Pointing fingers and blaming is all fine and well, but there have been plenty times directors have stated they'll happily step aside if someone wants to take their place. Therein lies the problem. It's a depressing state of affairs for absolutely everyone, of that I am sure.

The community have done absolutely nothing to help the club - only the same loyal fans/directors have kept us alive for as long as this.

Yeah. Let's be realistic here. The directors and volunteers are not on the young side. Unless someone with serious money comes in, or we get younger volunteers (highly unlikely for various reasons), then the club is doomed. Sadly, it is just a matter of time. It was always coming. I honestly thought we wouldn't have made it this far. Donald Findlay has kept us going in recent years, but after him, who is going to save us?

Slaven as well had a great chance at 1-0 when he was gifted the ball and dithered, didn’t know whether to shoot or go round he keeper, tried the latter and made a mess of it.

Celtic were a good football team, simple as that.

Slaven is so poor. I am sure he is quite fast if he put the effort in, but he is so lazy. He never does anything.

  3. The only gripe I have is that we sit too deep, especially after going behind 1-0, then 2-0, then 3-0 behind. I don't get the logic. We can't get relegated or promoted and we are losing. Why oh why do we sit so deep? The Celtic players didn't see a blue shirt until they were near our box. Awful tactics.

I think we also had Liam Henderson on loan from Falkirk

Yeah. He wasn't great when he played for us, but he did score the winning penalty to keep us in the league. To be fair to him, Locke played him on the right in the first leg at K Park and he is all left foot and really struggled.

Having been involved twice, the bottom line is that it has nothing to do with the standard of the LL / HL/ SPFL L2.

It is all down to the quality of each team in the play offs. First time up EK were a step above Cowdenbeath,  but basically poor finishing and losing a penalty shoot out was the difference.  Next time Cove were miles ahead, as has been shown by their progress since.

I expect the winner of LL/ HL play off to progress,  the standard in L2 is , as always,  poor. If Brechin do win HL , just maybe their experience at higher level might shade it.

Agree. Although not the bit about EK. They were not that good against us in the play-offs. I think if they were as good as some think, then they would have made the step up by now.

I thought Cove would have seen us off, but again, they never threatened in the "home" match at Inverurie. They were looking good in the second leg, but good old "Harvest Swann" was on song that day and saved us. He was a really good player when he put the effort in. Then of course Cove lost the plot and it was game over.

I think it is hard to predict this time. The likely teams are all similar in standard. None of them stand out.

I'm surprised to see Bonnyrigg stranded at the bottom of the league, maybe it was one step too far for them. At the current pace, I would fancy the winner of the HL to be the team in pole position, but not sure if Buckie or Brechin will be that team. Should be an interesting play-off when it happens.

No surprise to see Bonnyrigg at the bottom. I thought they would struggle. We were poor last season and the play-off score flattered them. I am sure the bookies had them as favourites for the title, but that was way off the mark.

Going to be close between them and the Wee Rovers. Advantage definitely with Rovers though. Bonnyrigg only have four home games left and they have to go to Cliftonhill later this month. Lose that and it will be hard to avoid bottom.

Brechin looked like they might have a decent chance of coming back up, but they are stuttering slightly just now and they have some tough games coming up, Fraserburgh twice, Brora and a possible winner takes all away day to Buckie on the last day of the Highland League campaign.

  7. Poor today, but some good individual performances. I thought Young was very good. Only 17 and played like an experienced pro. If he plays like that every week he will do well in the game. Shame he is a townie player 🙂. He didn't put a foot wrong and was even directing some of the older players.

It was funny when Sinclair shouted that we need to use the ball better when his touch and control are awful most of the time, even more so today. How did he miss that chance?

Did the club decide in the end it wasn’t worth appealing the sending off?

We have managed without Davidson recently (Uni of Stirling game) and can again.

Good to hear of another loanee for the squad.

Probably not worth it. We aren't pushing for promotion or at risk of relegation.

A talbot fan I know has made me aware that ex cowden man Jack Morris is now a main event star in Japanese wrestling. The promoter used this picture in the hype package for his title shot on Sunday, maybe we'll draw in some fans from Japan as well as Brazil 🤞

Maybe Rie is still over there. She can cheer him on.

Hopefully we can get something against them, we were unlucky when we played them in august and we are a lot better now so hopefully confidence from last couple games can help us but got a good feeling about it

We need to beat them to keep our ridiculously slim hopes of finishing top alive 😂.

A defeat and top of the league will be numerically out of reach (although, just to be a pedant,  it is almost certainly already numerically impossible, as the teams near the top still have to play each other and they can't all pick up no points).

  11. I see young Ryan One scored the winner for Hamilton tonight. Can we make a cheeky offer to Hamilton and get him on loan for next season (or now if it is permitted) 😀. I am sure Armand will put in a good word.

Our short term star from last season Sammy Ompreon is also in the same league, at Hungerford Town.  I keep an eye on him, he rarely gets a start, gets on a sub some games, such a waste, laddie should be a starter somewhere week in, week out.

He would bang the goals in at our level, but we probably can't afford him and he would need a job up here to keep himself busy and afford to live here.

How does it work with the student sides, can they only play for the team if they are an active student at the Uni, or are they able to buy and sign like other teams? Just interested as I'd imagine the former would create a very high turnover of players over a short period of time.

They probably have a lower turnover than the likes of Cowden. Most of the students will be there for 3 or 4 years.

Best team in the league IMO.

    I agree.

If you had said years ago that we could look into the future and that we would have a match in early January 2023 against them, most fans would be thinking great, it must be Scottish Cup 4th round. Easy win and possible money spinner in next round. Erm no, you are already out the cup and it's a Lowland League match 😔

They look a fine side, probably kept a wee bit in reserve on Wednesday knowing they would win comfortably.

But they will be up against a different beast tomorrow, hungry to topple the title challengers. I’ve not been drinking tonight, yet.

Hopefully the Uni will have their mind on the match next week when they play Dundee United in the cup and we can shock them.

Crazy, we are hoping to get a shock win against a Uni team 😃.

Just saw that Peterhead has taken Layton Bisland on loan. Wasn't he with you guys & not particularly highly rated at LL level? Seems a bit of a step up to L1 if so.

He looked like he had found his level, near the bottom of Lowland League. Poor decision making most of the time. Only alright in a few games . Maybe he just didn't fancy playing for us. As you will know, some players raise their game to the level they play at.

There is a choice now thanks to the introduction of B teams to the Lowland League. The SFA/SPFL were able to remove the fixed HL/LL boundary, as well as make changes to the minimum requirement of games played before declaring a champion.

SPFL2 clubs now declare where they go at the start of the season. There was meant to be no change so it didn't matter. Asked Forfar and the response was still opting for the Highland League.

Not surprised. I think the Highland League (at the moment anyway) is definitely an easier league to win.

Maurice is Maurice. I believe Dalbeattie but it's sad as you look forward to the game and it's off when most are on. Just for mental health, the football is what keeps me going. I know it's sad but when you have very little in your life, the football on Saturday makes you feel part of something, if you get me, love?

The only bonus is we will hopefully have another Saturday game in maybe March in better weather.
