It is the worst midfield out of all of them by a considerable distance, I’m not sure why you’re trying to argue that. Most of the players you named are either not guaranteed starters or are due to be punted/weren’t even in Saturday’s squad (Winks, Ndombele, Lo Celso). And you’re trying to compare them to nailed on starters for Man U for some reason.

Exactly this. Those players mentioned have all been deemed not good enough for Spurs. A Spurs team who finished 13 points ahead of Man Utd. McTominay would not be a starter for any of the teams that finished top 5 last season.

I'd forgotten that Skipp was injured rather than out on loan.

Hojbjerg and Betancur looked to be a good pairing in midfield. As you say, lots of competition now.

Spurs' recruitment has improved considerably under Conte. He's very astute and utterly ruthless.

Yeh they seem to have everything in place now to push on. Great manager, loads of cash to spend, champions league, cracking stadium etc.

Sarr, who was signed and then loaned to Metz last summer, is another arrival.

Skipp is back from Norwich too. Not sure they and Winks will fit into Conte's plans if at all. He'll want to sell at least one of them.

If Levy can sell Ndombele, Gil, Lo Celso and Bergwijn, there'll be more money for Conte to strengthen the squad.

Skipp wasn't at Norwich last season. He was in Spurs first team. Lots of competition in that area now. Winks will be first out the door along with the players you mentioned.

But we didn't need to be one of the Top 13 to qualify for the Play-Offs. We had in our group:

    Denmark 11th

...Denmark won at a canter as expected only losing (to us) in their last game having won their previous nine.

But historically we are better than Denmark. That is the main thing here. It all goes in cycles apparently.

Regarding Denmark. Unless I’m mistaken they won a major tournament (Euros) and have managed to go further at a WC than Scotland.

I’d say they are far more successful than Scotland.

Scotland qualified for two WC at the expense of Wales due to two very dodgy penalties.

I think it's probably better to just ignore him. He knows himself he is talking utter pish.

That wasn't the point you were making when you said "whit?" to a very obviously true statement.

My whit was in response to the pointless argument that was being made. This thread is about our standing in Europe. In no shape or form are we in better standing than Denmark. In 150 years of football they have been far more successful despite not even competing professionally until the 80s.

That's more or less exactly what I said, they were amateurs for over 100 years. So the initial point about Denmark being well behind Scotland for most of international football history is indeed true, and I'm still unclear why you disagreed.

Denmark are a more successful nation than Scotland at international football. That is the only point I am making. You can paint that any way you wish.

This is very obviously true, international football has existed for 150 years and Denmark were no-mark amateurs for over 100 of those. They didn't qualify for a World Cup until 1986.

Professional players were banned from playing for Denmark until the 80s. Once this rule changed it's  fair to say Denmark have left us in their wake

  9. Will be interesting to se where he goes from here. Can't see him getting anywhere near the Chelsea first team. Not sure where would be a good place to go on loan. Maybe a top Championship team. He turns 21 next week so needs to get his finger out next season wherever he is.
