Sevco lads talking about £10million singings..

    Belter.

If we want to win the league we’re going to need good singers.

Are we really going to compete if not one player can carry a tune?

Anyhoo, the rumour mill seems to be in overdrive right now regarding Lenny. What’s all this about Broony apparently being dropped for the Dunfermline game and fined a weeks salary? And is it true quite a few players have turned on him and despise his coaching methods?

£10m is far too much but I don't think it would necessarily be that high. Something closer to £5m would be a great option imo as having 23 year old Kent as our player next summer would be a great asset to the club for years to come.

I'm with you that a left-back is what I'm desperate for but I think we will have to wait until this time next year for that to be sorted.

£5m would be ideal and I think that's about as high as Rangers could/would go. Time will tell on that one.

You might just be right about the left back position. It may all depend on if a bid comes in for Barisic. He's a good player but maybe a bit too lightweight for this division.

Ojo will score a lot more goals than Kent did but in games where we will be counter attacking more Kent would be very useful. Jones is a similar style of player but a step down in quality despite his good start.

I'm with you that left-back comes first for me and I'm not too bothered about getting Kent on loan only. Loan to buy though would be brilliant but I'll believe it when I see it.

Agreed. 4Lads reported on Monday that Rangers were working on a loan to buy deal. But if Liverpool want £10m is it really worth spending anywhere close to that for a player who would be a slight improvement on Jones and Ojo?

I'm happy enough with the squad we have so like yourself wouldn't be too bothered if Kent didn't sign. Apart from that left back position.  That's a real concern. Gerrard must realise that though if everyone else does. I'm sure the club will bring someone in before the window closes.

I'd say Ojo is better than Kent - so far.

He's been impressive so far but I still think Kent would offer more to the team. I'd be trying to sign a left back before Kent though.

The Daily Record article is purely speculative however, and hardly an "exclusive".

The only new info they are adding is that the player may down tools to force through a move to Ibrox. I find it very hard to believe Kent thinks Rangers would want him to use this strategy. If anything that would make the chances of him signing for Rangers even slimmer as Gerrard wouldn't want this to negatively affect his rep at Liverpool or with their fans. (or ruin the chances of signing players on loan from them)

We needed a striker. Frank McAvennie was starting out as an agent and was apparently representing Wreh. For some reason, that combination didn't set off any alarm bells and we signed him. I don't think he ever started a game as Tom Hendrie claimed he was pish in training - although who knows if that was true as he also said Iain Nicolson was injured (a lot) to cover the fact the pair had fallen out.

From memory we tried to punt Wreh on loan to Darlington (this would have been just before or after they paraded Asprilla) but it fell through because he missed his train 😂

Haha, I'm surprised the chairman didn't drive him down there himself.

He must be St Mirrens highest ever earner? or very close to it.

Lavety and Mendes weren’t there then and Yardley was no longer a regular starter.

The main strike force that season was Jose Quitongo and Brian McGinty.

    No wonder we were shite!

    My mistake. Apologies.

Just checked McGinty's wiki as I wanted to know if it was the same one who was at Rangers. Not the most prolific of goalscorers according to his stats!

  6. Just the 2-0 Rangers. Not expecting a great performance with the game just 3 days after our European heroics/failure

1-0 rangers, Ricky gillies o.g. causing ac milan to drop their interest in signing him.

Haha. That’s got me thinking, what was the story behind the signing of Christopher Wreh back in those days?

KT will be hard to replace no doubt but since the left back we bought is still better than the two you have I don't see it as a problem.

We haven't signed a left back. Yet, that is. Whereas you's have gone out and signed a £3m player who apparently isn't a better defender than Callum McGregor. My guess is Lenny picks the team but doesn't pick the signings, hence expensive players not even getting a game.

Anyhoo, there's another 10 players in the team so I'm not sure why you're only focusing on the left back position. Nor am I sure why you're comparing the left back to just Rangers' left back. Us having a shitey defender won't do you much good when you're away at Aberdeen or Tynecastle for example.

I believe we have the momentum, the better team and that the championship is on its way to Ibrox.

  8. Well, the B team got a run-out and it was a comfortable victory so it's job done in that respect. East Fife didn't create much, although they probably should have scored after about 20 mins when they had a great chance in at the back post. That was some cross from the East Fife player (whose name I don't know) to set that chance up.

Helander scoring a goal and setting another up made it a perfect debut. Gerrard seems to have a habit of signing centre backs who like a goal.

In the few games Polster has played, I'm not convinced he's anywhere near the standard required to realistically challenge for a first team place.

Halliday, Kamara and Stewart didn't have the best of games but Aribo and Defoe were excellent.

I'm guessing Gerrard is happy with the team other than that left back position but can't sign anyone until Grezda and possibly Barisic have been sold.

  9. Still a very difficult task against Central Jutland tonight before we can worry about Legia. Admittedly though, I was hoping the opponents in the next round would be the team that Legia dumped out. That’s going to be a very difficult away game due the atmosphere as Tav previously mentioned.

    0-0 tonight I reckon.

The Brogueists are pyoor ragin' at Tierney's £25m transfer to Arsenal so they come up with this Baggies pish on transfer deadline day ????

They’ve just lost arguably their best player yet Rangers fans need an article about a failed bid for Morelos to cheer us up?

For what it’s worrh, I think the Tierney transfer is good for the Scottish market in general.

Who knows, Arbroath might even get £500 for a player instead of £250 :)

Unless we get an early goal it's going to be a nervy game next week, their keeper was like superman tonight and they could've scored on the break.

We need to smarten up a bit.

If only Tav had scored that penalty. He just can't catch a break against this team 😃

Were it any other minnow I'd say 2-0 is too great a deficit to overcome.

That said, last time in Luxembourg with the score only 1-0 from the first leg Progres were able to play on the counter. This time they'll need to play a much more open game. For that reason I reckon Rangers will get a goal to finish the tie as a contest.

A lot of like for like but in the case of Kent for Stewart it’s good for shite.

What position would they be playing? One plays as a forward and the other plays on the left wing so its a strange comparison.

A better comparison would be Kent and Aribo as they both play in the same position.
