  1. I remember Triple H as WWF champion taking on Bob Holly of all people on Sunday Night Heat circa 2000/01 back in the Channel 4 days.

Sadly after the glorious Taka/Helms/Holly era no jobbers took part in WWF/E championship matches until Sheamus a couple of months back!

  2. As much as FSM magazine tried to big him up every single month, Burchill never really had much to him. The only time he was even remotely over was when he was a pirate.

I wouldn't listen to FSM, they also state every month that Brutus Magnus is the best thing since sliced bread!

Shame for Burchill, a half decent worker but without the pirate costume he just bored everyone to hell.

I'm sure Burchill and Helms will find their way to Orlando. If Orlando Jordan and Val Venis can get jobs there, anyone can!

There must be a few more in the WWE due to get endeavoured. Tyler Reks, Funaki, Charlie Haas and Jimmy Wang Yang anyone?

  3. http://www.digitalsp...tna-events.html The Extreme Sports Channel has agreed a deal with Total Nonstop Action (TNA) to broadcast its monthly wrestling events and programming in the UK.

Under the deal, TNA's exclusive pay-per-view wrestling bouts will air on the Extreme Sports Channel every Friday at 10pm, beginning with Destination X on March 26.

The arrangement also means that TNA Xplosion - an hour-long highlights programme featuring wrestlers such as Hulk Hogan, Mick Foley and Kurt Angle - will be broadcast on the channel every Friday at 9pm.

Owned by Chello Zone, the Extreme Sports Channel is available on Sky position 419 and Virgin Media position 527.

"The United Kingdom has become a battleground for professional wrestling fans as TNA's ratings have continued to climb," said TNA president Dixie Carter.

"This is another important moment for TNA and is another step to become the number one professional wrestling company in the world by giving our fans what they want; more TNA programming."

Extreme Sports Channel general manager Tim MacMullen added: "2010 is shaping up to be an amazing year for our viewers in the UK.

"Adding TNA's spectacular programming to our lineup of the world's best action sports and high-adrenalin entertainment shows is a great way to kick off our 11th year on air."

Last month, TNA renewed its deal with Bravo to continue transmission of TNA iMPACT! at 9pm every Saturday. In total, TNA now broadcasts 15 hours of wrestling programmes every month on all channels in the UK.

Not quite as a high profile channel as Bravo, but at least we will get to see TNA PPVs again. Hopefully they put on an Ultimate X match at Destination X.

  4. You thought last weeks was bad? You aint seen last nights yet

It was, to put it politely. Really pish.

Oh dear, thankfully the magic of Sky plus means that I can fast forward through the shite. At least the Pope and Mr Anderson are quite entertaining right now.

Although there was no need for Angle to bring the troops into his feud with Anderson, his promo was probably the best part of last weeks Impact.

  5. Apologies if this has already been discussed, but I've just been watching last weeks Impact. What the hell was that all about?!

I don't know if Hogan and Abyss were playing that segment for laughs, but it was totally cringeworthy. So Hogans WWE Hall of Fame ring now gives Abyss the special power of Hulkamania?

Also we had Daniels losing clean to Angle in about a minute and Samoa Joe jobbing clean to Orlando fucking Jordan, who now has his boyfriend AND girlfriend accompany him to the ring.

And then to top it all Samoa Joa was bundled into a transit van by what appeared to be a group of ninjas.

Also what has happened to the Knockouts? I get angry when I don't get to see my ladies Velvet and Madison!

TNA really have to get their act together if they even want to have the slightest hope of making any kind of impact on Mondays.

  6. .However most of the other rookies didn't impress me. One in particular stuck out and that was Darren Young, i thought Sheamus had a problem with his skin well this guy needs to be stuck in a freezer to see if his ridiculous tan wears off. Also Heath Ledger sucks and doesn't have the look to be a WWE superstar.

Erm... I might be victim of a whoosh here, but you do know that Darren Young is African American?

Also I think Heath Ledger has the look of a 2 year old Austrailian corpse rather than a WWE superstar.

  7. http://www.wwe.com/m. ..heweek20100212/

That at least confirms, amongst other things, that it'll be an open air Mania.

Seems a bit daft considering the stadium has a retractable roof, that means they will have to build that silly tent thing over the ring like they had in Orlando 2 years ago and obviously it will be unpleasent for the spectators if it starts pissing down with rain. Although that is quite unlikely as according to Wikipedia - Pheonix has a similar climate to Baghdad! :D

  8. R-Truth has to be one of the worst wrestlers I have ever witnessed.

    1. He is just rubbish in the ring, when he ducks from a punch then does the splits clearly out of time is just laughable.

    2. His horrible entrance where he raps that horrific 'WHATS UP' song just makes me turn over the TV right away.

    3. His horrible baggy jeans with R Truth down the side are stinking.

    4. His finishing move, what finishing move is that? RUBBISH!

He is a complete joke, how I hate his face!

    BOOOO R TRUTH mad.gif

I have to admit I may be jumping in as I did this with CM Punk and was proved wrong as I think Punk is class now but R Truth is just stinking.

I 100% agree, when I'm watching Smackdown his entrance music is the cue for me to go for a piss.

And his finishing move is a nonsense - he does the corkscrew AFTER he hits with the flying fist! How bloody stupid is that?

  9. I see that ECW has officially been killed off.

WWECW always entertained me without ever being too important in the grand scheme of things. My favourite time was the CM Punk vs Chavo era, kind of reminded me of the Attitude era with the outdoor street fight and Punk dressing up as a Mariachi to attack Chavo.

Hopefully Christian will now find himself in a decent spot on Raw or Smackdown, although I fear that Vince will make him pay for his TNA sins for a long time to come.

  10. I know TNA on UK telly has come a long way since the days of The Wrestling Channel, but it is still very amateurish in places.

It is great that we get Impact only 2 days after the States but whenever Impact is a 3 hour special in the States we get shafted with a cut down 2 hour version - I can't imagine Sky only showing 2 hours of a 3 hour Raw.

Also this situation with the PPVs is embarassing for TNA, I realise we wouldn't get free PPVs forever, but for them to only show them on a TV service that a miniscule proportion of the UK receive is madness. What next? TNA Lockdown live and exclusive on Ceefax!

Surely the most important thing for a growing wrestling organisation is to make your product available to as many people as possible? The WWF realised this in the early days of Sky and within a couple of years the WWF sold out Wembley Stadium.

Hopefully the suits at TNA get this sorted as soon as or else TNA will become an absolute non-entity in this Country.

  11. Bubba the Love Sponge - TNAs new backstage monkey seems like an utter c**t. Here is a quote from his twitter.

"I say f*** hati. Why do we have to take care of everybody our country is in shambles. Bubba".

Surely he should get the sack for spouting such bile.

  12. Does anyone know the score with Genesis this week? I've looked on the Sky guide for both Bravo and Bravo 2 but I can't see it on there. Has it gone to another channel, or even Sky box office. There's no way I'm going to pay for a TNA PPV if that is the case!

  13. Venis looks in good shape I guess, didn't really add anything to Impact and himself along with Orlando Jordon and Nasty Boys imo have been poor signings by TNA. Nasty boys are in horrible shape just like Scott Hall but they've probably been brought in because of Hogan with both being good friends of Hogan.

It will be an embarassment to all involved if they are going with Nasty Boys v Team 3D. Probably the 4 most out of shape wrestlers in the business.

  14. Can someone fill me in on what happened on the last episode of RAW ie. what they did on hinting Bret Harts return?

Vince cut a heel promo saying Bret Hart will never be in the WWE again, (Bret screwed Bret etc) but then HBK came out, called Vince a coward and persuaded Vince to let Bret Hart be guest host next week.So it looks like it's definately happening.

  15. Anyone else seen Sherlock Holmes yet? I'm pretty sure Kurgan from the Oddities is in it..

Kurrgan, wow that's a blast from the past! I remember back in the day he was randomly included in WWF Attitude on the N64 despite wrestlers like Big Show and Jericho not being in the game. Cool entrance music though.

He was off his face on something, that's for sure.

Not a bad RAW episode overall ... sets it up nicely for next week. :)

I think they need to get the guest hosts on Wellness as well!

  16. I picked up the 4 Batman 1989 - 1997 films boxset for £10 from Tesco, so far I have watched the 2 Tim Burton films.

    Batman - 8/10

Really enjoyed this, especially Jack Nicholson as The Joker and Kim Basinger looking lovely.

    Batman Returns - 7/10

Not quite as good as the first one but still really enjoyable, The Penguin is creepy as hell and bonus points for Michelle Pfeiffer in a leather catsuit.

Sadly I still have Batman Forever and Batman & Robin to watch, I know not to expect much from these 2 films!

  17. Been busy last few weeks and not being keeping up with wrestling as much, but after catching up I can say that I'm looking forward to TNA's January 4th show now.... because I fucking hate Bret Hart!!!

Hope he gets to f**k, and quickly.

I'm with you on this. There are plenty of so-called smart fans lining up to have a go at TNA for hiring an old timer like Hogan, but the very same people are creaming themselves in excitement over the WWE doing exactly the same thing with Bret Hart.

I know Hogan is a massive bawbag who likes to re-write history and talk shite in every interview he does, but Hart does the same thing - always bleating on about Montreal 1997 and recent belters such as 'Melina is currently the best wrestler in the world'

Obviously i this part of the world we won't have the option of watching TNA on Jan 4 th, but I'm much more looking forward to that than Raw.

  18. Theres been feck all snow in Inverness apart from a wee bit of sleet yesterday morning, hopefully the snow stays off for the County match on Saturday, I can't be arsed going up to Dingwall in a midweek for another rearranged game.

  19. No Mercy was an astounding game, It is hard to beleive that it's now more than 9 years since it came out and not a single wrestling game since has come close to being as good as it. That's like if FIFA 2001 had ended up being the peak of football games!

My other favourite wrestling game of all time is WCW vs NWO Revenge which was made by the same people a couple of years before No Mercy.

  20. Is anyone else REALLY excited about Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison on Sunday night ?

I've not been this excited since Wrestlemania. A chance for Drew to win a title in WWE is enough to make me want to stay up and watch live rather than watch later.

It helps that the card for the show is decent. Christian vs. Shelton in a Ladder Match ? Yes please.

McIntyre and Morrison are both good workers, but they are both very bland characters in my opinion, Morrison was so much better as a heel and I fear that in a few months he might sink to the level of MVP or Swagger if the writers don't come up with better stuff for him - the Mr Ziggles stuff was cringeworthy.

Although I've spotted that Morrison has a DVD boxset coming out soon so that may suggest that he still has a bright future.

On a side note I can't beleive Morrison is getting a DVD set before somebody like Jericho, they could probably fill 10 discs with Y2J's best stuff!
