  1. Hendry is decent on the ball, but he can’t bring the ball out anything close to what McTominay did at times last night. He is obviously better defensively though.
  2. The evidence is my eyes, and the quite evident physique they both have... Tierney’s calf is around the same size as Hickey’s arms and legs combined, not even discussing his glorious quads... You aren’t really giving anything admitting that Hickey is behind Tierney and Robertson, he is lightyears behind both and I’ll be delighted if he gets close to either in time.
  3. I would assume he would be, that doesn’t change that he is miles behind the likes of Tierney in terms of conditioning.
  4. He is maybe a similar build to what Tierney was when he broke through at Celtic, but doesn’t have anything like the same aggression/physicality in his game that Tierney had. I’m assuming you aren’t trying to say that Hickey and Tierney are currently the same physically, as that would be fucking ludicrous. Hopefully Hickey undertakes the same style of strength and conditioning programme that Tierney did.
  5. I meant who are the several players Hickey should be in the squad instead of... He may be able to play RB btw, although it’s still to be shown but he absolutely cannot play CB - he is built like a child and would be completely bullied. He has some serious work to do athleticism wise.
  6. Is he though? Both can be poor defensively, Hickey better on the ball but Patterson with far more athleticism for driving forward is potentially fair.
  7. Couldn’t have told you that - can’t really tell that type of thing at the game. Umtimately though, that isn’t a consequence of him playing RCB, he would still be marking at set pieces if playing as a CM. Dont disagree with anything your saying tbh.
  8. So, in an ideal world we want to have guaranteed progression and to be seeded by HT in Moldova, get everyone booked and then play a reserve side and take a pumping off Denmark!
  9. Surely to f**k they clear bookings before a play off?
  10. I think this is pretty spot on - I think he has generally been fine defensively with us but there is clearly some work to do there. If he can improve his shooting, he will be unbelievable.
  11. This - I don’t remotely understand the McTominay bashing after yesterday.
  12. Yes, because Stuart Armstrong equates to Scott McTominay. You are massively overselling how poor he was defensively, he gave away one free kick and bar that Israel created one chance. Is our best back three now include Hendry, Hanley and Tierney? Probably. But against poorer teams that sit in, both McTominay and Tierney offer a lot coming from deeper.
  13. I don’t think raw is a word that fits in with Billy Gilmour tbh.
  14. Yes it will - McTominay brought the ball out of defence wonderfully at times last night, we need that against the Faroes.
  15. We expected to win, and we won. Easy game IMO.
  16. We gave away two soft free kicks, and defended poorly and gave up a chance once in an entire game. I’m not sure what you are looking for here, defensive perfection isn’t going to be a thing against any side that isn’t hopeless. Should the defending have been better for the Israel chance in the second half? Yes, but other than that it was fine.
  17. Israel have good players going forward, and in open play created one singular chance. I’m not sure how we struggled with their attacking movement. Craig Gordon had no saves of note, in fact he only had one save.
  18. I know the quote your talking about, and to be fair I don’t think that is the context he meant it in. It was in response to Austria labelling us a long ball team. Clark wasn’t happy with the first half tonight, he definitely didn’t want us to play like that. Ultimately Israel scored from two soft set pieces, and bar that had one chance. I completely agree we can be better, let’s hope we see it!
  19. I don’t think we choose to not play football tbf. We still did at times too, the first goal was wonderful.
  20. If you can watch that game and think Billy Gilmour isn’t incredibly special, then football isn’t for you. If you can watch that game and offer criticism after it, again football isn’t for you.
  21. The people on here absolutely desperate to slaughter Patterson after a game like that. Tragic. He was dreadful first half, and did very well in the second. There were still mitigations in the first half, generally when he was given the ball he barely had options. At nineteen years old, to recover from that first half performance is truly outstanding - to put that improvement down to passion is absolutely laughable.
  22. I wonder what you would do about the rather large crossover of people who are both victims and “criminals”.... Are they banished from society too.
  23. I guess he could also just be meaning that Tierney’s position is a given and everyone else is fighting for the other two positions...
