  1. It's come from a tweet that went up about an hour ago. There's no other real mention of it on Twitter, unlike your man Tait which is pretty well covered (and is a player who Alan Burrows seems to have been following on Twitter for ages). It's really only from this one guy: https://twitter.com/SmithJournalist/status/743521806473113600
  2. ^^^^^^ This. I genuinely can't believe the patience Flow has with them.
  3. BBC Humberside has us as the likely destination for Grimsby Town's right back Richard Tait. We definitely need a right back regardless of whether or not we're moving Josh Law on. https://twitter.com/humbersidesport/status/743322322803666944

  5. I can understand the interest in Erwin, going back to McGhee's comments back in January about us lacking a physical presence up front, for all McGhee has a habit of just saying whatever he fancies to the press that point does hold true. Even if Mackin is viewed as a long term project for that role and does sign a new deal I doubt he'd be a realistic first team option next season. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if he and Watt were loaned out to get them playing week in week out. If there's an option there to get Erwin in with us paying a small % of his wage then who knows, it may be realistic. We get him in short term and Mackin goes out for a season and steps up after that.

  7. Aye, I saw some of the grief Alan Burrows was getting. I hope he makes good use of the mute function. People actually moaning that the club aren't coming out in the press telling fans who they might be signing. Genuine mentalists whose tiny minds would then implode if we didn't actually sign said players.
  8. Another paper that I won't link to (but showed up on the Twitter feed search of 'Motherwell') reporting the Leitch move and Pearson to India thing accompanied by a hysterical headline about "Fir Park exodus". 3 players mate; one's gone, another hasn't played a first team game and the other though a relatively key player missed a fair chunk of last season through injury. Settle.
  9. Agreed. Also I think you got a much better game out of McManus with Hall next to him than you did either Kennedy or Laing however from a purely anecdotal perspective I'd say that a dynamic midfielder with a clear affinity towards the club has more of a value than a potentially solid young defender with a few rough edges. Though having just read the club's Facebook and Twitter feeds it seems folk have just totally overlooked the fact that Cadden extended his deal along with others and are seething about Hall's agent turning his head and the club "letting him go". What a state these folk are getting into. Edit: totally agree with your comment on Steelmen about it being hard to get worked up about him moving to a different league as opposed to some of the Scottish clubs that were rumoured.
  10. Put in a bit of context if that £200k fee is accurate then we've just taken more for a 19 year old who's played less than 20 first team games than we did for Hutchinson & Reynolds combined and had almost 300 appearances for Motherwell between them. When you consider that the reported fee for Paul Quinn to Cardiff was £300k and he had 161 games to his name then it shows the sort of return from the youth development side of things in a positive light. Even if it's not million pound fees to be establishing deals with English Championship clubs and above and bringing in six figures on a fairly regular basis should (hopefully) keep things ticking over. If one or two can move on and we can retain 3 or 4 then it's reasonably healthy as long as we're being compensated and there's a good level of player coming through which presently seems to be the case with Cadden, Campbell, MacLean, Ferguson and I think that Turnbull looks like a superb prospect.
  11. I never look at the Facebook pages but that really doesn't surprise me. That's Hall gone and, if rumours are to be believed, Robbie Leitch is next to move. Without wanting to sound sour as I think Hall has acquitted himself well without being spectacular and I'd have been fine with him extending his deal but if I was given the choice of one of Hall or Cadden extending their deals then, for me, it'd have been Cadden over Hall every time. Not that it had to be one or the other it'd have been nice if they'd both stayed but it's the way the system works some will move on. We're actively trying to present ourselves as a club that will give youth an opportunity and provide a pathway for young players. Cadden re-signing plus £200k for Hall is a good news all round IMO. As you say, Campbell's signed a new deal and Ross MacLean has signed on for another year as well. What Hall does next is really up to him, the club gave him a platform and he's benefited from it in so much as he's got a move to a club in a more monied league.
  12. 'undisclosed fee', we'll get whatever development fee is due. He'd only been at the club since 2013 so it won't be as much as someone like Erwin who had been there since 2006. Really can't argue with the move. Good luck to him. Edit: STV reporting £200k fee. http://stv.tv/sport/football/1357350-brighton-sign-defender-ben-hall-from-motherwell-on-two-year-deal/
  13. That's yer Ben Hall to Brighton official. http://www.seagulls.co.uk/news/article/ben-hall-joins-brighton-and-hove-albion-from-motherwell-3139366.aspx
  14. Ignoring the rumours of who might be on their way out for a second, based on those who are currently contracted we'd be looking at: GK - Samson RB - Laing RCB - Kennedy LCB - McManus LB - ? LCM - Pearson CM - ? RCM - Cadden RAM - Ainsworth CF - Moult LAM Johnson Subs: - Moore - ? - Thomas - Ferguson - Law . Chalmers - ? Plus: MacLean, Campbell, Turnbull, Watt, McMillan I'm not really sure what the story with McDonald is since it seems to have changed so many times firstly when he was signed it was on a year deal with a +1, then at the end of the season it was a question of whether he wanted to come back and the ball was in his court, now according to McGhee he's still effectively a Motherwell player because of the option. It's hardly consistent. As far as the re-signings go the two priorities for me were McManus and McDonald, so far one has confirmed and the other, who knows? While it'd be good to keep the experienced heads around that can't be enough. As Casagolda says it's heartening that McGhee's stated that the players he's looking at bringing in are ones who will improve the first team and in truth even if the likes of Hammell and Lasley re-sign we'll still need to be looking at properly solid, focused recruitment rather than just getting bodies in to act as cover.

  17. Given it's been fairly well documented we've been restructuring the budget and are now basing our projections on no sales then if we're being offered a six figure fee from a club who aren't in the same league for a player with a year to go on his deal then you'd think we'd definitely be listening to what they have to say. You'd hope that any income the club can get from players in the last year of their contracts or development fees would be helpful in trying to push toward profit from a break even position rather than selling out of necessity.
