  1. The government are paying 80% of the wages of employees who can't work due to the measures they've taken, up to a max of £2,500 per month. Does this apply to footballers? If so this may save a hell of a lot of clubs from serious problems.

    I’d say almost certainly yes.
  2. Good thing about having a hobby like golf. You can still socially distance on the course and keep playing, until we go into full lockdown.

Our course have made the hole only an inch deep to make retrieving the ball nice and easy without touching anything but your ball, and all bunkers are out of play to stop the need for rakes.

  3. Seems like a moot point to be in terms of university applications. By the time September comes, will everything be back to normal with thousands of people moving around the country/world and congregating the way they usually do for that?
The more this goes on the more I wonder just how fucked everything is outside of the virus itself. The world isn't going to recover any time soon.

Probably not but it’s basically all that she’s caring about just now, how the kids do in their exams. Mad, i know, but imagine the vast majority of teachers will be the same.

@stumigo is the only one I know on here who could confirm.
  4. It’s like no one in government has ever planned for the possibility of a pandemic.

Without being sympathetic to our government. It seems this is the case in the whole of the western world, which is terrifying.

It’s one of those things you assume there’s a big red folder somewhere with an action plan that you don’t need to know about until it’s needed.
  5. We only have 40 VPNs, we have about 95 workers who would need access to one should we all be sent home. If you could do anything to ensure my work can't purchase the additional 55 VPNs it would be greatly appreciated.

If they want to my work to buy and setup and manage these 55 VPNs I’m sure they’d oblige...
  6. f**k this shit. I'm going out to party and disgrace myself this weekend in case those lockdowns come here and I don't get another opportunity for a while.

You’d be better trying to find a party tonight at this rate. Lockdown is incoming.

On the alcohol note, I better go and buy a couple of crates just incase.
  7. Got told yesterday to work from home from Monday until the foreseeable. They reckon it could be 2-3 months before we come back to the office.
I'm going to go round the bend after a month I reckon. [emoji23]

Yeah I’m the same been told not to expect to be back in the office until the end of May.

Madness packing up the desk yesterday with screens etc and setting up a home office this morning.

Surreal feeling but I’m basically socially distancing myself now, might as well.
  8. Seems like maybe stating the obvious here and its maybe been discussed already but it really does seem to me, the more names and numbers you see testing positive, that this might already be absolutely rife all around us. It just seems like the case that we are probably looking at a high ratio of undetected cases until eventually its passed to someone who really suffers, and gets tested, or worse hospitalised.

Starting to wonder if we are already at the stage of massive infection rates and just dont know it

Fair certain this is the case. Boy on tv thus morning fuming that we’re 4 weeks too late to do anything about it.

Also a GP friend of mine says they’re preparing for 10-14weeks from now being the peak for treatment cases.
  9. As of tomorrow 5pm I’m working from home until further notice, with some indication it could be as long as May - they said the expected worst of the spread is to be mid April so are planning on us being at home until at least the end of April.

The thought of sitting in the dining rooms 7 hours a day for 8 weeks is a terrible on, but it seems sensible given the circumstances.

  10. A lot of box office in a short space of time. Being priced out of the sport at this point, just as I was really getting back into it again.

Taylor’s tickets being twice as expensive as the last time he fought at the hydro. Tickets I paid £42 for last time are now £90.

    Not great.
  11. “That’s what came out of these balls” should go down in tv history as an iconic moment.

It was also nice to see a hard, and clearly scary man in big john breaking down with pride on the phone to Tyson after the fight.

  12. I’ve been quiet on this but Hearn backtracked within one interview on talksport yesterday morning.

Started the conversation saying “it’s got to happen next, we need to get it done in the summer” and by the end of the conversation he was saying “well we need to get Pulev out the way in the summer, then the winner of Uysk and Whyte will be mandatory, then we’ll see what happens”. (I’m paraphrasing because I can’t be bothered getting exact quotes.

Presuming he got a Text off AJ half way through the chat saying “Mate, I don’t want anything to do with what Fury was doing tonight, I can’t get embarrassed again or it’s over”.

Fury in that form walks all over AJ.

Don’t think the fight will happen, certainly not this year. Will be interesting to see if Wilder wants a rematch. Really, Saturday was his rematch and IMO he’s been comprehensively beaten twice by Fury, what makes him think he will win a rematch?

  13. Ball will be the next thing I look at, got loads of prov1s from last season but also had some success with the NXT Tour S, which is significantly cheaper and also the Chrome Soft. Will be interested to try TMs new tour response ball which testing is showing to be brilliant compared to the premium balls.

What’s in the bag now going into 2020:

    M2 2017 9.5 Driver 56g stiff stock shaft
    M2 2016 15deg 3 wood reg shaft.

Cobra AMP Cell 19deg 3 Hybrid reg shaft.

TM P790 5-gap wedge 105 Nippon Modus shaft

    56 degree Cleveland RTX
    Cleveland HB Classic 3.0 Putter.

Obvious gap/issue in the bag is the 3H-5iron gap. 5iron normalised carry 175, 3H 195. So will be looking for a 4H and may replace with regular cobra with a stiff shaft something hybrid.

Just to update on my WITB gapping issue I’ve bought two Titleist 816 Hybrids 19 and 23 degrees which I think should fill the 5i to 3w gap pretty nicely.

    Bag complete.
  14. The old man had a few lessons with the pro at his club, and the pro recommended a ball type of the TrackMan data.
Never seen my dad hit the ball so straight or generate so much spin off his irons. I know part of it will be down to the lessons, but using the right ball has definitely had an effect.

That’s pretty impressive. Wouldn’t mind something similar myself, think a lot people just pick balls because it’s what they can get their hands on rather than being best for them.

On another note, if anyone ever comes across a Tommy Armour Impact No.3 putter let me know.
