It definitely changed at some point but I don't think it's recently, I think the break clause came with the change from loan to temporary transfer. Club behaviour changed, first I noticed of it up here was Rangers moving all their loan players up a level (where they could). We're part of the problem for taking part e.g. McInroy. So can't really complain when it happens to us as well.

I'm glad we aren't so reliant on loans as we were in the past. I said last winter that I hoped the club didn't take as big a part in the loan market during the summer window - winter window makes sense as you have the player for the rest of the season and that can't be interrupted. Fwiw I think the big clubs will end up regretting how they behave with loan players down the line as managers will start to find it too unreliable.

When we last signed a right back, our only natural one currently was 14 years old. We last signed a competent left back in 2018. The problem predates the current recruitment setup but those involved have done nothing to fix it.
