  1. Get Caldwell in as player/manager. Probably still better than any of our current CBs
  2. FS, I was there that day as well. Putting this down to old age.
  3. That's who I've just linked. He was Lambert's assistant at Wolves and Falkirk are listed if you go further down to his playing career. Don't remember him as a player tbh.
  4. I'm assuming it's this Stuart Taylor. http://www.transfermarkt.com/stuart-taylor/profil/trainer/12805 Rangers U20s coach at the moment. His only real management job was about 50 games in the League of Ireland about 4 years ago.
  5. https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/raith-rovers/former-raith-rovers-star-blasts-john-hughes-over-2017-tenure-1-4747865 Went into a bit more depth on the podcast iirc.
  6. He's no saint and perhaps he's embellished some of it to make Yogi sound worse, but you surely wouldn't go on record with that stuff if there wasn't some truth in it. Even if you disregard that, his record there doesn't fill me with confidence that he could get us out a similar position. Raith should have had enough on paper to stay up, but went on a shambolic run and were ultimately sent down by that Brechin team.
  7. Anyone who thinks Yogi would be good idea need to go and listen to the Bobby Barr episode of the Pele podcast.
  8. Bear in mind Atalanta have rested about 4 regular starters. Roma have been an utter shambles at the back. Fazio and Manolas look like they've never played together.
  9. Roma completely switched off after taking the lead and it was awful defending for both goals. Not impressed with Olsen's distribution at all. End to end game though.
  10. He's a good follow on Twitter, so I'll give it a listen.
  11. Aye, it's great not having a team that's nailed on to finish below us...
  12. NTTT Championship preview was very good, but I've struggled to find the time to make it a regular listen. How frequent are Matchbook and Racing Post?
  13. I thought they still looked a little suspect defensively, but still an improvement on last season. They've got plenty firepower in the forward areas and Favre's Nice were fun to watch, so they should have a better win rate against the poorer sides in the league which would see them close the gap. Speaking of awful refereeing, did anyone see Wolfsburg-Schalke on Saturday? Nastasic got a harsh red for a high boot in a 50/50, Wolfsburg had a red downgraded to yellow which should arguably have stood and the Brooks was shown a yellow for a very similar challenge to Nastasic. Shambolic stuff which resulted in about 8 minutes added on at the end
  14. Robson has his limitations (as with any player at this level), but at least he has pace, energy and looks like he gives a f***. Bizarre that he's barely played this season and when he has, it's been as a winger.
  15. They're not far off Man City-Huddersfield last weekend. We're fucked.
  16. Disagree with all of this tbh. They've run a positive net transfer spend most seasons, usually into the millions, and are playing at a level which is above their historic average. He also took over a middling Danish side who then won their first ever title a couple of seasons ago and are now regular European qualifiers. Fair enough if you don't think it can work for Falkirk, but let's not kid on their isn't something in it for people who are smart enough to do it properly.
  17. The Brentford model quite clearly exists and for evidence that it works I suggest you read up on the owner's other club Midtjylland.
  18. This is the worst part for me. We were sold the 'Brentford model' by the CEO, but there doesn't look to be any sort of moneyball going into the signings. It's just some scout punting us jobbers from the English academies and seaside leagues. I was all up for us trying a new approach, but it hasn't been executed anywhere near well enough.
  19. Yeah, that's my worry. Think their home match in the previous leg was close to a sell-out too.
  20. Has anyone attended an Ajax match before? I'm in Amsterdam next week and fancied catching their CL qualifier against Liege. There seems to be plenty ways to buy tickets online for their league matches, but their official site (using Google Translate) suggests you need a member card for European games. Anyone know if there might be another way to buy?
  21. He's trying so hard to sound productive, but has admitted to going to the gym for a pointlessly long amount of time. What a beta
