If we don't want to call it disliking football we do see a lot of players with premier league teams in their teens, drift down the leagues until they are with league 1 or 2 teams age 21-23 and give up well before age 30 so they do fall out of love with the game. Sit down with a bit of paper and write down all the players to play for your club in the last 5 years. Big number and fair proportion will be out of the game.
Best player at their school, going to be next Lionel messi then suddenly it's training twice a week in depths of winter at run down team.

Talks have broken down - I am absolutely gutted
i was hoping that hearts would be declared premier league winners.
Kelty,Brora, Bonnyrigg, east Stirlingshire, East Kilbride, BSC Glasgow and a pub team from the Galápagos Islands would be added to the premier league next year. Rangers would have sole control of Scottish football.
i wanted:
premier league - 18 and a half teams
Championship - 11 and a half teams
league 1 - 2 teams (play each other 36 times per season - top 2 promoted)
league 2 - 10 teams - all relegated at end of season
Randomly chosen Kelty supporter chooses which 10 teams join league 2 each year
the last few weeks have shown Scottish football be be absolutely Micky mouse. Shameful, pathetic
words fail me

Everybody seems to be talking about what reconstruction will happen. I don't think there should be any at all - why do we have to do it now? Why the rush? Does anybody agree with me?

Simple question - why is it essential that we restructure the leagues now? We already have chaos in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, so is the only solution more chaos and acrimony?
options of ending premier league like the others or playing it out. without any playoffs it's one up, one down.
option of no promotion, no relegation exists - maybe not popular I guess
but why must we have reconstruction right now? If folk want to talk about it in next couple of years by all means do so. Personally I'd just leave it as it is but I can see arguments for and against - leagues of 10 mean playing same teams over and over, not much variety in fixtures but there isn't a massive spread of ability top to bottom - some spread obviously but not absolutely massive. Positives include playoff structure meaning very few dead rubbers late in the season.
am I missing something? Am the only one thinking this way? I don't understand the rush and as said above there is going to be tons of ill feeling that we could all do without at this difficult time

Next season there will be 17 teams in the top flight. The team based nearest to gorgie road will start the season on 20 points. Each team will play one match then Ann budge decides the final league places.

Harkins was subbed (about an hour late in many people's opinion) and was sitting on the bench when the ref walked over, at a dead ball, to lecture stenny manager David irons for being mouthy. The ref was walking back from the touch line when they suddenly turned back to the stenny dugout with red card held aloft. At first I assumed it was irons being sent to the stand but no, it was harkins.
i think harkins was calling the ref slow and lazy and this was the first case of the new rule in Scottish football being applied - the straight red card for hypocrisy.

If all fit and free to play
Smith
Tiffoney. Wilson. Armstrong. Burns
Blair McBrearty
. Hopkirk. Harkins ????????
. Spence
not sure about left midfield (cook would be good in there) Moore I guess over McBride or Biabi playing out of position
still not convinced about central defence but certainly better squad now.

Can't fault manager or board for activity in trying to remodel squad since end November/start December and now but loss of marsh and cook could really cost us. There seems to be a tendency for irons to fall out with players that wasn't there last time he was with us. Obviously stress of being at the wrong end of the wrong table changes things.
we need spence or biabi to hit a run of form. Both are rusty though. Spence in particularly looks like a decent player but seems low on confidence.
I think we need to get our hands on TWO central defenders but I don't realistically see that happening. One big problem is Andy Munro - he doesn't seem to get much criticism. Maybe some are fooled by his chest out, shouting style but I think he makes big mistakes every game. Distribution really poor but it's the mistakes he makes. Defence woeful all season and he is the one constant. Marsh better for me.
any news on halleran and marky Munro?

Gordon strachan - scottish football isn't great - several clubs are part time and don't have massive support. Why didn't we think of that. We should have all gone full time. I suppose you have to have played at a high level to really understand the game. Are you doing an open university degree in economics you little t**t?
richard foster of/ex Ross county - it's morally repulsive that teams are releasing players when furlough scheme is around. I see - Bobby, your knee is bust and your career is over but hang around and claim furlough. Davie, you have been a fringe player all year, played 8 minutes all season, we would definately have been releasing you at end of the season but hang around and claim furlough. Morally upstanding way to use public money. No problem - when pandemic is over we can freeze doctors and nurses pay for 20 years, bit like we did after the banking crisis
