Didn't really get going. Thought we were popping it about quite comfortably first half and building to something but the departure of Shane really shook us. Seems weird to say it because he's not one of our best technical players and it's taken him a while to establish himself but so much of what we've acheived so far this season is built around what Shane does. Saw a bit of squad weakness for the first time in having to play Harper in left mid for a half and he was truly awful. Still, great penalty box defending and the best keeper in the league (maybe in the country?) saw us through. It's a point we would've been delighted with at the start of the season.

You're right about Harper today but the lad has a good game in him but unfortunately he was up against some excellent defending.
I'm going to say what others may be thinking and that is that Billy Mackay needs to start before Duku, Billy is solid as a striker whereas Duku is light and easily bundled off the ball in a physical game as we saw today.
Nonsense

A word of hope for Pars fans: we failed to win any of our last 5 games against Peter Grant's Alloa. That side were always very good against us.

We were excellent in terms of shape and effort throughout but at half-time I still couldn't see us winning the game as we were getting deeper and struggling to keep the ball. Huge credit to Dodds for changing it, bringing Welsh on, moving Roddy forward and then adding Doran. The way we played around Killie in the last half hour was a joy to watch and they never looked like getting back into it.

Was thinking all day yesterday that this game is tomorrow. Hopefully Welsh will be back for this, given he's got a week longer than I thought to get fit for it.
Does Welsh get back in? Difficult to leave Roddy out again after the impact he had last week and Allardice has been good in both games. Longer term, i think Welsh and Allardice will be first picks and can't see how Roddy fits into Dodds' system.

Have you seen them play before? I’m a Brora fan so will be interesting to hear how yourself & other Caley fans rate them.
Riddle played very well at left-back for a full 90 mins at Forres pre-season but still looks very young physically. Hennan struggled to get into that game, played on either flank and looked tidy on the ball.

If we don’t manage to beat Ayr at home, we may as well give up on any ambitions of going up. We’ve played some very good stuff in the first two games at times, impaired somewhat by Kirk Broadfoot. Hopefully Dodds finally drops him and Harper is back in the team.
That said, if we don’t cut out the defensive lapses Ayr will create some chances. Their best chance is Kirk Broadfoot doing a Kirk Broadfoot. Did I mention that Kirk Broadfoot gives me the fear?I'm no fan of the man or the signing but Kirk Broadfoot is in our first choice back 4, Cameron Harper isn't and i expect that will be that for this season.
The lapses are worrying and the clean sheets are misleading, but the defence has made a lot of progress since Cove (possibly the worst defensive performance in our history) and taking Harper out has been essential to that improvement.

Was that the same day as your incident with John and the Bairds?
I still think Jim Duffy is a good manager but would he have done any better than Robbo over the last three years? I highly doubt it.
Ha, it probably was the same day.
No, I don't think many managers could've done a better job, and even more impressive that he turned it around after such an awful start.
I worry for whoever has to follow him.

I was horrified when Robbo was appointed at the time but I don't think there's many who could've done any better that we'd be able to appoint.
I mind chatting with you following a defeat to Morton just a few months after Robbo was reappointed. We were in agreement that we'd have preferred Jim Duffy at that point!

Still love him like.

Robbo completely fucked it yesterday and he should shut the f**k up.

That's absolutely what he said. "rummel". Local pronunciation of "rumble". Is it not fairly commonly said that way across Scotland?
I've never come across it before, but Invernesians are not well versed in Scots so you may be right.

She knows the score.

Any Doonhamers able to translate the word the old boy uses to describe Billy Houliston?
Where in the clip does he say it?

John Robertson extremely complimentary about us on and off the pitch, given Caleys financial worries would he be interested in applying for the managers job?
To be fair, we all patronise you bit as we're about to head up the road with 3 points after a nice day out in your cool wee ground. It doesn't mean we want to be your manger.

Happy to be corrected here if there's something I'm massively missing?
You've certainly nailed the logic of this thing. And the only reasonable conclusion is that there is no financial crisis at ICT. This season's budget, like last season's, was set on the secure assumption that wealthy businessmen would plug the gap. Those businessmen are now ready to take control of the club, and it suits them to do so in a backdrop of potential administration and the need to cut back on the youth set-up. That makes this EGM and all of the drama surrounding it nothing more than a PR exercise.

the fact kidd and paton were deamed good enough to come back to the club after their abysmal season at their clubs last season defys belief.
Paton looks a complete state - neither of the part-time teams have a player that looks so part-time.

We had complete control of that game without having to exert ourselves too much. Welsh and Vincent in the middle of the park were joyous at times. Queens were abysmal.

Good luck with Billy King. A talented player with absolutely no heart.

Anyone tempted to start creaming over our squad might want to pause to reflect on our striking options. Nobody in that squad is going to score many more than 10 league goals and we'll drop a fair few points at home as a result.

I doubt there is a team more worthy of utter contempt and disgust in Scottish football than Dundee FC. For almost the entire modern period of Scottish football they have lurched from one crisis to another, they've burned through money, embraced some of the most vile and reprehensible people ever involved in Scottish football. They've funnelled money from local businesses and fans towards criminals and scam artists, have blown huge amounts of cash on useless players, terrible managers and had boards stuffed with characters who'd struggle to pass a fit and proper person test to get an account at Costco. Their fans are the most perma-raging gaggle of seething idiots to emerge from the rubble of their barely inhabitable excuse for a city. Building up an inferiority complex over years of being sworded by their clearly superior rivals has turned them into probably the most psychologically damaged group of people in the whole country, if we had less stringent gun laws you can bet that Dens park would be the epicentre of all mass shootings in Britain.
I'm certainly looking forward to Caley dishing out an absolute kicking to this horrifying outfit. With any luck their latest owners are exposed as money laundering criminals in short order and the whole club can be liquidated and all their fans immediately eaten by bears.
This complete mess of a thread is brought to you by ICTChris.

"The current playing budget available to the manager is likely to be around the third or fourth highest in the league".
If the playing budget isn't third then something's gone far wrong. Who else outside of the Dundee sides could possibly have a higher budget?

There was drink involved. Very good keeper playing at his peak though. Won us a point yesterday.
