Cup, 2011-12 and 2018-19, both boosted by games at Tynecastle, plus the BBC at Beechwood last season of course. A lot of money has gone into the regeneration project from both their runs, it's never gone on splashing out on players - the fans and playing set up do that themselves with their own fundraising scheme - and the ground is now ready for the floodlights come the end of the season.

Talbot are not doing all this for nothing. Whenever something concrete comes out, instead of just notifications of intent, Talbot will act appropriately. No need to rush right now.

I agree it is one of the best grounds - do you think the club would be anywhere near where it is without the Senor Cup (I'm sticking with this spelling)  money though. It has put it in a position to attract the best players which wins them the League and/or Junior Cup and the money that brings on its own.

As for how Talbot will act - if a WoSFL comes along and Talbot are not part of it I'll eat a pot noodle without any water being added. They know the route to the Scottish Cup money will soon be cut off to Junior clubs.

  10. I can't help but thinking that Juniors being allowed in the Scottish FA Cup may have led to its own downfall. Talbot are pulling further and further away from the rest of the Junior clubs financed by their Scottish FA Cup money. The only way Junior clubs can compete is access to that same money so going down the Licenced route. Maybe the new league will be a damp squib, who knows, but I think the Senor Cup entry has led to where we are today.

I would like to think so. I know some people take the point of view that let clubs stay Junior if they want. Which is fair enough. But if you take 16+ of the top teams from the West Region, having already lost the bigger East teams, what does staying Junior really mean?

If they can stay together I think they should.

A North Region club is not going to win the Junior Cup. It's also unlikely an East Region club will either. By the sounds on things the remaining Fife clubs will be departing soon from the East Region. If there is a major defection from the West the stature of the Junior Cup will disappear.

Can u name the 12? From what ive heard

    Clydebank
    Kilwinning
    Medda
    Whittlets
    Darvel
    Maryhill
    Bonnyton
    Cumnock
    Peasy
    Glencairn

    Mon the papers

12? I think they might end up having Conference type leagues to accommodate the number of clubs wanting access to the Pyramid. Unless the West Region can come up with solution acceptable to the Lowland League - and quick.  As the LL are going to be in favour of the WOSSL I think the only way they'll agree now is West Region at Tier 7 (or even 8 depending on numbers departing). If the West Region stick to this all in or none in I don't think it's going to go down well with clubs that feel let down.

Players don't get fined in senior football.   Rangers/Celtic players don't get fined per booking/red, neither do Blackburn/Coldstream.

At the end of the season, if any club has an excessive amount of yellow/reds then they may be hit with an overall SFA fine of a few hundred quid.

Really? I thought the SJFA was using the same rules as SFA now. After 6 bookings there's a fine and suspension.

  14. How many clubs are licenced in the West Region Juniors (or any others joining) currently that could be promoted to the Lowland League if they decided to jump ship?

And of those that are Licenced, they still have to win the League to be part of a play-off.

It does give clubs an incentive to improve their grounds that doesn't currently exist in the Juniors - it's looking likely that door is now shut (if it ever were really open).
