  1. Whats up with Jon Robertson, noticed he has not featured last couple of games, is he injured or on holiday possibly?
  2. I am sure he does, I would love to be involved in the Alloa set up this season but I'm pish at Football........I just feel we need better back up , he was poor before, never thought he looked good, yes had the odd good stop here and there but you could see for example when Gallacher came in what a difference a decent keeper can make, never had that confidence with McDowell.
  3. Get him signed up then and we can forget about McDowell!! Can't see how McDowell will have improved especially when he couldn't even get a club last season which says it all really. What was the final score today by the way ?
  4. No offence to the guy but he is rank, there must be better than McDowell kicking about, if Parry gets injured we are back to the same nightmare scenario we had been in before Gallacher came in last season and for the whole season before a defence who have no real confidence in the keeper and McDowell was definitely a weak link. Am I right in saying he didn't have a club last season?
  5. Will be a good signing for Stenhousemuir in my opinion. Dougie kind of splits the opinion of the Alloa support probably because he has had 3 spells at the club now and probably never showed his true form on a consistent basis for one reason or another. Last season in the Championship considering there was plenty of big games against Rangers, Hibs, Falkirk and the like i thought his game stood up well which probably influenced his decision to reject the offer of a new contract for this season, with JR being quoted in the local paper as Hill still having aspirations of continuing his career in the Championship for the upcoming season. If he is signing for Stennie it looks like nothing has materialised for him in the Championship, so whether a move has fallen through coupled with us moving on by signing Taggart,Waters, Andy Graham and Marr re-signing, it has not really panned out as he hoped i guess but will still be a 7 out of 10 each week for you guys.
  6. Was offered a new deal by us for next season but accoring to Ross in the local rag he turned it down as still has aspirations of playing in the Championship next season.................will see how that works out for him.
  7. I do agree with you FB about the midfield looking adaptable but you would assume the likes of Goodwin, Cawley will play most games, the manager seems to rate Kilpatrick and if Robertson can regain his form then he would be hard to leave out. In my opinion Flanny finished the season well and looked a better option than Holmes. Assuming we go with Spence and Longworth most games (hopefully) and you think Holmes will get a lot of playing time which he may well do, who would you leave out?
  8. As Waspie said well deserved but a bit surprising as with Robertson, Goodwin, Kilpatrick,Flanny and possibly Cawley playing in midfield as you would think Spence and Longworth will both start i would have thought that Holmes might struggle to get much game time. Maybe he will be more of a Club captain than anything, cant deny though that a great servant and good to see it being recognised.
  9. He is off to York City according to his facebook page
  10. I think we could do with another out and out striker, going with Longworth, Layne and young Hynd would leave us well short over a season.
  11. A bit confused over the manager's comments on OS, he is saying with the signing of Marr, this leaves room for another three players to be brought in , which going by the squad list on the Duffle would give a squad of 16 including two keepers. He could mean 3 new faces on top of those he expects to re-sign from last season but if not must be relying a lot on the youths this coming season. What's your thoughts guys?
  12. Ok Father B ..........................maybe need to get out a bit more
  13. Exactly, i wonder who Stubbs will sign next season to " win the treble"
  14. I see Blair Henderson has signed for Stirling, i saw he was heavily linked with us in the Berwick thread , wouldnt like to think that we cant compete with the Albion when it comes to finance, if so can see why the likes of Marr, Hill, Flanny etc have been slow to committ to next season.
  15. What happened, i take it they were not happy with the £30 a week on offer and plumped for the £10,000 a week on offer from Arbroath
  16. I dont think you could say we were getting pumped most weeks, yes we were losing games but for a part time team most weeks we competed against pretty strong full time teams and making a game of it more often than not. Hamilton is a decent player but fans i have spoken to were 50/50 on offering him a new deal in the first place, yes he would probably have done a job for us next season hence the offer of a new contract but no matter what anyone says money talks and he has obviously been offered more by Arbroath which is fair enough..........he aint no Roberto Carlos though
  17. Aye you are probably right Wilky, Meggart was a hard act to follow and Hamilton did improve as the season went on but i think League 1 and 2 will prove to be his level. Lets hope Lewis Wilson gets a chance although as you would expect JR will be looking to bring in another left back for some competition.
  18. Good, definately means he wont be with us next season, i wonder if we will return the pitch to its original size once we get a competant left back in
  19. Granted it is only rumours at this stage but Abroath appear to be Hamilton's likely destination which makes this piece that was in our local rag last week all the more bizzare. http://www.alloaadvertiser.com/sport/alloaathletic/14473590.Hamilton__Jack_can_make_us_contenders_in_League_One/
  20. So, as long as Wasps 1 is not talking shite (i know a bit of a long shot) who are we going for guys for returning, surely one of: Cawley, Spence, Lister or Gordon ??
  21. Must admit thought O'Brien would be away also- possibly Ross has not spoken to him yet, as Kieren said no real surprises, maybe Macausland also as he has been a bit hit and miss
  22. Statement now on club website,, D Crawford, Finnie and Williams confirmed as away along with Lynas, Ferns and Lee McLelland. Still some players to be spoken too and others have been offered deals but no indication on who they are.. What with McManus, Duffy and Crawford returning to parent clubs and the likelihood that Gallagher will find another club looks like another rebuild of the team again.
  23. Please be on the wind up Printer surely we are not stuck with Ferns for another season, if so who re-signed him, can't imagine it was Ross
  24. Don't buy into bringing previous players back, it usually ends up in disappointment. I think it was generally acknowledged that when Cawley and McCord left the timing was right, both needed a new challenge, you could argue especially in McCord's case that he stayed a season too long, just because it maybe has not panned out as well as they hoped at their new clubs as much as they would both make an impression in the third tier its not a reason to bring them back, both have moved on. McDowell was poor in his time with us in my opinion, you can see the difference a quality keeper like Gallacher makes, wouldn't go near McD, not good enough. As for next season pretty much in agreement with above on who should stay and who should go, would stick with Marr and Hill, Holmes could do a job but he is another that may need a change of scenery as he has had a mixed couple of seasons, if Meggison wants to stay he should be ok in the 2nd division I suppose. Needless to say would love to keep Gallacher but I am sure he will have other offers, might depend on whether Ross stays or not. Will be interesting to see what happens with Ross, the team has looked better but results have been just as poor and more worryingly the team didn't look too fired up for the crucial games against Livi and Dumbarton especially, wouldn't be devastated if he was given the chance to build his own team next season but I think the jury is still out on him. Still the last time we were relegated we had a new manager and a completely new team and that didn't work out too bad.
