  1. It would have been bad enough going down today if we had played out a scrappy 0-0. In typical Queens’ fashion we get ahead with a few Minutes remaining and lose a dreadful scrambled goal from a long throw despite having everybody back.
Cant understand why we start with both Cameron and Junior up front in the key striking positions. They are honestly two of the poorest finishers I have ever seen in a Queens shirt and trust me there have been plenty of contenders.Paton always seems to be left out - he did more in the short time he was on than the pair of them did in the full 90. Don’t even start me about Connelly being stuck out wide where he literally hasn’t kicked a ball for months. These decisions really bring into question if WG and GM can be trusted with the major rebuild that we face.
Dont like having a pop at Willie because once again he was our best player but these key selection blunders really add up. Junior has had so many chances to deliver and he just keeps on flattering to deceive and we stick Connelly in an alien position and omit Paton to accommodate him?

Agree Paton looked more dangerous when he came on but he also missed a very good chance (which tbf he made for himself) so I don’t think he can really be the striking answer. But Cameron and Soares are so toothless it’s painful. Todd missed a sitter but so did several Ayr forwards so we were lucky to go in level. Todd isn’t captain material imo. Too quiet.

If WG does stay on as manager I think he needs to hang up his boots and focus on it. I don’t think the player manager gig has worked, and it says so much that he’s been our best player this season.
  2. Maybe it's just because the current squad became familiar with WG as a teammate before he was put in interim charge that it happened, but it was disappointing to see Josh Rae very obviously ignoring instructions yesterday.
I'm meaning the incident where Rae, with the ball in his hands, was told by Wullie to play it short and he seemed to shout something back, give a dismissive hand gesture and punt the ball long up the park.
It makes me wonder to what extent the players are playing for the manager and if they are giving him enough respect.  Not a good sign if Wullie does get the job permanently and retains players who don't buy into what he wants them to do.

Noticed in a few games Wullie absolutely blasting various individuals - usually the defence or GK- really blowing his top. For me that’s the captains job on the park. I don’t think the psychology’s been right the last few games. It also sometimes feels like every move has to go through him. Makes us feel very one sided at times.
I’m not sure what the solution is but if Wullie gets the manager role next season I think he needs to hang up his boots. If he wants to keep playing I think he needs to become a team player again.
  3. Better than we've been.
On the strength of the second half, we deserved to win it and were unlucky with the one Gaston touched onto the bar, and obviously with the one headed off the line at the end.
However, draws are not going to be much use to us really.  We were let down on a few occasions by failing to turn great openings into great chances by getting the key pass wrong.  Ultimately, I think that lack of class will be what keeps us bottom, even if we're rejuvenated a bit.
It at least feels less hopeless than it did though.

Agree, in particular think we’re missing something up front. Maybe if Connolly hadn’t gone off injured it might have been different. Cameron played as well as I’ve seen him but think he needs a finisher alongside him. Not sure we have that in the squad.
  4. seems like the board want out, and are passing the buck to any new guys that want to come in.
Well that is the way i read some answers

Yeah I was a bit underwhelmed too with a lack of specifics. No plans to increase the size of the board but all board members looking to jump ship. Not all that reassuring. Would have been nice to hear of some progress being made in that area. Have to say I simply disagree that a board of 3 is good as it aids quick decision making. If it’s the wrong decision, the speed isn’t really relevant, and sacking the manager at this point in a poor season can’t really go down as a quick fire decision.
  5. That's the Johnston approach.  A draw would not have been a good result for us at all today, but he'd probably have seen it as one.
Were Queens fans really clapping at the end?  Bloody baffling.

Some were for sure. Some boos too. I just left. Tbh I don’t think you can fault the attitude of the players. It was a bit of a war of attrition out there and we were holding our own, more so after the East screamer, until 2 minutes of inept defending undid us. There’s definitely a few players that aren’t good enough but couldn’t fault their effort. Can’t see this team staying up even with a new manager tbh so I’d be looking to rebuild for next season in the first now.
  6. If we were to throw that kind of money around I'd much rather we went for a CM that's doesn't become invisible or a CB with a bit more experience in that role.

Cameron is a far better option in the system AJ is sticking within than Griffiths anyway.

And we’ve gone down the road of a star striker in a duff team before haven’t we.

  7. Aye, I'd rather he was with us tbh. We have 7 players on our books who have played CB for us this season and I don't think Dunn has done any worse than any of them. Instead we bring in another young CB to bolster our squad when Dunn would probably have been a fine enough option.

Let us know how he gets on but in the brief spell I've watched him I think he's looked decent enough. A relegation scrap with yourselves will probably be good experience for when he gets regular game time in our side.

I don’t think I’ve seen him play, certainly not in the flesh, but was thinking he must be bad (or at least very lightweight) if he’s a worse option than our current ness of a defence
  8. Mr Hewitson is listed as a director of 12 companies.

Do we know how many ( if any) of these companies have any financial relationship with Queens? I’m not suggesting anything untoward, but it might at least explain an apparent reluctance to hand over the reins in the face of apparently overwhelming loss of confidence from the fans. I can’t see what Mr Hewitson can be getting personally out of the current situation, and it must really hurt the other two board members to be getting compared to the Harkness regime in some quarters.
  9. That was really poor from Queens. Cove deserved their win and looked the more motivated but some howlers in defence and I’m not sure I buy the “World class” first goal either tbh. At first look I thought Bryan should be getting it and certainly misjudged it. It was low enough to be in range.

And as for loan players. Forget it. Scrabbling to stay up is so 2010s. Get a manager in who can build a team to get us promoted out of Div 1 in a couple of seasons cos that’s what we surely need.

  10. It’s been a privilege to watch him. You have to credit him for sticking with us even when we didn’t have the team to support him. Feels a bit unlikely he would join another Scottish club given his commute from home. Would have thought he could find something nearer home. Agree it would be nice to have a testimonial of some sort.

Should have scored a 3rd when we were 2 up. I’m disappointed at that. Defo 2 points dropped. McCabe pussyfooting about for their first and a free header from a corner for their second.

Yep - Arbroath probably can argue they were the better team given the first half was a nonentity but that was really lazy defending for their first (twice) not sure if it was McCabe both times but plenty of chances to get stuck in and get the ball away.
