  1. A lot of talk about some pitches Cowden could use around the town. Just highlights where the club is.  Nothing more than an amateur/average junior team level. It’s really time to close the gates, it’s that much of a shambles.
    Adios

  2. I may have a bit of knee jerk reaction here, time will tell. However, Goodwin and go and f**k himself into the sea. **** are weak at the back but strong in midfield and upfront. We are getting wired into them and decide to abandon the successful strategy for the same negative shite that got is fuxk all at the weekend.
thanks Jim, xmas ruined ya negative small team minded inferiority complexed c**t.

  3. He tried something, it didn’t work and it bored the life out of the fans.

Let’s hope he learns from it and moves on. To have so little threat going forward in a home game is not acceptable, everyone can see that.

Goodwins comments sometimes concern me, he has such an inferiority complex regarding Celtic games.

Get at Sevco 2012 on Tuesday please and move on from that experiment. They have defensive issues alledgedly, so let’s test them.

Long term isnt necessarily 5/6 years.

Our regular starting 11 has 3 loanees, and 6 players over 30. One of those under 30 (Hallberg) is out of contract this Summer.

Aberdeen spend a fortune on Miovski types as theyll hope to recoup it via sales. We're spending a fortune on Considine, McGowan, Carey and Clark, who we'll never sell. We've spent more in the past 12 months on fees than combined in the previous 20 years, and are unlikely to get any back as it stands.

This is true, but was probably needed to ensure you were a good enough team.

It’s all about short term for most of the clubs though to be honest. Managers and players change so regularly these days. Sounds like you have a base though to gradually add younger players to, and with a bit of luck 1 or 2 of them might improve and make you a few quid. You need to be the established team first though.

They're still here - satisfied that he has managed to turn it and change his setup. He was historically bad last year and still has massive question marks about his long term strategy tbh.

Hard to please are the saintees.
Even harder to have long term strategy in this league. Sign a player who does well and someone with more money takes them away pretty quickly. For this see Miovski as an example. Been here 5 months and rumours of potential bids/moves already. He’s not even that amazing, just had a decent enough start and scored a few of which a lot are penalties.

  6. As others have mentioned, Goodwin hasn’t yet got the balance right between making it as hard as possible to concede, and applying our own pressure in pressing and attack.

Its almost as if he is trying too hard to be a tactical genius.

That must be the quietest pittodrie has been for a while, especially 2nd half. Can’t see the fans standing for that style.

Absolutely have to pressurise the opponent much harder and higher on Tuesday, or he will come in for some severe criticism.
Sevco have had some centre half issues so have to get at their potential weak spot.

    Also, Hayes has to play.

    Buckley and Lamont 🤩

Neil Irvine was my favourite. Wore his heart on his sleeve.

The Brownlie team my favourite Cowden squad.

Good times mate. I ended up playing with 2 or 3 of that squad in later years. John Wright was a class player to play with

Really? Did their ground used to have proper terracing along the side? I remember being on terracing at the time. Willie Syme (aka Willie T) put the cross in and Sumo rose like a blue whale and scored my favourite live goal of all time. I was still a kid but I remember shouting 'what a fucking goal!!!' When it went in.

    ❤️

was also there, didn’t miss many games in the Buckley/Lamont days

Aye, we have had some good times. Some of mine are listed below. Won't be in right order date wise.

East Fife 0 Cowden 5 - derby win

Stenhousemuir 2 Cowden 4 - Sumo overhead kick

    Aĺloa 0 Cowden 0 - promotion

Partick Thistle 0 Cowden 1 - win in the cup

    Dunfermline 0 Cowden 2 - derby win

Cowden 2 Brechin 1 - promotion. Toorie header.

Cowden 2 Elgin 1 - title. Helicopter. 'Singing champoinees as a Cowden fan'

    Brechin 0 Cowden 3 - promotion.

    Cowden 2 Forfar 0 - title

    Hamilton 1 Cowden 3 - stayed up

    Cowden 4 Dunfermline 2 - derby win

    Dunfermline 0 Cowden 3 - stayed up

Load more, but these are most of the top ones that I can think of.

    Honorary mentions:

Peterhead (Highland League) 1 Cowden 1 - Scottish Cup. Best own goal ever.

Cowden 5 Edinburgh Uni 1 - scottish cup. All those toffs in Cowdenbeath.

    Aye 1? Cowden 4 - humped them

Also, any time Markus had the ball.

Edit: I am starting to doubt the overhead kick was at Stenny. Was it maybe Arbroath?

The 4-3 greatest comeback ever at Stirling has to be on that list. Incredible feelings that day

Fans meeting on 10th January. At Central Park. Opportunity for people to come and listen and ask questions. There will be some positive news to come at that meeting also.

    👍 will go to that

Aye. I remember heading to the cage to say hello to our townie neighbours when the second Callaghan goal went in. I think the Herald described the small Cowden support as 'exploding' at that point.

Was also there, at the fence 😁

That result blew their promotion chance as well.
Big Bob (rip) was on top form that day

Back in the 90s a Cowden v Meadowbank game unexpectedly went ahead thanks to a mad ref deciding the pitch was playable

Legend has it the ref asked for an orange ball, Cowden didn't have one, and they had to get the manager of Intersport in the High Street to open up so they could buy one...

I’m sure I remember this, but it might have been matchplay sports in the high street?.

Jimmy Blair. He is the "Nottingham Supporters Club".

Seems like an arse. Thrown his toys out the pram as he didn't get his wish, i.e. - the manager wasn't sacked at the end of the season.

    Ah right, cheers.

So he’s going to run the club from Nottingham when everyone resigns.
