  1. Yesterday was only my second half marathon after the Great Scottish Run last year. I was really looking forward to it but didn't feel quite 100% at the beginning of the race. Couldn't put my finger on it and I dismissed it as tiredness after not sleeping the previous two nights. First few miles were fine but quite energy sapping due to the heat of the sun. Managing to stick on course for a 2 hour finish. After the fifth mile my guts really started to churn and I had to stop 3 times and queue for the toilets (of which there was only 2-3 sometimes). Honestly thought I was gonna shit myself at one point! Finished in a dissapointing 2:17:51, almost 13 minutes slower than Glasgow. Congratulations to everyone who ran yesterday though. Some cracking times which I could only dream about!
  2. Absolutely splendid seeing the old Starks Park full there. I would of been 9 years old and most likely sitting somewhere along the wall in front of the main stand. Changed days indeed
  3. Turnbull and the board are running rings round the feckless balloons, Regan and Doncaster at the moment. Anyone with a couple of braincells knocking about can sense these are the desperate scramblings of men who are soon to be collecting their P45s. It'll be beans on toast for me the next few weeks after I've made my donation towards the Wick game and bought my gold membership. I'm not sure I can continue to afford any more honesty and common sense coming out of Starks Park
  4. I'm not heading up to the Wick game either but I would also be up for donating some money towards the club to help cover the costs. I've been very impressed with the board recently and definitely want to show my appreciation for the stance they've taken.
  5. Hearts' gain is Raith's loss. I'd like to thank John for all the hard work he put into the club for the past 5 years and wish him all the success at Hearts. Time for a new era in the history of Raith Rovers. Our board's on a roll at the moment so lets hope that excellent judgement continues and the right man is given the job of continuing the work McGlynn started
  6. Scottish football's been dead for years before this all came to a head, sadly. The SPL's been a closed shop and completely dominated by the Old Firm for decades. Unless you were either a Rangers or a Celtic fan, third place in the SPL was all you could realistically hope to achieve. Or perhaps the odd Scottish or League cup win. Even promotion from the first is expensive. We would have to install undersoil heating and combine that with increased policing costs offsetting any financial gain from visiting OF fans. Rangers going bust could potentially be the best thing to happen to the Scottish game in years. Perfect chance to restructure the leagues, bring in a pyramid system, merge the governing bodies and a fairer distribution of the wealth. However, Sevco being accepted in division one is completely unacceptable and should be resisted by all member clubs. If Raith vote in favour for Zombiegers joining the first division, I will not be back and I will be in touch with the club to communicate these views. It will be very, very difficult but what's the point following a sport which is corrupt and has zero integrity? I would probably go along to Murrayfield and support the Edinburgh Gunners. At least you can enjoy a pint there.
  7. In my eyes, Cameron would be the outstanding candidate for the job and less risky than promoting current players within the club. I know Daziel wasn't a brilliant manager for us but Mickey seems to have proven himself a decent young manager at Cowdenbeath. It seems to have gotten a couple of 'beath fans on here slightly concerned that McGlynn looks to be leaving anyway. I would love to see Cameron back at Starks as manager. He'll probably want to have a crack at the first with his Cowdenbeath squad plus there's a lot of work to be done to get Rovers ready for the start of the season. We've only half a squad at the moment! Those worried that Cameron's legend status could end up tainted, the same could be argued for an Ellis/Murray partnership. Good servants to the club (particularly Ellis) but completely untested at managerial level. Could be a disaster, but on the other hand, might be brilliant. They might the the new Nicholl/Harvey! I wouldn't be opposed to it, and as others have said it would keep things consistent at the club. They know the players, club, the fans and the good work McGlynn has done and would most likely want to continue it. If McGlynn does leave (and it seems to be looking that way), it will be a massive loss to Raith. He's been fantastic. I'll save my best wishes though until it's been rubber stamped
  8. Should never have released him IMO. Gutted about Laurie too. He's a Rovers stalwart. Get well soon.
