For the very same reason why Kuss paced Roglic up L'Angrilu in 2020 - despite Roglic suffering up the climb and Kuss paced him all the way to the top, despite the fact he was on a very good day himself.

By that logic, Kuss should've just dropped Roglic in the red jersey, left him to fend for himself,  and plotted him own way up the mountain.

Totally different situation.  That day, Roglic was in a tight GC battle with Kuss nowhere near.

Now, Jumbo have the GC wrapped up and Kuss is going to win because of team orders, not because he's the best rider.  It stinks, frankly, and worse than that, it's boring.

I really don't understand why they're not telling Vingegaard to back off here. Kuss has been a rock for years, a pivotal part of Giro and TdF wins, yet he's still being pushed every day by the Danish Landis. If Kuss doesn't win it's absolutely disgusting.

I genuinely don't get your view on this.  Jumbo have the GC wrapped up.  Why shouldn't they race between themselves?  If Kuss isn't as good as the other 2, and it appears he isn't, why should he be allowed to win?  Especially as the riders racing each other is about the only possibility for entertainment left in this race.

Could this, their treatment of Kuss, be the straw that breaks the camels back? He’s been integral to every single GT TJV have raced/won over the past 5+years. That their egos got in the way of supporting the rider leading GC spoke volumes.

I've been thinking for well over a year that he should jump ship to become the GC lead at another team.  No idea whether that's feasible in terms of money or other teams' willingness, or, frankly, his TT ability.

That pair of cnuts just fcukd Kuss over big style. Stroke of luck Landa hanging in there, to pace him back. But the Spaniards shake of the head spoke volumes.

Lloyd, Blythe &, especially Kelly, we’re incredulous on the Breakaway.

As much as you can have a pop at Jumbo, they are at least making it a genuine race between the 3 contenders.  Imagine how much more boring it would be it they rode through together as a 1-2-3.  If Kuss can't stick with Vingegaard and Roglic, it's quite right they ride away and increase their lead on the other teams.

On average speed cameras, I used to travel a lot quite late at night through the ones on the M74 a good few years ago, and was convinced only two of the cameras were operational as they had an obvious infrared glow you could see in the dark.

The two in question were the same two throughout the entire period of the works.

How accurate that assumption was I have no idea, nor if it was, if it is still the case today.

Pedantry alert: if it's infrared light you wouldn't be able to see it, by definition.

Why is this game being played on a Friday night?

I stupidly assumed Viaplay were showing it as a David and Goliath spectacle then realised neither Rangers or Celtic are involved.

Saturday 19th clashes with the Stirling Highland games which is held near Forthbank.  We were originally scheduled to play an away game in the league on that day.

BBC with a completely English presenting crew transported North doing the mens ITT. Not as if BBC Scotland couldn’t have supplied some presenters on it. They even carted up Claire Balding for it!

    Flicked over to Eurosport.

I enjoyed Brian thingy giving some good local knowledge on Eurosport, except when he mistook Ben Ledi for Ben Lomond.

  8. Just lost a KOM to a French U23 I'd never heard of.  Would have been pretty cool to have one taken by WVA / MVDP / Pog etc, but this feels like a kick in the nuts, especially as I've no chance of getting it back.

  9. Wondered why there were so few endurance track events in the first few days of the championships... then today I see the BBC coverage starts the women's madison with 45 laps left out of 120.  Then I find there's a whole load of other endurance events they didn't even bother showing!

Fúcking useless.  Eurosport from now on.

Great pics, especially the top one - terrifying how much they lean into corners.

You must be speedy!!  Or is it on a segment from the place they were stationary for about an hour 🤣

Short segments - the power these guys can sustain for 6 hours, I can sustain for 1-2 minutes!

  11. My first Scotland match today, went with my kids.

First half was dire on the pitch and no atmosphere.  Second half was superb and the crowd really lifted too.  Really amazing to pull it back with 14 men.

Managed to get the first tram leaving after the stadium, the kids enjoyed it, plus the Albion won, so all in all a successful day.
