  1. Great win for us yesterday. I wasn’t at the game (I await the birthday comment) but I had a look to check what formation we were playing. We’d maybe have had more joy if we played that formation at Tannadice last week, but that’s just a guess. What’s done is done and you have to back Murray for the season we’ve had. We’re pretty much certain of at least second place now, and we’re still in with a chance of the title.

Hopefully we can keep the pressure on United with a first win of the season against Airdrie on Tuesday.

Someone said that someone was attractive and Rics on his high horse.

I had to read back on the thread to see what outrageous view had been proffered. Man finds woman attractive shocker. Other man who doesn’t even listen to said radio show has opinions on it shocker.

Bradshaw is ok if he's on with Cowan or Cosgrove but yesterdays show just didn't work, I'm guessing that a lot of folk also switched off.

I agree. Unless you have either Cowan or Cosgrove on (preferably both) then it’s not the same show. It’s not even a decent tribute act.

I usually just have it on in the background for a bit when I’m making lunch or in the car but without either of them it’s not worth listening to. That said, I’d be happy enough for a new show to fill the void, as long as it was good.  BBC Scotland might struggle with the ‘good’ part going by the totally lame comedy shows they come up with.

If we had any sort of strategic approach to player development the SFA would be scouring schools for tall lassies interested in training to be a goalkeeper. Lee Gibson is 5 foot 6.

That English Goalkeeper, Mary Earps, is only 5’ 8”. I just assumed she was bigger than that. It would make sense to try and find a taller goalkeeper.

This match isn’t much to write home about, and the longer it’s going on the more Serbia are coming into it.

For those interested the match tonight against Serbia is on BBC Sport Website or BBC iPlayer at 5pm.

I’ll be watching which is a sure sign that they’ll turn to shite. I think the last time I watched them on TV when they played well and won was that friendly against Jamaica back before the World Cup.

There will still be more SNP MPs after the next general election under Humza Yousaf than there ever were under cuddles Salmond.

Insert Alan Partridge GIF here. We had 50 odd MPs under Sturgeon and it achieved nothing.  If Salmond hung around he’d probably have enjoyed similar success on the back of the last Indy ref.

Arrived in the post today. Album looks decent quality but the stickers are a bit wee and flimsy. Not done one for about 30 years though so might have been like that for a while.

The mighty Scotland right at the start of the book (after hosts tbf) 😍

Mine arrived today too. Initial thoughts are the sticker album looks okay but the stickers themselves look a bit cheap and cheery. From memory the Panini World Cup 2022 stickers looked similarly naff.

I don’t like having the play-off teams as part of the annual. That just seems a rip off.

Watching Liverpool v Sheffield tonight.  If anyone suggests McBurrnie should ever play for Scotland again I will take out a contract.

Was he really shite? I saw he got on for the last half hour. Did nothing?

Well, it clearly offended someone. That boy up the page - who must have changed his username cause I don’t recall him - wasn’t happy.

Tried dhgate for a couple of tops but the earliest delivery date is two days before we play Germany and also the day I head over. Is it likely to take that long?

That one says it’ll arrive in 7 days.

  11. The last time I felt good about the direction the independence movement was going was back before the referendum. All the talk then was about independence and how good this new independent Scotland could be. Salmond seemed a decent front man.

Then Sturgeon came in and the electoral success was amazing but there didn’t seem to be a decent plan for how to advance the cause for independence. Everyone was all cheery and optimistic and thought the Tory government would observe democracy and allow another referendum (as seen by the wildly optimistic polling choices in this topic poll). That hasn’t happened.

Now the SNP are fannying about with legislation that isn’t high on the majority’s priority list while botching major infrastructure like hospitals and ferries, and while the local councils, police, NHS, and most public sector organisations offer poorer service, and people (voters) start to notice this.

Now we’re in no-man’s land for Indy and I can’t see what’s going to change that.

It might help if someone made the current case for independence and started advertising that to people. The last time this was done on a regular basis was back when Salmond was in charge. Since then it’s been stuff about levers of power by the very dull John Swinney. That’s never getting the electorate onside. The SNP are the best vehicle for independence and they are in the doldrums.

  12. I’ll get the first post in for this calendar year.

Sadly, I can’t see another Indy Ref any time soon. The SNP are awful and need punted and restructured but that’s 2 years away. Then it remains to be seen whether they’ll do a Labour or sort themselves out a bit quicker than that. They need to get back to the centre ground.

f**k Raith. @ryanayr1987 not apologising this time.

f**k Ayr. I honestly don’t like games with Ayr. No offence or anything, but I do. Always have. Too many draws and defeats. I can see a birthday coming on.

I’ll be there for those middle-aged, baldy Airdrie scumbags on the Tuesday.

Hopefully we get 3 points from both.

Win or lose, if we finish second then it’s our best finish since 2010-11, so that’s something.

If I had a pound for every time I heard that

People seem to forget this is the Politics sub-forum of the General Nonsense forum, of a website for football forums.

The Politics sub-forum is nutty as f**k. Only out-nuttied by the Juniors forum and I’m not sure that even exists anymore.

I stand corrected the Juniors forum is still alive.

  15. I’m seeing a few comments on Facebook just now about weather modifiction and ‘geoengineered weather’. I suspect it’s cause it’s been raining so often in Scotland.

    What’s that all about?

Part of me wishes it was true. Then there would be a solution; kill the c***s.

This is the speech Elon Musk complains about. https://www.parliament.scot/chamber-and-committees/official-report/search-what-was-said-in-parliament/meeting-of-parliament-10-06-2020?meeting=12685&iob=114774#4941

Anyone who finds something objectionable in there is obviously racist AF.

"This is the part where we should all begin to feel uncomfortable, because we have to accept the reality and the evidence that is in front of us, that Scotland has a problem of structural racism. As members have said, we can take the Parliament as an example. More than 300 MSPs have come to and gone from this Parliament—our nation’s Parliament. In 20 years, there has not been a single black member of the Scottish Parliament, to our shame; there has not been a single woman MSP of colour, to our shame; and the only four ethnic minority MSPs have all been Scots Asian males.

Take Anas Sarwar and I. We are hardly even diverse between us. We are both male, we were both born and raised in Glasgow’s south side, we are both in our mid-30s, we went to the same private school, we are both middle class and our fathers even come from the same region in Pakistan. His father happens to be the governor of the region; my dad did not quite get there.

The Conservatives, Greens and Liberal Democrats have never had a single person of colour in their MSP ranks in 20 years of devolution. I do not say that to point the finger; I say it because we have to make change. They have never had a single non-white MP from Scotland in their history.

To my colleagues in the Government, I say that we know that we are not immune, either. Some people have been surprised or taken aback by my mention on my social media that at 99 per cent of the meetings that I go to, I am the only non-white person in the room.

Why are we so surprised when the most senior positions in Scotland are filled almost exclusively by people who are white? Take my portfolio, for example. The Lord President is white, the Lord Justice Clerk is white, every High Court judge is white, the Lord Advocate is white, the Solicitor General is white, the chief constable is white, every deputy chief constable is white, every assistant chief constable is white, the head of the Law Society is white, the head of the Faculty of Advocates is white and every prison governor is white.

That is not the case only in justice. The chief medical officer is white, the chief nursing officer is white, the chief veterinary officer is white, the chief social work adviser is white and almost every trade union in the country is headed by white people. In the Scottish Government, every director general is white. Every chair of every public body is white. That is not good enough.

I do not doubt that across the private sector, black and minority ethnic people are similarly underrepresented at senior levels. That is a collective failure that includes every single one of us. I hope that we are sitting uncomfortably, because those should be uncomfortable truths for us all."

On the bit about him and Anas Sarwar being male and from privileged backgrounds, isn’t that just UK politics in a nutshell?

on the lack of non-white msps in Scotland for the Tories, Lib Dems and Greens. How many MSPs from these parties get elected? The big parties in Scotland are Labour and SNP. To get more non-white / people of colour MSPs for Tories, Lib Dem’s or Greens, or indeed For the SNP or Labour, you would need some of the 5% of the non-white / people of colour demographic to be interested in joining these parties, rise through the ranks of the parties, and then get elected. It’ll surely just come down to who is interested enough in politics to get involved and stay involved.

Edit: I’m not involved with any political party, so I’m not sure how easy it is to rise through the ranks for a person of colour, but I would have thought they would be more PC than the rest of society.

  17. On that Humza speech, I just watched it. Had forgotten all about it, but I recall this was during lockdown, in the aftermath of the George Floyd death and BLM protests.

At the time it didn’t really register as particularly dodgy, but 4 years later, it doesn’t sit well to have the FM (a man of Pakistani heritage) saying “white” repeatedly and in a hostile manner. Scotland is a 96% white country by demographics, so you’re looking at a 1 in 20 chance of seeing someone non-white in a top job.

Despite demographics, the leaders of the two parties with any chances of getting into power in Scotland are both non-white. I would have thought if you got to the 1 in 20 stage for these top jobs Humza mentions that would be about right.

Sounds like he got off as they couldn't prove he'd been specifically negligent in allowing his dog to kill another dog.  I'd have thought that this would be kind of implicit in the fact that the dog killed another but there we go.

I'm sure the rescue centre will be absolutely fine, nothing could possibly go wrong.  Cages filled with land sharks that are so uncontrollable their owners had to give them up?  No problemo!

He looks like the sort of c**t I have in my mind when I think ‘who buys an XL Bully’.
