It’s going to take some time to accept the image of him in a Celtic top. Having said that, a model pro who gave everything for us and his application cannot be faulted.
Wish Luke all the best and happy for him to realize his dream of playing for Celtic even if it is a bit raw this morning!

With how well he seems to be regarded by the Dundee fanbase reassures me we have a good one and I’m sure he will make an impact, he seems to be that type of guy who will grab the opportunity with both hands or that left peg

They've had, what, three months to get the players in that they want, and they're scrambling about on the last day to sign players vital to their season. Small club mentality.

    I agree to a point.

Whilst we are certainly upping the spending we take a while to get business done and trying to negotiate transfers after ever club in Europe knows we have just pocketed 25 million leaves us open to teams pushing up their price and with little time to pivot if alternatives need to be found.

EEh, it were grand when they used to have a quarantined section of Pie’n’Bovril  that meant we were not exposed to the tit for tat whitabootery bile and nonsense.

That was posted in by a large number of non Celtic and Rangers fans who couldn’t stay away and loved nothing more to be in the middle of the tit for tat whitaboutery bile and nonsense.

Not expecting anything out of this. A good display against County has merely papered over some major cracks in this side.

Clement indicated we'd have more transfers coming in this week but I'm doubtful whoever we bring in will have any influence over the outcome of this.

We often seem to concede early in these matches and end up leaving ourselves a bit of a mountain to climb. I think we need to aim to frustrate and play our way into the game afterwards if we want anything from it.

Off the pitch, in the words of a legendary figure around Celtic Park way - "football without fans is nothing", it's a shame that Celtic have decided that this ethos should only apply to the home support yet again.

Came for the obligatory “get them pumped” kiss of death from you so disappointed in that regard.

Redeemed yourself by giving me a good laugh with your tear stained diatribe about fans. You created the mess, you now deal with the mess. Our stadium was ready to go, yours isn’t so your issue imo.

As for the game, hoping for us to dish out an absolute f**king scudding of biblical proportion but will settle for a win of any scoreline and await who will be the new face in the Ibrox dugout in October as they drift further towards the diddyship

Where did he say it wasn’t true?

From my memory Rodgers said he was having a tough time personally and Abada said it had been difficult.

Please feel free to quote me where he gave the reason why he left.

ETA - why did he leave if it wasn’t in his plans to do so?

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68507625.amp

He is quoted there as saying “thanks to all the Celtic fans who stood by me”. That’s not “I thank all Celtic fans” it’s “I thank the ones who didn’t turn on me”.

So if he didn’t want to leave, and Rodgers referred to the ongoing situation in Gaza as a reason, and he left after Celtic fans celebrated a terrorist attack against his home country - then give me a quote about the real reason he left.

I’m not going to derail this thread which has nothing to do with Abada or Celtic by indulging your whataboutery but if you really want to circle back around this particularly subject and have it taken apart (again), jump into the Celtic thread and post your thoughts there and you will get an answer

The only time I seen any Rangers fan mention Hagi being our player during the Euros was when a prominent Celtic twitter account incorrectly said we had no players in the knockout stage of the Euros. If that's considered big licks, or you've seen something different than I have, then fair enough.

Seen a bit on X over the summer with similar sentiment with Rangers fans flexing over Hagi being still in the tournament quite often as part of a Callum McGregor pile on

Because if rumours are to be believed, if he makes a few more appearances he is due a bumper wage increase. Apparently that’s why we have not been playing and won’t be playing him going forward. He is wasted just sitting about doing nothing.

He’s a better option than a lot of what you currently have, the irony of this is many Rangers fans giving it big licks about him being their player during the Euros as he was doing well for Romania and now he is persona non grata as you can’t afford to pay him. 😂

Celtic only need to get into the top 24 in the champions league for it to be a success, which would probably mean about 8 points from 8 games.
Like I said before St Brendan is being very clever by pointing the finger at the board and the dosh in the bank.
He never takes any responsiblity on the regression of the squad when every Celtic fan can see it.

You could argue that Rodgers is partly responsible for the fee we just received for O’Riley then as the player he was last season was vastly improved from the seasons before so not sure that is completely accurate in all cases. O’Riley also looked a much happier player and sure he may have intimated that at points too.

St Brendan is suppose to be an elite Manager yet Neil Lennon has had better results in Europe,Celtic paid £9 million for Eddy and now paid £8.5 million for Idah, where is his 2 or 3 million pound player that goes for 20 million?
Sinclair has been his best signing over two spells at Celtic yet we got nothing for him.
For me St Brendan doesn't fit the model or strategy of the club.

Lennon may have gotten better results in Europe but he was also had a spectacular failure domestically too and in the long run it’s hard to argue against that Brendan Rodgers is a better manager

And Deila had little to do with Dembele, he was well on his road out before we started doing that deal and no club is allowing the manager they are trying to push out to dictate future signings, you are allowing your dislike of Rodgers to cloud your common sense.

But like I said modern managers have next to nothing to do with transfer fees paid, fees received or wages paid. They effectively agree a list of targets and the recruitment team do the rest.

But surely there is the limiting factor that 20M guys are not willing to come to Scotland in the first place?

And Brighton, while clearly a much smaller club, know that there is a disgustingly big bag of loot coming their way from the EFA every year which will pay for all these ludicrous purchases.

Most likely because we have a very rigid wage structure that we won’t deviate from and yes there is merit to say that structure has kept us healthy but we should now be in a place where if we want to move up a level, the level of fee and the level of salary has to move to.

i don’t see us regularly doing 20 million pound transfers in however we could stretch what we currently do to bring in some players in that 10-15 million bracket whilst continuing to do what we have been with young players, developing and selling for big profit.

A year on and Celtic have regress,St Brendan is very clever pointing the finger at the board but he has the last say in any transfer made,so for me the responsiblity is on him.

Most modern managers don’t get a huge amount of say in negotiations over transfers, they mainly identify the type of player they need and recruitment team and the board do the rest. Christ I’ve even heard today we have lowballed Ausburg on Engels.

It’s becoming clearer by the day with his little quips he’s frustrated that the board aren’t bringing in who he wants, when he wants them.

Held to account for making celtic the dominant team In the last 15 years?

And what have we done since establishing that dominance other than get richer? You are the first to put the boot in when we fail in Europe, do you think what he has done to improve us in those competitions could be considered a job well done?

It was Transfermarkt I was looking at which has your transfer spend as:

    24/25: €15.1m

    23/24: €25.86m

    22/23: €38.88m

    21/22: €26.47

That’s a total of €106.31m. As you mention, the Jota fee was reported on there as 17m instead of 7m, so I made a deduction and if we say €96m, then converting and rounding down to £80m, I can’t see many other fees that look like they’d be reported incorrectly.

So maybe it’s just me not being appreciative of the overall situation (you mention the striker and left back issues), but I was just surprised to see that level of abuse directed regarding the lack of transfer spend when it’s not as if Celtic have been spending a pittance.

We drag our feet every window and leave ourselves in position where we have to rush last minute deals when there is absolutely no need, the spend sometimes reflects that. We are granted Champions League so no need to wait and see if we qualify.

I read that since Rangers came back into the league we have brought in £230 + million in transfer fees which is around £150 million more than Rangers and whilst we have dominated the Scottish game we haven’t really moved forward. We are extremely cash rich to the point it’s actually pointless having those sort of cash reserves when the product on the park doesn’t match it.

I can’t justify the abuse of the guy in that manner, it’s not necessary but he should be held to account but it has to be in the right way
