  1. Not long back from the hospital. Baby Anna born this morning just after midnight following 4 and half hour labour. Mother and daughter doing well.just over 8lb's. Thank god I'm not a woman! Will get them picked up in the morning. Pleased as punch. Think that will be the last one now and can't wait to tell the wee man in the morning. First song on the radio on way home Blondie - sunday girl. Knackared and off to sleep as busy day today now and having to post this on my phone.
  2. i started our ensuite in october and its still not finished. also still still no baby yet
  3. update baby 2 days late now but thought missus was going for emergency c section today after midwife thought baby was side on instead of head down. So she rushed to stirling for a scan only to be told its all ok and go home. I was halfway there as well. Her inducement date if it doesnt go before then is the 11th of July world cup final date needless to say hot curry for tea, pineapple for pudding, feet and hot water and later. god sake it drags in. getting real now.
  4. still nothing yet. 1 week to go..............trying all the usual old wives tales to get things moving but nothings working yet now trying to make sure im not working to far away as trying to get back from glasgow in a rush is a nightmare.
  5. crikey this has slipped a bit. only just over two weeks to go. im public enemy number 1. hope to christ this wean hurries up and comes along
  6. bumpity bump. first strawberry eaten yesterday by the wee man. there are hundreds on the plants. Been neglecting the garden a lot due to working like feck. Grass needs cut the courgette is like a triffid. Carrots and lettuce by the bucket load. need to get back into it.
  7. cats hate getting scooshed by water. they also dont like lavender. Theres a spray you can buy that comes in a green container from garden centres that are quite good. i bought a few more tubs and troughs from homebase today for my carrots and beans and stuff. i dont have enough space for rhubarb but luckily my old man has some and is bringing it round. Rhubarb crumble
  8. First load of lettuce and radish picked today and eaten for dinner. Most stuff coming on great. Got celery, parsnips and carrots in the ground. Constant battle keeping the birds away from the blueberry bush, blackcurrants and rasps. the blighters even got under the netting. Is it just me or does there seem to be more cgarden pests? The slugs are kept at bay with the john smiths so far. Mice are being kept at bay with the trap. Got pumpkins and corgettes coming on great too but the butternut squash is proving difficult. all the dig in stuff has been sown. Asda has a good deal on 70l compost bags 2 for £6 and the stuffs okay. I seem to spend a fortune at garden centres these days. A lot of flowers from last year are coming on great like the dahlies and begonias. lavantara and cesonosis that i thought might be dead are coming back. Hanging baskets planted up too so looks like plenty of flowers and veg. Will need to get some pics taken,.
  9. The wee man fell out his bed last night at half 2. Crapped myself becasue i thought he had fallen down the stairs. Up like a flash and wife must have wondered at the speed my bare arse flying out he door to see what was wrong. Once the wee one comes along he will be imprisoned by the stair gate again. 8 weeks to go and counting. I forgot how much fun it is to watch someones stomach contort and jut out due to the baby. Is it a leg or a hand?
  10. bollox some of my lettuce in the wee green house have shrivelled up and the sweetcorn looks past it to. I've just not had the time to ook after them enough due to work
  11. I have to concur with the others it was the wierdest high ever. I didnt want to go and remember driving back home with a huge smile on my face and driving back through plean of all places when over the rainbow played o some random CD that was in the car. Got the old heart stings going i'll tell you Sat in the house and thought how different things were going to be and to get stuff ready. had a beer and text loads of folk. COuldnt sleep at all and picking up the wife and the wee man the next day was fantastic
  12. Glad to hear they are doing better. Note to self if anybody else posts something like this pre our second child DONT FECKING READ IT Now im kacking myself again..........I thought our first was aa bit of a mare but your experience beats it hands down.
  13. ive got a cherry tree and a pear tree round the back that i planted last year and both looking great now, dont expect fruit till maybe next year but we will see. Sweetcorn looks like a planted it too early and it almost all looks fecked. will give it a little longer. Thats 2 days and 2 mice caught though. They we barstewards wont get my peas this year
  14. Whats with the herras fencing in pic 1? You should stake the peach tree either side to stop it moving about too much and help it keep straight.
  15. congrats hope the missus doing well. I sympathise on the trauma but thank feck it wasnt me pushing it out............
  16. congrats. Crikey that was quick. hope the missus goes as quick the next time as well. she was a lot longer than that. All these folk saying theyve just had a wean is giving me the jitters again its only 11 weeks tilll number 2 arrives.its starting to get real again
  17. Mines was in the ground and although the top was dead there are loads of new shoots at the base.Bearing in mind were in stenny and its a bit milder down here. Put it outside and give it a few weeks. If you do put things like that in the garage you should still spray them with water every now and again and they really stilll need a bit light.
  18. you can buy an aerator which just makes wee holes and it is easier to use than a fork but i stab it with the fork about every 6". you get lawn sand from garden centres its about 5 or 6 quid a bag/box not cheap but it does work. Ive used the evergreen complete and it seems to do the trick but watch not get it on your feet and trail it in the hoose as it stains carpet
  19. give it a good rake with a leaf rake to get all the dead grass out and lift the young shoots. Get a fork or aerator and give the lawn a good airing, put lawn sand in the holes it makes and give it a good watering. Now is a good time to treat a lawn and have it looking plush. gave mine the first cut today and a bit of a rake.It knocks feck out your back but it makes it easier later on as you get less weeds.Givce it a good feed.
  20. ive got one of them as well the grow at some amount and look great.
  21. Been in the garden most of today. Ive got a greenhouse coming so had to make space by moving the veg patch.Took out a coupls of tonnes of clay and many trips to coup. Its getting there, levelled the site for the greenhouse so got the base to make and some slabbing to do. fed all the plants and planted some sweetcorn, celery, carrrots, parsnips, pumpkin, butternut squash and a few others. Put some in the soil under two kinda mini greenhouse covers, some in the portBLE GREENHOUSE IVE HAD FOR AGES AND SOME ON THE WINDOW SILL. iDAMN THE CAPS LOCK Its still a bit early to put some bedding plants and young veg out without putting them under cover of glass or a cloche. Its to be a bit nippet the night. Later in the week is to get colder as well. Best thing to do is put them out during the day when warm and take the young plants back in at night for a couple of weeks to harden them off. slugs are a pure nightmare. ive got some beer in jars in the ground but its mice we get. last year i caught about 18 of the buggars. They live under the sheds roundabout but the old snap traps are great.they destroy the seedlings just as quick as slugs. spent a shit load at the garden centre today but nithing beats eating your own stuff.
  22. Im dreading that as well. Its bad enough working till all hours at the mo but at least the wee man has a great routine. Bed at 8 and up at 7:30. Starts the school after the summer as well Better make that 5.. The wee man has had it for a week as well. Almost finished the antibiotics and getting better. That said he is very prone to tonsilitis. Missus has 14 weeks to go till no.2 arrives where does the time go?
