Is it just a coincidence that Division B's league points adjustment generated a nailbiting end-of-season six-pointer? How much are Sky paying for the broadcasting rights?

Just a coincidence. The only match he’s lost is the one to me earlier in the season.  It was always going to come down to this do or die match.  This time he has the white advantage.

However I’m also playing EindhovenDee which is a very tough match.

That first Wimbledon title (not the Olympics) was one of the toughest watches, even if it was straight sets!

You're probably right in that we've watched an awful lot of straightforward wins in Andy's career, and have definitely been spoiled by him. Doesn't mean he hasn't chucked a few awful games/sets/matches in there along the way. More understandable today than it was back when he was in his prime, mind you.

Even in those title wins he was two sets down to Verdasco in the QF.  In 2016 he chucked away a two set lead against Tsonga in the QF.  In his US Open win he was a set and two breaks down to Cilic in the last 16.

In the ATP finals he was match point down to Raonic in the semi final.  Also took more than 3.5 hours to get past Nishikori.

He very rarely won the first set in Slam semi finals.  I think the Murray roller coaster has always been there.  I think his struggles in matches are the norm.  He isn’t as good as Federer, Djokovic or Nadal and I feel he gets judged against their standards.

Worth saying, Wimbledon started a week later this year than usual.

No it didn’t. It started the week it was meant to.  The French Open pushed back one week.  The grass season was pushed back a number of years ago to these weeks.

Anyway, despite the mental collapse in the third set that was largely positive.  If he can remain serving as well as the first two sets he will have a chance in the third round against Shapo.

His next opponent has to come back tomorrow and finish their match which is currently 9-9 in the fifth and stopped for the night.

  4. On expenses I would claim what I was entitled too.  Normally an over night meal of £20.  You had to supply a receipt.  However if you used your card and handed in the card receipt it never detailed what you had spent your allowance on.  So you could always go for a burger and a couple of pints on occasion.

I’d imagine she would have lost in the first round.  Siniakova made the final in Bod Hamburg and Konta hasn’t played since March.

Konta won the tourney at Nottingham a fortnight ago.

I even watched her lose in the French Open, so I’m not sure where I got that from 🤣

  6. As he is in Djokovic’s half, and defending champions are always scheduled on the first Monday, Murray will also be scheduled on Monday.  I’d imagine it would be also on Centre.  Likely to be about 5pm.  A woman’s match in between.  Simona Halep has withdrawn so it won’t be the defending champion.

  7. Andy Murray gets as good a draw as he could hope for.

Nikoloz Basilashivili in round one, and either Otte or Rinderknech in Round 2.  Potential Shapovalov in Round 3.

It then gets a lot harder. If he was to make the second week he is seeded to face Bautista-Agut in the last 16, Tsitsipas in QF, Djokovic SF and then Medvedev in the final.

I expect him to announce his retirement after Wimbers.

16 years and the thread'll need a new title...

Can’t happen now, as he has confirmed his participation at the olympics.  Dan Evans and Andy Murray in singles.  Doubles teams of Dan Evans and Neal Skupski, Joe Salisbury and Andy Murray.

Jamie Murray misses out as he’s not ranked high enough.  Ironically splitting from his previous partner of Neal Skupski to work again with Bruno Soares cost him his place.

In the women’s side Joanna Konta and Heather Watson are the singles entries and will also play doubles.

  9. Vigurs is brilliant technical footballer, he can see things other people can’t.  He was never really that fast anyway, his performances in the last five or six games under Hughes pretty much kept us up.  He will be really good for you.

Draper seems to be injured more than he is fit.  But even in the games he did play last season he was fine.  He played lots of games at County as centre half.

The only real issue would be playing them both at midfield at the same time, they would be too pedestrian.  Three year deals seem a bit much, but maybe you needed to offer that security to get them.

I assume they will both be full time?
