I've heard Mixu is still living locally and waiting for the call!
The first part is correct the second part I am not so sure about as currently working for UEFA.

The winner of that play off should be automatically promoted. Promotion play offs are one of my favourite things about football, but there should always be an automatic promotion and relegation to go alongside them.
If an ambitious club smashes the Lowland/Highland League and wins by 20 points, and then defeats their regional counterpart in a play off, they deserve to be promoted. If that scenario occurs but going into the play offs they have key players injured, or as we’ve seen the team that finishes bottom of L2 starts to rest players to remove them from the potential losing mentality, and they lose a two legged play off, it’s a bit of an injustice imho.
Out of curiosity how is "an ambitious club" defined?

Davie Fowlis sports shop where you bought your season ticket back in the day had that and the Intersport shop managed by former Pars player Willie Cunningham.
Yes I think I still have an old season ticket book from there

When I was young I was at a few Cowden games when they just cleared the lines and played with an orange ball with the players wearing trainers if the pitch was too hard to take a stud.
Remember those days well I think the ball came from the Fowlis general store.

Every team will have injuries. We'll just have to get on with it. If we don't give away too many corners/set pieces (Craig Barr!) we should be OK.
Craig Barr is no longer with Tranent

Kept an eye on your result the day and was pleased when I saw you 2-0 up so early.
Ashame it ended a draw, liked what I saw from you and hoping you do well.
Anyone but EK please.
Good win for you guys today equally I keep an eye on your results and enjoy watching Arbroath upset the establishment in the Championship that to me is more about progression in Scottish football than a money backed fantasy operation that woud have Tom English salivating about ambition etc..........

I think for me being from Edinburgh it might be that Stuart Adamson is always associated with being from Dunfermline (I know he was actually born in England), but the fact he grew up in Crossgates and went to Beath high school I think he can be claimed for Cowdenbeath. I’ll start the campaign, forget the fact he was a Pars fan
I had the honour of being invited back to Beath HS earlier this month as a former pupil and Headboy to present awatds to the current cohort, and there is a tribute to Stuart amongst others in the reception area

Thanks for the info everyone, need to take in the derby sometime I reckon. Only had the chance to glance at the wee programme from yesterday and they had all last season’s results and attendances, there were over 300 at both the HOB/Crossgates derbies, good crowds and should make a cracking atmosphere.
As an aside, to an outsider Crossgates always gets lumped in with Dunfermline, though it always feels more like it should be Cowdenbeath (they are about equidistant I think). Maybe it’s because the village is on the Cowdenbeath side of the M90 and so close to Hill of Beath that it feels like that. Also, Beath High school is the catchment school according to wiki.
No offence intended to any Crossgates people if this is a thorny subject, they maybe don’t want to be seen as part of either.Beath HS was certainly the destination for pupils in Crossgates and as such I have always associated an alignment between Cowdenbeath & Crossgates. That said that was around 45 years ago a few changes since then, onlu one Beath HS site now and quite a bit of new house building in Crossgates, so not sure what the sittuation is now.

Get a grip. The front of shirt sponsor will not make a penny from sponsorship of Cowden. They know that full well. If they were meticulous with every pound spent on advertising the business, they wouldn't go near sponsoring a Lowland League club. I was only stating a personal preference. You guys do an amazing job for club, but you are a bit over touchy .
Not touchy at all just had considerable experience in this area over a number of organisations and sectors.
However sponsors do not sign up unless they perceive potential value. For local small businesses that may be one or two orders they would not have otherwise had to give return depending on their market. One thing they will want their money is brand awarenees, hence why we offer presence on interview backdrops etc.
Now this "a lot of fans " were free to sponsor the shirt individually or collectivelily anonymously with no name /brand on the shirt to acknowledge them at the same level or or better that the shirt sponsor. To the best of my knowledge no such submission was made. Perhaps one to think about for next season.
The whole brand and marketing and sponsorship area is and will be going forward critical for the sustainability of the club as is your and the support and the support of fanns overall.

Why? A lot of fans have the same opinion.
When you say a lot of fans how many would that be approximately?
The whole concept of a shirt sponsor is that their brand is seen and visible as is with trackside and programe web etc. particularly important for local and expanding SME's as a relativelty cost effective way to extend reach and build local engagement.

The new top would look really good without the big red and blue sponsor on the front. Wonder how easy it is to remove .
I am seldom lost for words but wow !

Thistle keeper seems a bit mince. They'll definitely need to replace him if they win this
I am surprised he is ahead of Jamie Sneddon who is a far better keeper IMHO

Cowdenbeath now against the conference.
They had expressed no view either for or against until they had fuller details of the proposition to consider the merits or otherwise. With the additional information provided they have concluded not a proposition they can support. Makes sense to me get as much detail as possible before reaching a decision which they have now done.

FC Edinburgh will go downwards as well with their moneyman selling up. No sure on Spartans finishing bottom same was said of Bonnyrigg, think it could be Elgin's turn.
Tend to agree Andy whilst potential for a number of sides to finish botom my thought are towards Elgin That said make the right appointment and bring in the correct payers who knows.

I think we will soon see some of the promoted teams heading back down. Kelty will surely struggle now the money man has left and I can't really see Spartans doing anything. I make them favourites to finish bottom of League 2 next season.
I think Spartans might surprise you wnen you closer a huge community operation at a number of levels. Their Ladies side top of SWPL B.

Those senior achievements outlined for Rovers were nearly 100 years ago, so I don't think they really have a great deal of relevance here. I would guess that in the here and now, Linlithgow are far more likely than Rovers to be an SPFL club within the next decade. Not the League titles probably more recnet than some ogf the LR cup successes

To be fair Albion Rovers have a decent history including winning a tier 2 title and Scottish Cup runners up.
Would Linlithgow beat them, it's very possible.
The Rose are in a good position, decent support, own our own ground, young squad, lots of potential.
Before Herd came in as a manger we'd been crap for several years. Football can change so quickly, bad recruitment, poor choices as manager etc.
Hopefully Linlithgow can do themselves proud in the Lowland League.
Thanlkyou a balanced logical view LR a club I respect and with potential to do well.

Linlithgow Rose blow Albion Rovers out the water,in every way .
4 junior cups, trophies left right an centre plus a support and financial backing that is far beyond Albion Rovers........
Get yourself to Prestonfield next season and you'll know what I mean, particularly if they're playing against local rivals Bo'ness United.
Same goes for Talbot,Bankies, Darvel etc etc ,the clock is now ticking on the likes of Elgin and more.
A very sweeping statement to suggest "Linlithgow Rose blow Albion Rovers out the water,in every way " and then by way of validatiom to cite their Junior achiements and thisn disregaring Rovers Senior achievements including league titlesand Scottich Cup runners up.
Fair to say also in the absence of corrobarating evidenve your comments regards finacial health of the two is at best speculative and non informed guess work.

Well in crowd terms this season Linlithgow averaged over 500 in EOS Premier (last figure I saw 508... before their last 3 games including title win and trophy day).
Albion Rovers averaged 329 in SPFL2. Spartans incidentally averaged 313 in LL.
Evidence and past experience would strongly suggest Albion Rovers will be the worst-supported of the 3 next season. Thanks for that however my question was more far reaching ub terms of definition rationale and measurement criteria part of which you address from a current day perspective.

Size of support,finance etc etc.....
So in essence you are judging on acurrent contemporary basis rather than club history and achievements overall .So that fo the clarity. Size of support assume you are basing on attendances rather than overall support i.e. excluding distant fans who cannot physically regullarly attend matces but may support in other means i.e march, lottery, sponsorship, donations and such like?
When we youch on that matter of finance I am somehat blind on that but do you have insight that confirms that one has greater resources that the other bearing in mind finances are not merely abour trading revenue bit also other activities, reservs and balance sheet net value?
