Even if allowed: why would Spartans want to take them over?

City seem to have few assets - even debt; small support (many whom wouldn't follow their old rival); bottom of SPFL1 v playoffs in SPFL2.

After Saturday's result maybe bottom of SPFL1 isn't a certainty yet and they might still provide Spartans with a shortcut to League One? Beyond that maybe there's long term thinking involved in terms of clearing the path to being the undisputed third club in Edinburgh. Having a group of former Meadowbank Thistle fans still around running another Edinburgh SPFL club complicates that a bit.

  2. Been a while since I posted in this thread, maybe because the whole thing seemed to be drifting into a stalemate and certainly because the signal to noise ratio of interesting posts to timewasting drivel from the resident narcissist and various assorted sociopaths was finally becoming too low, but just occasionally something interesting happens:

Did the Ukrainians just shoot down a $300 million AWACS plane that was flying along the Azov Sea coast with one of the "frankenSAM" systems that get talked about quite a bit on twitter:

Bad news for Vlad if they did.

Surely Edinburgh uni and gretna should bite the bullet and step down a league this season to allow two better teams to come up? ...

Think you already know the answer. If clubs like that had any class and a spirit of Corinthian fair play they would have agreed to modify the relegation format to something sensible by now. They don't so they didn't. The crazy thing is that there's a scenario in which they both get to stay up if the LL champion is promoted and Club 42 is relegated to the Highland League. Brechin replacing Clyde would not be good news for them though.

Who Hunter? The only players I can recall moving on are Kieran Mooney on loan.

In addition to John Ward who has been mentioned above a couple of younger players Murdoch and Fullerton were also moved on. Maybe the first time poster who made the comment is not happy about that for some reason.

  5. Could make a point about a possibly weakened Celtic B side for this one potentially relegating Edinburgh Uni rather than Gretna down the road but Edinburgh Uni voted for B teams so finding it hard to work up any sympathy. Different story if the Shire become part of the mix which I guess still isn't completely out of the question.

  6. 20k seems like a relatively small sum of money to result in the outright liquidation of a League One club but don't know what sort of net worth the people running the club right now would have. Presumably if HMRC received their money after the mass player clearout the show will go on without any large point deduction or their record for the season being expunged (which would have been good news for Accies in terms of the title race but I wouldn't want to happen).

  7. It would only take a couple more bad results from EK now for there to be a genuine title race. Mick Kennedy's past exploits with Darvel suggest that could conceivably happen so hopefully the other potential contenders (Cumbernauld Colts excepted because they already have it) are doing what they need to do to be able to comply with the SPFL's bronze level licensing requirements on whatever the grace period timeline is. If anyone thinks I am off base with this bear in mind Tranent rattled seven past EK in a Scottish Cup game not that long ago.

It seems odd that the name on the application is "The Blantyre Vics" and not from "Blantyre Victoria Football Club".

Looks like they are only using that in their address though. The full name is in the documents OK. The main question I would have is how much space is being left for spectators. If I am understanding the drawings provided correctly where the enclosure is now will become a flat 2 metre wide pathway between a barrier and a perimeter fence. Hopefully this makes licensing possible.

...Hamilton don't own their stadium, and don't collect the rents from it, including that paid by Clyde...

Correct on the first part, but think you are wrong about the rent from Clyde and other pitch related rentals because that's tied into a 50 year lease at this point. What the club doesn't get is office space related income. When the stadium was built that was expected to be one of the ways Accies could be sustainable despite the relatively small support.

    Right bud, last time.

They don't get big gates, right?

They need to sell their academy players to bring in income to compensate, right?

They can't afford to wait until the players are fully fledged to sell them because of cash flow pressures, right? ...

Think it also had a lot to do with getting debts cleared before the ownership change.

Any news of Division 4 being expanded next season? Or at full capacity now unless teams drop out?

It appears to be the latter with promotion of the WoS champion with no club relegated into the WoS from the LL being another way an opening for a new team could be generated. The fun and games start if the opposite to that happens and they wind up with 81 clubs but that's almost certainly not happening this season.

Loving the tears and snotters from the anti B team fanatics on here.  The Cowden board have made the best decision for our club. IMO f**k the rest of the tinpot clubs making up the shit show of the SPFL.

So what if others think its been made about the £££££, our board have weighed up the evidence and arrived at what they feel best for Cowdenbeath FC.

I don't care about other teams in Scotland and this anti B team pish.

In fact I'd have put out a statement saying THIS " we've only done it for the cash and we're aw Ranjurs fans anyways WATP NO SURRENDER COWDENBEATH ORANGE LODGE MASONIC LODGE NO. 141 LOYAL COWDENBEATH FC " and sent it to everyone in Scotland by post.

Merry Xmas and aw that pish to my fellow snake fans of CFC.

The Nottinghamshire miners of Scottish football would maybe be a better analogy given the history of your town.
