Didn't really get going. Thought we were popping it about quite comfortably first half and building to something but the departure of Shane really shook us. Seems weird to say it because he's not one of our best technical players and it's taken him a while to establish himself but so much of what we've acheived so far this season is built around what Shane does. Saw a bit of squad weakness for the first time in having to play Harper in left mid for a half and he was truly awful. Still, great penalty box defending and the best keeper in the league (maybe in the country?) saw us through. It's a point we would've been delighted with at the start of the season.

Killie v ICT TOP OF THE TABLE CLASH
CaleyStan replied to deadasdillinger's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
We were excellent in terms of shape and effort throughout but at half-time I still couldn't see us winning the game as we were getting deeper and struggling to keep the ball. Huge credit to Dodds for changing it, bringing Welsh on, moving Roddy forward and then adding Doran. The way we played around Killie in the last half hour was a joy to watch and they never looked like getting back into it. -
I'm no fan of the man or the signing but Kirk Broadfoot is in our first choice back 4, Cameron Harper isn't and i expect that will be that for this season. The lapses are worrying and the clean sheets are misleading, but the defence has made a lot of progress since Cove (possibly the worst defensive performance in our history) and taking Harper out has been essential to that improvement.

I've never come across it before, but Invernesians are not well versed in Scots so you may be right. She knows the score. -

A short podcast on our trip to Palmerston: https://thewynessshuffle.podbean.com/e/lady-gaga-and-the-false-eleven/ Please bear with (or skip) the car noise in the first 5 minutes. Any Doonhamers able to translate the word the old boy uses to describe Billy Houliston? -

Ayr United’s Next Permanent Manager
CaleyStan replied to D'Jaffo's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
To be fair, we all patronise you bit as we're about to head up the road with 3 points after a nice day out in your cool wee ground. It doesn't mean we want to be your manger. -
You've certainly nailed the logic of this thing. And the only reasonable conclusion is that there is no financial crisis at ICT. This season's budget, like last season's, was set on the secure assumption that wealthy businessmen would plug the gap. Those businessmen are now ready to take control of the club, and it suits them to do so in a backdrop of potential administration and the need to cut back on the youth set-up. That makes this EGM and all of the drama surrounding it nothing more than a PR exercise.

Paton looks a complete state - neither of the part-time teams have a player that looks so part-time. -

We had complete control of that game without having to exert ourselves too much. Welsh and Vincent in the middle of the park were joyous at times. Queens were abysmal. -

Anyone tempted to start creaming over our squad might want to pause to reflect on our striking options. Nobody in that squad is going to score many more than 10 league goals and we'll drop a fair few points at home as a result. -

The Partick Thistle thread

"The current playing budget available to the manager is likely to be around the third or fourth highest in the league". If the playing budget isn't third then something's gone far wrong. Who else outside of the Dundee sides could possibly have a higher budget?
