  1. ...and I can't believe that for the second time now I have to point out that I never did that. Give it a rest and let this thread return to its actual subject matter.
  2. I'd be extremely surprised if they don't get in and agree that they should. If Campbelltown Pupils or Oban Saints applied I would not be so confident even if they ticked all the boxes.
  3. Agree with you on that, but it's not clear that's actually the case. If the only thing that matters is meeting stringent criteria then a vote by the member clubs would be redundant. If a vote by the clubs is included in the procedure as it is with the EoS then there would appear to be scope for knocking back an Oban application because it's too far away etc etc
  4. Think Battery Park that has been mentioned above used to be used by a Gourock juniors team back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and Dunoon Athletic and Duntocher Hibs grounds are still there AFAIA.
  5. ^^^I have this guy on ignore because of the timewasting nonsense he posts but sometimes you have to respond. First off check what I posted. I did not equate the two. It should have been abundantly clear that I see what the WoS guy did as worse. When the point being made is that both leagues have people at the twitter controls who are not behaving professionally enough it is ludicrous to throw a word like whataboutery around. Both leagues need to do better in future.
  6. If you are representing a league officially online you should be 100% sure what its policy actually is before posting about it. What happened was pub league level stuff.
  7. The EoS twitter guy was not too far behind a few days ago tweeting out misleading information about the league having a fixed boundary at the Tay Bridge midpoint line of latitude that he later had to retract.
  8. Tayport have stated they are putting in an application. Dave Baikie mentioned it during a podcast.
  9. Clubs still need to be voted into the league by the existing membership on the basis of whether they are viewed as a positive addition, so it isn't an open free market without artifical barriers. It's not equivalent for example to a new restaurant opening up in Perth where the existing restaurants would have no say on the matter. Syngenta and Glenrothes Strollers have been knocked back in recent seasons, so it isn't automatic that all applicant clubs will get in.
  10. Don't think Letham AFC are really any further from EoS ground standards than Hillfield Swifts, Rosyth, Thornton Hibs and Kirkcaldy & Dysart were when they entered so that shouldn't be enough to knock them back as long as they have a plan to get it upgraded to be on par with Blackburn eventually. The issue would be more whether Perth really needs a third EoS club in walking distance of Kinnoull and Jeanfield? Guess there used to be Perth Celtic as well (maybe showing my age with that) so it would be nothing new.
  11. Only way to find out is with an application. We've had it confirmed on the EoS twitter this week that there is no fixed northern boundary for the extent of the league.
  12. ...preferably at somewhere other than Newtown Park. Going back to trying to be the local club for Linlithgow Bridge at whatever level accepts them is their natural niche after failing to hijack Bo'ness United's junior legacy. When they joined the east region there was still an expectation in some circles that the move to the EoS by the Real Bo'ness United would end in failure, so they were clearly trying to become the top club in Bo'ness through deceit and the failed attempt to get a local derby going with a Linlithgow Rose tribute act. That's not a safe assumption in this case when they will no doubt be trying to contine to use the same ground as Real Bo'ness United and have solid financial backing by all accounts.
  13. ^^^this was where the Cupar Hearts angle started in this thread.
  14. Can confirm that this is very much genuine and a term that has been used widely in the Lagos area as I was able to test out how accurate this info was after seeing another newspaper story about it. Asking somebody from Nigeria whether she realised that she was looking very Dundee United that day because she was wearing tangerine and black led to lots of laughter from other Nigerians present and questions about how I knew about that expression.
  15. ...and the statement had the following part: https://www.eosfl.com/ These local authority boundaries will not affect any club already in membership of either League. Once a Club is admitted to a League, any application to switch Leagues will not be entertained except with the prior approval of both Leagues. So Dunipace would not be able to move to the WoS without permission from the EoS, which seems unlikely.
  16. In case anyone missed it. Clarification provided by a WoS officeholder.
  17. The wording of last night's statements is that clubs "will be directed to apply" to either the WoS or EoS based on the geography involved. Think that means the leagues won't even accept applications on March 31st from clubs on the wrong side of the county boundary. https://www.eosfl.com/ The EoSFL and WoSFL have agreed a boundary for new member applications which is based upon local authority areas. Clubs in Stirling, Falkirk and West Lothian Council areas who wish to join the pyramid will be directed to apply to the EoSFL while clubs in North and South Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire will be directed to apply to the WoSFL.
  18. Was mentioning it as an interesting quirk rather than as a criticism.
  19. The statement makes no mention of any exception for Harthill Royal. It's quite possible the Harthill Royal committee member in question hasn't grasped the implications of the wording yet. I'd wait a couple of days before getting into arguments about this because as happened with the Tayside stuff last night clarifications will soon be made if anybody has grasped the wrong end of the stick where the intended meaning is concerned.
  20. This was the tweet those above responded to: obviously this guy's info needs to be treated cautiously after what happened subsequently with the mistaken Tayside info that he soon had to retract, but I don't see any grey area type caveats in the statement that would get around the fact that their ground is in Greenrigg = West Lothian county area = directed to EoS not WoS. Given both leagues know full well where Harthill is I would expect some weasel wording to be in there if the leagues were expecting Harthill to wind up in the west.
  21. Not clear that there is any leeway in the statement wording that would allow a club based in Greenrigg, West Lothian to play in the WoS:
  22. There is part of the Stirling council area that is as far west as Gourock:
  23. There's a group of posters on here who became emotionally invested in this idea that the Tay Bridge line of latitude was a fixed boundary even at tier 6 and they have been insistent and obsessive enough about it to an extent that even the EoS twitter guy believed it to be the case until corrected by the powers that be in EoS terms. Now that has been clarified unambiguously hopefully a wider range of perspectives will be listened to respectfully on here. More importantly hopefully the people that actually matter will come up with a sensible resolution soon that works accetptably for all parties involved whatever that may be. I have no strong opinion beyond there having to be a clear and straightforward way in available for every Tayside club. A three way north-west-east split at tier 5 would probably have been the best way to do it from the outset so the HL catchment wouldn't become even more drastic in travel terms but would be better balanced in population terms with two other feeders covering the central belt. It's probably too late in the day for that now, unfortunately, after option Z got nowhere early last year. Ironically the people who were most vociferously against that proposal on here support or represented clubs who would probably have benefited most from it in the longer term because down the road the LL is likely to become west dominated under a two way tier 5 split and the east is likely to be underrepresented at the level where you get a shot at promotion to the SPFL.
