Brian Cameron has always been one of the better players whenever I've seen Elgin.  Was there not Championship sides after him last pre-season?

Blair Yule was on trial with Doncaster last year and played in a friendly against Newcastle and apparently asserted himself very well (I forget why they didn't sign him).

I heard a guy was walking past the stadium today with his shorts on and Brian Rice immediately invited him in for a trial.

  2. In all this I have always thought that Rangers (in some form) will be playing in the SPL next season. Nothing has happened that makes me doubt this. The fact Club 12 hasn't been decided upon adds to my feeling that this will be the case.

Interesting post given the Yorkston interview this morning on BBC Scotland where he mentioned that should the vote for the newco mean the third division then the SPL would step in, he wouldn't elaborate but it made me think there's mair shite to come.

If the above scenario did arise where the SPL relented and took the newco in then I can see that being a death knell for scottish football, because I and I am sure many others would shun their club.

  3. Sandy - Can we just get one thing clear as I am agreeing with yer post - but am I replying to Sandy Cromarty or am I replying to Sandy Cromarty and Sophie or am I actually replying to Sandy Cromarty, Sophie and myself. And, just in case Sophie joins in to this discussion will I be replying to Sophie or will I be replying to Sophie and Sandy Cromarty or will I actually be replying to Sophie, Sandy Cromarty and myself. Lets just hope that yon Johndo Mackenzie does'nt get involved in this as well.

May also start a book on how many of the stoopid gudgies are complexed by this.

    Yer through to Sandy caller.

  4. Agreed. I stopped posting much on it in the last couple of seasons for a number of different reasons (loss of anonymity being the main one), but nowadays it's barely worth reading at all. It used to be full of guys that were pretty switched on and fairly balanced (most of whom are on here nowadays anyway) but the majority on it now seem to be either trolls, or just plain stupid.

Feck me, talk about stating the obvious, Ross County fans stupid?

  5. Did SP not come out pretty early last week (Tuesday PM? Can't quite remember) demanding assurances they would be paid for the Killie game? It struck me then that they would be demanding cash ASAP after the game, if not up front.

In fact, the way they made that demand public so soon after admin being announced, it made me think that they've maybe had problems getting their money over the last few months.

You're probably right there, maddening though that the clubs like ourselves and Dunfermline won't see a penny probably.

  6. In many respects its only confirming what everyone already suspected.

Ultimately the money paid-off the bank debt, which we keep being told had to be shifted. The fact it did so through the circuitus route of Whyte is only relevant if he's creamed-off the £6.4M extra, though it may have gone into running costs alongside (we assume) the £9M in unpaid taxes, which is possible as wasn't ~£6M "added" last year when they couldn't meet the first repayment?

Rangers might as easily have 'mortgaged' their own STs themselves to pay their own debt themselves.

It seems incredibly unlikely Ticketus are idiots, though. They must've:

[1] known what Whyte was doing when they lent him it pre-takeover

[2] surely have some form of security to prevent them losing the lot

    Questions are:

    [1] where's the remaining 'cash'

    [2] what's Whyte's big plan here

    [3] what's Ticketus's "safety-net"

This is only front page, there's still the £59 million debt to the revenue that was in place before he took over the club.

  7. To read and understand properly what is about to happen will take me some time but it seems that I've grasped this. A lot of people/clubs are about to get screwed and yet the HMRC can do nothing about it and the SPL won't. In actual fact the SPL will no doubt do all it can to help Rangers through this "difficult time" and remain a part of the league just to protect a deal with a broadcaster who really doesn't give a shit about said league. How did I do?

You've probably read these already, I plucked them from the Huffy Post.

The SPL cannot do anything to help Rangers, they are only the SPL organisational/administrative body representing all other SPL clubs, I don't know if it is possible within their guidelines but they could maybe approach each member for a contribution but thats highly unlikely, and fact is I doubt if the other clubs could afford to give anything away, plus here is a club which added a percentage onto away fans tickets, that may sound petty and irrelevant but thats only part of the arrogance showed to other clubs over the years, and little things like that are not forgotten.

    What sanctions have been imposed?

The club has been docked 10 points by the Scottish Premier League.

If it remains in administration beyond this season, it will begin the new campaign on minus 10 points. Rangers will also be stopped from registering any new players with the Scottish Premier League, with the only exception being the signing of an emergency goalkeeper.

    What about European football?

Rangers have to prove to the Scottish Football Association that its finances are in shape before 31 March or face expulsion from Europe next season.

Rangers need a Uefa club licence to compete in the Champions League and the Europa League next season - provided they qualify. Administration does not automatically exclude a club from getting a licence but a number of complex criteria would have to be met, meaning the chances of obtaining a licence would be low.

How long are Rangers likely to be in administration?

Rangers hope a period of administration would last no longer than a few weeks.

A company voluntary arrangement (CVA) is drafted to try to reach agreement with creditors in order to exit administration. The club has put forward a CVA proposal to HMRC in which creditors would be paid and provisions made for the HMRC case.

  8. Lets get this thread back on top with talk of Caledonian FC, this obsessive posting on Inverness Caledonian Thistle needs to stop.

Ok they are first division champions and back in the SPL but you lads need to focus on Caledonian FC's glory days?????????????????????

And the Famous First Division Champions Caley will be hosting Glasgow Celtic on the 12th of August as their opening SPL Game.

    Thats Scottish Premier League!

Not some rural backwater from yesteryear.

  9. I'm being serious for a change!!

Livingston in their heyday were a breath of fresh air, yes they have been a bit reckless in their spending vis a vis taking Barry Wilson, McCulloch and that french canadian chancer/dancer from us and paying them £1400 a week basic when we were paying them £400.00 in the first div but they also gave me one of the best football days out when they beat us 4-3 in a great game.

I am sorry for their demise but it was inevitable that given the sorry state of scottish football that it would happen to a club and I'm surprised that more don't fall, especially in the central belt.

  10. C'mon now guys, you know you love me really, look at all the extra posts you've had on me instead of bleating on about fan mags, ex players and all your usual boring shite, I have rejuvenated the six of you by adding to your hate of the Famous Caley with my own forum persona.

Why don't I see you on the caleythistleonline ICT forum?? are you six barred from there?

Nobody had heard of you six on the SPL forum until I entered your miserable little lives and now you have a starring role on there with the ICT going down thread (sorry btw that it looks like it isn't going to pan out for you), admittedly there is some bewilderment from central belt fans about your sanity but best ignore that as we don't need you further confused over your crusade, keep faith and maybe one day The Famous Caley will go bust and you will be able to have, 'See I telt ye' chiseled onto your headstones.

Cue another ten posts on the barstard Sandy Cromarty, doncha just love it?
