With the result today agaisnt Slovakia
A disappointing score but a decent performance (Scotland were the better team today)
A good thing is that the team we played on Thursday is far superior to the team today
We may already have topped the group by the time of the game (If Czech republic and Israel draw later today)
I actually want us in a way to not be already confirmed as top by the time the game starts as I want us to put on a full performance
McBurnie did nothing tonight - If we had Dykes on (I know he was suspended) - we would have won - scoring at least 2

He always turned up for squads even when playing in the USA despite knowing he would have very limited (if any) game time

We’ve got a serious lack of goals in our strikers which is very worrying and when Dykes went off we had zero up front. Shankland scored against San Marino and Burke against Cyprus hardly world beaters, Paterson and McBurnie have 0 goals in 30 caps a shocking statistic for any striker. For me the rest of the squad is fairly easy to pick with the odd player missing out but our striking options are really poor. Naismith is still one of our better options but playing Championship football. There’s half a season for our strikers to impress Clarke and with the exception of Dykes every other striker spot is surely up for grabs.
The only thing I disagree with here is that it may be a bit harsh on Callum Paterson - most of his caps were when he played in defence I think and he is usually a subby when he comes on nowadays?

That's not a bad return to be fair. I was genuinely asking - I barely watch club games in Scotland. Dykes will and SHOULD start but I reckon Griffiths is the type of player who can pull something out of nothing - even when he was a young player at Dundee (I was a season ticket holder then) he stood out like a sore thumb. Glad he is back in the fold.
