  1. Always going to be different opinions which is cool.

It looks like some clubs were pressurised by managers/players to start the season without fans, and without even consulting said fans.

I'm sorry but whatever way you dress it up I can't agree with that.

Think you need to keep up mate …… already been decided only promotion that may happen is the winner of Premier league being promoted to Lowland league if there licensed.

All the clubs that are not playing slot back into either the Premier league or conference that they abstained from.

This is where I think the decision to play on is a financial disaster for these clubs.

would be nice to know how they are managing it so that the rest of who thought it was too much of a gamble can learn some valuable leasons

And that’s exactly why we are where we are certain people trying to circumnavigate the rules at every turn

Can you not get it into your heid this virus thrives between people indoors in poorly ventilated areas

Some clubs totally ignored the guidelines for training so won't be a surprise.

It is entirely true that some miracle might occur and covid vanishes within the next ferw months to a level that allows some fans to come back. If that happens, superb! The clubs that are sitting out can awaken from hibernation and resume playing friendlies.

I like the way the North Juniors are doing it - giving clubs the option to opt out of a league cup until new year, then starting regional league football in January. That is absolute common sense. The WoS gave clubs the option to delay the start of the season. Most of those sitting out now wished to do just that - Pollok's statement for one said if a delay was back on the table we'd be listening. The 30+ who wished for it were denied that option by a relatively small margin - as we know with recent political votes, the closer it is, the tougher it is for the losing side to take.

Anyway, the die has been cast and on we go. I wish all those kicking off today a safe season.

Very well put, the fact that over 30 voted for a delay has been lost in all the sniping

Anyway the very best of luck to all going ahead, especially Kenny his heid must be bursting already and a few postponements today won't help.

The player's views don't absolve the employer from their responsibility under the Health and Safety At Work legislation.

But I'm sure it would be a welcome option for clubs, having another club take them off the wage bill for a season

    :) :) :)

To be honest I dont think clubs are wrong either way to withdraw or carry on .Its a gamble either way .

My honest opinion is the league could turn into a car crash with fixture pile ups with bad weather and covid restricions (players testing positive and local or national  lockdowns.)I know fixture pile ups  are  nothing new in our game with teams in Spring playing 3 times a week to catch up ..... but kinda defeats the purpose but of what we are trying to  achieve in restarting

Hopefully I am proved wrong and I am back to freezing my balls off watching the fitba after christmas !

    very well said.

I'm on here often and read people who are either at the windup or just jealous.

Who gives a flying feck if a team has a sugar daddy that pays for the team or a team who has a big support that pays for a  team.
What's the big deal as long as they are all teams who are in the league looking to do get as high as they can with success.

First and foremost, the MAIN reason the teams who have withdrawn this season is for finances, absolutely everything else is secondary.
I don't think there is anything wrong with teams withdrawing and I don't think there is anything wrong with teams staying.
The talk from people who state on here that certain teams will take the league to court because of NO relegation or promotion is laughable and if they do, then they are going to lose heavily because every business is having to adapt daily due to Covid.

I take it the clubs all voted for different options before the league commences,

    1. withdraw and come back next season at same level so no promotion/relegation this season
    2. all play on as normal come the 24th
    3. Shut the whole league down for season 20/21

Was there any other options on the table ?

The details of the vote are earlier in the thread, might have been better if it was as simple as 1 2 or 3 but that ship has sailed now.

  8. The reaction of the Ladeside faithful to the difficult decision in withdrawing has been very uplifting.

The thought of no football through the winter has been more than countered by the fact the club, management and most importantly the fans are in as one for the rebuild ahead.

    Mon The Side.

I think it is time to stop the attacks on both sides of the decision. Clubs have to decide what’s right for them and they have.

Good luck to those who are starting the season I really hope it goes well and that fans are allowed back in sooner rather than later and allows them to see out the entire season.

Those clubs that have pulled out will have done so with the view of not wanting to do long term damage to their club and I can understand that. They are elected custodians of their clubs and they remit is to make sure their club is still around for the future. Whether or not you agree with the decision it must have been a hard decision for them to take.

Nobody should be point scoring off of this decisions taken on both sides. It would have been the hardest clubs would have had taken.

Good luck to those clubs that are kicking off their season soon good luck and hope it goes well, and to those that are taking a year out see you in the future.

I am hoping now the decisions have been taken we can now go back to talking about football rather than bickering over something that is much bigger than all of us.

Very well put my friend was just going to say exactly the same points.

Extra sympathy for the 6 who changed their minds and the extra angst that that brings.

Think Dalry Ammies might see me on a Saturday for a bit if allowed :)

Am I alone in thinking that it is a bad choice on offer to start the season on 24th knowing that there will be no relegation or promotion - if teams are allowed to drop out this season without any "punishment" then the teams who are ready to play are playing a season without hope of progress

I believe the season should be delayed until guidance changes to allow fans etc then participation (even for a much shorter season) should be mandatory - so promotion and relegation at the end of what should be a "conference" season to establish what leagues club belong

This seems unfair but at that point the clubs who cannot participate should be in bottom league in 21/22

We need something to play for and if fans have bought season tickets it should not be for a season of glorified friendlies

    nail on the head

    So what happens if 11 clubs withdraw from the Premiership and 7, 6 & 9 clubs withdraw from Conference A, B & C ?

Do they still go ahead? Do they re-jig the Conferences. If there is no penalty for withdrawing, no promotion or relegation and no indication of fans being allowed in at any point......what motivation is there for a club to start the season?

Perhaps those who want to start with the current restrictions can enlighten us?

If they can get licensing approval like Bo'ness did last season, there is a promotion place to the LL potentially on the line this season. There's also likely to be scope for promotion for conference level teams as well for the teams that do proceed. It's highly unlikely that the new cases curve won't have passed through a peak and started to decline significantly well before the end of the season, so getting fans back is not mission impossible.

The indications are with reduced numbers in the leagues there will be no promotion or relgation and clubs withdrawing will do so without penalty, hence the term' meaningless games '

Wonder if all the teams firing ahead actually consulted with their supporters?
