    Or Clyde if convicted.

He's been with us since his teens and given a large part of his playing career to us. I did see him in the past at Palmerston watching games when he was with other clubs. I don't think he'll necessarily be a fan in the traditional sense but he'll have a strong affinity with the club. It's a really sad end to his time with us tbh and if true what was said then he only has his own stupidity to blame for it.

Shameful comparison with a rapist ?

Just to correct you D'Jaffo - he did not drag a LOWLAND league club to the third tier.

Annan joined SPFL in season 2008/09 after the demise of Gretna.

We made play offs 3 times in the first 9 seasons, never finishing below 8th.

Peter Murphy joined us in 2017 and since then another 3 play offs the most recent In 2022/23 when we were promoted.

    Pedantic I know but factual.

I think you were very kind and guarded with your response to the man from Partick.

Yep, think these three will be odds on to make the move with Murphy. A real hammer blow to Annan's squad if it happens.  Somehow I don't think any of the ex Queens contingent will be that keen on going back to Palmerston...

Would also expect moves for Kilsby and Nugent, both impressed at Galabank and now released by Carlisle.

If he is now free of the limited budget at Annan Reece Lyons at Kelty and Michael Garrity,  Morton, are players Murphy rates but didn't have the funds available for them.

Best of luck Mr Murphy. Thanks for the past seven years and fully expect to see you back at Brunton Park in the not too distant future.

This will all be dependent on who Annans next manager is ?

Lets put some meat to the bones.

2017/18 Chapman did a runner to Clyde and Murphy had no time to assemble a squad. 7th finish

2017/18 4th. Finish ie. Play Offs

    2019/20 Covid season terminated after27 games 7th.finish

2020/21 another short season due to Covid 22 games 8th finish

    2021/22 3rd. ie. Play Offs

2022/23 3rd again Play Off winners and promotion.

2023/24 8th. Survival in League 1 with reputedly the smallest budget.

OK not Pep G but 3 play offs out of 6 seasons in league 2 , not bad to be fair.

Can’t argue with those facts other you’ve blamed Covid more times than John Swinney in his first speech as FM.

I rate Murphy massively as a boss. So I think that could be a very decent appointment. Not sure if it's been mentioned either, but Queens appointing a manager with very strong Carlisle ties is probably a decent move too? Especially if you aren't paying a lot for full-time football, where it could be difficult to attract central belt players.

    Murphy at Annan

    season 1 L 2,7 th .season 2 L2 , 4th .season 3 L2 , 7th season 4 L2, 8th. season 5 L2, 3rd.  season 6 L2, 4th. season 7 L1, 8th.

    No Pep G ?

Speaking with fans at games, they seem to have enjoyed being back 'home'. Players seem happier too winning games.

That's why we have the pyramid; for clubs to find their level, enjoying the game. Like you say where is the enjoyment in drubbings more often than not

A belated congrats on staying in League 1, was keeping a constant check on updates from Forthbank. First season can be daunting at a new level, so hopefully can push on next season and become a fixture in League 1.

Thank you, and with a new manager inbound I’m sure we will kick on. Mid table is about what can be expected really.

On your other point thats why I really don’t understand what’s in the mindset of the good people ( now ) who are in charge of Gretna.

I can't remember if you've answered this, so apologies if you're repeating yourself. Do you think higher than 8th in League 1 is realistic?

I think i did TBH. To avoid the play offs must be regarded as a very successful season for Annan. If you look at the points at the end, Annan squandered way more than 10 over the piece ( i know all about it balance’s it’s self out )

ALEX Wilson is correct with his stats on % wins in charge

    Bartley 37.7 in his time

    murphy 37.4 ( 7 years )

Annan should be able to be mid table. Budget would dictate otherwise no matter how skilled the manger is. Let’s see what happens with the new guy next term.

Not for me has not the experience we need unless we try the hybrid model which means we could pick up the likes of Goss etc.from Annan .

You have a ready made manager in Wullie Gibson if Murphy leaves

It was tongue in cheek, Murphy will be gone very soon. Just didn’t want to jinx the move.

Certainly going to be an interesting close season.....

I hope that the rumours aren't correct in that the board won't change much more and in effect JM is just a replacement for the departing MB. We need new life breathed in from top to bottom so the manager stands a change.  With such a disconnect from Boardroom to Terrace and disharmony the pressure on immediate results of the new manager are key... when you have a happy fan base that feel wanted... you can get away with things a bit longer.

If you had asked me after the AGM what I would want for this coming season... It would easily have been a new localised board, possibly Murphy as manager (personally think he's done well keeping Annan in League 1 with a hell of a less budget than us and understands youths), Del Lyle Assistant (heard he'd be open to return to us... and good for Fan connection).  Board can instigate no more than 17 senior players to be signed, then we rely on Reserve and what would have been the Tanner Fund for back up... Sadly, whatever has happened with the Tanner has happened and now just relying on the wish of local based businessmen joining the board... which is diminishing... I did hope that when I saw a certain local businessman stand away from the Tanner, that there was a move to the board for him... we shall see? however I don't think thats the case as they wouldn't have folded the fund completely 😞

Murphy will be perfect for QOS as you desire.

Only we in the forgotten county can criticise oor tractor road. 😉

It's actually a very important part of the Trans- European- Transport-Network; or the E18 if you prefer. Linking the beautiful emerald isle with the greater European landmass via Gt.Britain &Norn Iron, or the UK if you prefer.

I know you wouldn't think it was a vital link driving it, especially after the Wigtonshire Roundabout.

One of the most pleasing sights for us Gallovidian's is viewing a big green claas coming 'hurtling' toward you on the opposite carriageway followed by 'hunners' of ferry traffic all of whom have the look of abject despair on their wee faces.

What makes it more comical is knowing that the 12 year old tractor driver is perusing old episodes of Emmerdale on his on-board entertainment system completely and absolutely oblivious to the carnage and seething hordes crawling behind him. 🤣🤣🤣

Watching Emmerdale when not on the phone, frightening.

Managers can only do so much with that budget though. Annan aren’t going to ever have a budget that gives a manager the chance to go beyond fighting relegation from League 1. There will be clubs in League 2 with more money probably.

You seem pretty intent on discrediting anything that Murphy has done though. He knows Gibson quite well so I don’t see why he wasn’t responsible for that signing. Annan will be shopping in a pretty shallow pool for players given the budget and location. I think once he leaves it’ll be a case of realising how good he was now that he’s away.

Only time will tell on the Murphy question. Annan ( Galabank ) has no scope for growth let along the size of the town. Ayr on the other hand has long overdue development to the ground, big name manager and from the outside look set to kick on at last.

You'd think it's mental when you say it like that but I'm not a fan of Gordon Chisholm and he was in charge during our best spell of the last few decades. I've no idea if he's statistically the best manager we've had mind you. For me it was a remarkable achievement yet I felt that side had more to give and IMO was the best chance we've had/will have to get into the top flight and we were way off doing that.

On Murphy though I think Annan have a ceiling and they're at it now, if not poking their head above it. I don't know if Murphy would be a good appointment for us but from the outside looking in he's done an incredible job at Annan and would certainly be worth a gamble.

There you go, your comments regarding Chisholm are interesting. As far as your take on Murphy I’m just not at all convinced ( if we manage to avoid relegation ) it will be down to his managerial skills. A clubs ceiling/ objective for a forthcoming season will always be determined by how well a manager uses the budget hes given and id give Murphy credit for bringing in Gibson ( IF HE DID ? ) who has made a big difference along with the loaneE from Newcastle ( which had nothing to do with PM ).

I don't think there's any question we deserve to be where we are. The table doesn't lie. But I also think it's fair to say we should never have been fighting in a relegation battle given our resources compared to the other clubs down at the bottom. If it was an acceptable performance we wouldn't all be wanting Bartley sacked.

As you well know I’m no fan of Murphy. But Bartley has given you untold grief this season. Even Humza in the end said he’d fucked up big time ( didn’t use those words ) and fell on his sword.
