  1. I had seen during the week that on average countries miss out on two players from their squad at major tournaments - given the comments on Armstrong it sounds like we are now on to three, with fingers crossed for Hickey.

Our attacking midfield depth is basically now completely gone.

Shiny new stuff does help with the long term plans of the club and a majority of fans support it , Hub has brought in much needed income , new shop has more than doubled the sales , new hospitality going to bring in over 100% more than old suite , I would hate to think where this club would be without the funds being provided from the shiny new things

Of course it does, let’s see if we can take the next step and not make an utter fucking mess of our recruitment on the park next season…

Agree on the addidas kits tbh. I didnt initialy like the last euros top as it had that red band on the sleeve.  Grew to like it in the end.

Maybe its an age thing but I'd love to see an umbro kit with the retro diamonds down a long sleeve top. Sure anyone under 30 (40 probably) would hate that though!

I wasn’t a fan of that top at all, but not quite as bad as the new one. I do love an Umbro kit, and I’m not even 35 yet!

I know! thankfully one of my kids is the same size in case I come to my senses. Il be getting the sticker album next.

Better the sticker album than the trainers IMO.

Daft loyalty I suppose. I know its mad. As I said, I don't hate it as much as when I saw it but wouldn't say I love it. Guess the bairn in me just wants to have it on when I step of the plane in Germany. I even bought the matching trainers which is questionable at least for a man of my age.

Worried that come the summer, i'l be a full kit wa#&%r (I wont)

I agree the costs are crazy, especially after you buy the kids some gear too!

Outrageous buying the matching trainers… 😂

We were all also going to get the top, just to have it for what will hopefully be a trip of a lifetime - but it’s just too bad to buy!

I looked at it close up in the JD Sports in Newcastle Airport on the way to Netherlands. It isn't any better in person, really don't like it. I'm beyond the age for buying football kits for myself anyway so makes no odds to their customer base but it's horrible and the fact every one is patterned differently close up is bonkers.

My son doesn't like it much either and he's 100% the market they are aiming at.

I quite like a more out there top at times, but the more I look at it the worse it gets. I genuinely think it must be one of our worst ever tops, shite that we are going to be wearing THAT in such an iconic match against Germany.

Most of our tops with adidas are just meh, other than the anniversary top I’m not sure I’ve particularly liked one since the red and yellow striped away one.

  6. The fact that we are eight weeks or so away, and already have three injuries to important members of our squad is pretty worrying - obviously within that there is hope for Hickey to return.

I quite like the idea of the commemorative coin for the new stand - it's daft but it's the sort of thing I'd like to imagine my grandkids or even beyond that looking at one day and looking up who in the family was an Ayr fan at that time - they're not gonna give a shit if the players that season came 9th or 7th or 1st or whatever.    I've got a couple of similar things from the war era when my great grandpa played down south for Burnley / Bradford and always found them pretty cool.

I though it was a bit shite tbh, but I think that’s probably a good way to look at it, ultimately this is a huge bit of history for a club that has been passed to most of us through generations.

Aye. But the biger clubs know that they don't really need to make meaningful concessions.

What the f**k are Port Vale going to do about it?

    Baw is burst.

Absolutely - the FA is clearly a waste of time down there too.

There'll be a few more bumps in the road like this as fitba finds its new world. Next stop teams in Europe not playing in the League Cup, and then eventually that comp will just get binned.

You simply can't support the current list of competitions while the elite level of the game expands at the rate it is. More European fixtures, the Nations League, summer tours, winter tours, Club World Cup, bigger international tournaments. Eventually something has to go, and that will be dictated by the clubs with money.

There's an echo-chamber at work here as well. A lot of my mates support lower league English sides, and speaking to them you'd think the entire nation was outraged about this. But fans of the bigger clubs and your classic Soccer AM fan types generally don't give a f**k what happens down the pyramid. It's completely removed from their experience of fitba.

I can see the argument both ways. As a paying fan, I'm not delighted at the prospect of paying £30 to see a cup tie then be asked to pay the same again because it was a draw. But the funding issue for clubs down the level is real. The obvious answer to this is genuinely better general distribution of football's money, but this will not happen.

We're reaching the point where different levels of football club just need to go their separate ways and stop this farce of pretending it's all one big system. It isn't, and the pretence does nobody any good.

I’m not really bothered about the lack of replays, as mentioned above it gives you a far better chance of actually winning and making more money in the next round.

It is obviously absolutely appalling that it has been put in place without consulting anyone in the lower leagues though.

There could easily have been some sort of concession made too to give the bigger clubs what they wanted, lower league clubs getting 75% of the gate when drawing a Premiership club for example.

That won't help trust me and it'll give you a bad smell also once you sweat a little, you get what you pay for with these tops

I think this might say more about you than the tops…

    He's a fucking horrible c**t that Martinez.

Wary of going full TalkSport here, but why is it always South Americans that act like this?

    While going full talk sport.

He barely even did anything there tbh, certainly nothing out of the ordinary.
