  1. The guys that film the games at Morton have kindly sent us their footage for our management to analyse.

It looks like it was filmed correctly but that the feed from the camera was accidentally cropped before it was broadcast to the world.

Well that at least explains it. You felt even a bad cameraman had to get lucky some of the time. Shame nobody from the club was watching as that could have been picked up in the first 5 minutes and fixed
  2. I think the big long terracing alongside the pitch is a major plus.
    A cracking ground.
It's up there with Morton's and ours.

Really? I’m not saying Palmy isn’t good but I know two guys who won’t go to Cappielow because they’re over 6 feet and can’t fit in the seats. You have to rule it out on that basis. The one time we got on the terrace in the rain and it was taps aff can’t make up for a shit stand
  3. To be honest, if he’s clattered right through the man, nowhere near the ball, that would be a stonewaller. Having seen it back, it’s a definite penalty but that’s different to being a stonewaller. For me, a stonewaller is one that nobody can dispute at the game and is clear for everyone to see. Not one that you need to see again.

The defender definitely looks like he gets the man before the ball. However, it’s one officials quite often don’t give, as they’re unsure whether the defender catches the man before the ball or not and they can’t be giving penalties unless they’re completely sure of the decision. It wasn’t far off being a great challenge. Ethan Ross did very well moving his body a bit, to make sure he got the contact.

Yep this. Had to watch it several times. Ross gets his foot in front of the defenders challenge to turn it from a risky tackle into a penalty. Difficult to be too harsh on the defender though as he had to do something or it was getting cut across the goal for a tap in.
  4. Really? Remember the collection buckets when we didn’t have a home game for weeks? The losses year after year? The additional income streams, implemented by this board mean we’re not as reliant on gate money.

I keep hearing we should sack the board etc. Why? The club is financially stable. Do you really want overspending and the club going to wall?
If Hewitson goes, do you see a willing benefactor to come in and out millions into the club?
Things aren’t good, but getting rid of the board is unlikely to make them better.

It’s natural to want change at the top when things aren’t going well but that’s not really an option unless you have an alternative waiting in the wings. I don’t know the chairman at all but you really couldn’t get any bigger Queens men than Craig and Mark. If anything it feels like we are a bit short on numbers in the boardroom.
  5. From what I've gathered, it's not so much the referee's decision that's getting it in the neck (I too can understand), but more the appeals process who bizarrely agreed with it despite having as good a view as you'll ever get.

In the media yes, but on this thread the ref is getting a lot of stick. Deserves a bit of stick but you’re right it’s the panel system that’s flawed
  6. I looked up the video out of interest because they were making such a big fuss of it on off the ball. Think you are being way too harsh on the Referee here. On the behind the goal camera it’s not obvious there’s any contact and he looks like he goes down quite enthusiastically. From the opposite angle there’s clearly some contact . From the refs angle he probably sees the enthusiastic fall and makes an assumption if he hasn’t seen the contact. Sounds like the SFA has come to its senses though and is looking at it again.

9 month ago certain people were screaming for AJs return now there supprised when he doesn't seem to show commitment

What do you expect from a man who left us for supposedly better once before failed and came crawling back

I don't think that makes sense on several counts. What has he done to not show commitment? Sure hes done some things that lots of us disagree with but that's not a lack of commitment, a lack of clarity maybe or even of common sense, but not commitment. Not sure he came crawling back either. We were surely down last season if we hadn't sacked Naysmith. The only thing I disagreed with at the time was the manner, not the action. It felt like Johnstone got the mojo back into a lost squad for the play offs. He's had a pretty slim squad to pick from this season although I think its fair to say we are underperforming all the same. Losing the keeper was unfortunate but a big blow and if I say I' not worried about being relegated its more because in a sense I'm slightly looking forward to something different next season.

Yep, I was wrong at the time. That’s definitely a penalty for handball.

That free-kick awarded for diving from Comrie in the 2nd half is laughable too. As much as it wasn’t an infringement, he’s trying to get out the way from being body checked by the player. Referee was on ket or something yesterday.

Agree about the penalty but that was a dive and deserved a booking IMO

  9. There's always a lot of chat on here about why the crowds are dwindling and what can be done to stop this. I was looking at our squad with the recent comings and goings and was thinking that apart from Dobbie I really don't feel all that connected to any of them any more.  To be fair I've not lived in the town for over 30 years and have never been a season ticket holder, but back in the 80s I used to go to 15-20 matches a season but that's been going down fairly steadily since then to maybe half a dozen these days.

There's reasons other than football that I don't get down to Dumfries as much as I'd like but I'm absolutely certain that the huge turnover of players every season is a big factor in my deteriorating attendance. Back in the day we seemed to have players on longer term contracts and even the occasional testimonial and you felt like you knew the likes of Andy Aitken and Jim Thomson, even Dougie Mills and he was no player, but nowadays we don't seem to be able to hang onto anyone for more than a season and a half. I know theres financial reasons for that to an extent but it seems to affect us worse than some other clubs and I'm sure I cant  be alone in feeling disconnected. This isn't a gripe about the board at all - and I'm not sure there even is a solution.

  10. I thought Muirhead should have been sent off, surprised it wasn't mentioned already or by any of the BBC pundits who were at the game. Don't see how he can have made a genuine attempt at the ball from so far behind Dobbie.

Looked to be taken out from behind from my view behind the goal. I was assuming it was some interpretation of that rule that says it’s no longer a red card if you also give a penalty. But it’s never been all that clear to me how that works. Doubt there would have been much argument if he’d gone.

There is a perception that this season’s defence/defending is better than last season’s. But at the same stage last season, we had conceded 19 goals, exactly the same as this season.  The biggest difference is in goals scored - 26 at this stage last season, 16 this season. If we had managed to score 8 more goals, spread across the games against Ayr and Alloa away and Inverness and Thistle at home (the games a few people have said we “deserved” to win) we’d be second in the league on 30 points. But we’re not, for the simple reason that the defence is no better than last season and the goal scoring considerably worse than at the same stage.

Scoring goals has actually been a problem for almost the whole of 2019. I think it was 8 goals in the last 15 games of last season. And if you exclude the 2 exceptional results v Ayr and Dundee U, we’ve scored 9 goals in 14 games this season.

Is it no about time you changed your profile pic Flash?     Not Moriarty any more

    ...Stonewall penalty missed.

Just watched the highlights as wasn't at the game. Maybe not the best angle but its hard to see any definite contact. Not sure you could call it a stonewaller from that but maybe more obvious from the Portland Road angle.
