Found a photo with a caption, with the Thistle player named as "Rae". Alex Rae ? I was thinking more like Jackie Campbell (from my memory of him on my football cards).George Best of Man Utd in action v Partick Thistle in a testimonial match at Firhill in 1973, unsure of the Jags player honoured but I'm sure this was the year United were relegated.

I remember this. Giuseppe Signori starred in that game and was top scorer for the season IIRC.I remember the first game as 3-3 draw between Sampdoria and Lazio (Parma?). Couldn't believe I was watching Italian football on the telly!
I think the documentary said that Richardson was a producer type guy that wasn't that interested in football when the coverage started but ended up fronting it. He was undoubtedly a big part of it's success.0 -
