8-0 for me at the moment. Decided to do something I've never really done and thrown all my coins into building the best team possible, and she plays like a dream -

Managed to fudge my way to Gold 1 in the final game; a terrible run of form late last night meant that I needed 9 wins from 11 games today and, after investing my coins and changing from a Ligue 1 team of; Depay Atal - Ben Yedder - Martins Gueye - Mendes Bernat - Kimpembe - Marquinhos - Aguilar Navas to a hybrid team of; Werner Costa - Havertz - Bale IF Delaney - Goretzka Sandro - Kimpembe - Marquinhos - Carvajal Navas I succeeded in doing so in the final match. The teams some folk have just two weeks in are frightening - even myself, this is by far the best team I have had so early on and it's still not near the level of some I'm seeing. Bale really isn't worth the 170k coins I paid for him, but his finishing is absolutely tremendous. Simply cannot wait to get sack all in my rewards! (2 x jumbo gold rare player packs)
  3. Heartening to read that Arbroath "tried hard" today; about as much as could reasonably be expected from such a gang.
  4. Is Clyde FC the single greatest association football club in the history of the game? That's definitely not for me to say, but yes.
  5. This result comes as absolutely no surprise; Arbroath's fans bizarrely seem to think they are some sort of revolutionary part-time outfit on the basis of them cantering the weakest third-tier in at least a generation last season. This season, it's by far the strongest it has been in that time, and The Famous Bully Wee still look set to make a splash.
  6. EastEnders on anabolic steroids and Johnson's baby oil.
  7. There was a chap back in the Stuart Millar days who would shout, ad infinitum, "come on son, give the ball to Clyde!". Unfortunately, he undershot it and only came to matches when being in possession was generally bad news for us.
  8. Do people actually still watch oiled up men violently dancing? Is Vince McMahon still in charge of choreography? All answers greatly appreciated.
  9. Lennon extends his contract to May 2022. A deserved pay rise, no doubt. Great news.
  10. I knew I'd left myself exposed there - perhaps should have stipulated that such an assessment of Clyde's footballing competence was in terms relative to League Two! In any case, it's a decent signing for Rovers - a strong one, even, if the plan is for him to play centrally.
  11. Home is an okay right-back but lacks a turn of pace, which can leave him a bit exposed against quicker players or overlapping opposite numbers. He also doesn't offer much at all going forward - he was a mainstay for Clyde at centre-back in the early days of Lennon's reign until he picked up a shoulder injury, which ended his season, and he was much better there. He then hardly kicked a ball for Peterhead last season until Jamie Stevenson picked up injuries at the tail end of the campaign. I hope he gets on well at Rovers - a nice guy and a good performer for us during our transition from eye-bleedingly awful to excellent.
  12. He sounds exactly like the Dylan Dykes I played indoor fives with in PE for years; back then, I didn't think there was anything whatsoever to be taken from his style of play versus jobber goths wearing leather boots, but here we are. Pretty much your standard pro-youth midfielder, then. A trio of Gibson, Dykes and a more defensively capable type (McKernon?) might have a nice blend about it.
  13. A very wholesome, good news story all-round, this. I will never forget his emotional goodbye video when he departed for Hearts - "I am Beanos for life!".
  14. Gibson has played in a number of positions for Peterhead during the last couple of years; he quite often deputised for Paddy Boyle, who picked up a number of injuries last season, at left back. More often, he's been used both centrally (advanced and deeper) and out wide. How much success he'll enjoy with Stenny will depend on where he's used and how you're playing; if you get the ball down and have the better of teams whilst minimising his defensive responsibilities, his technical ability will shine through. As has been noted, his set pieces are exemplary, but he can be a wee bit petulant at times. If McMenamin is to persist with a 3-5-2 (or similar) then he'd probably be best-deployed at the tip of a midfield triangle. How is Dylan Dykes settling in, @Francesc Fabregas? He was in my year at school and the only previous reports I've had on him have come from a Morton fan. The people of Greenock weren't overly-enamoured with him, seemingly.
  15. Noticed that too, the boy chumming about with Allison, Duffie and Fitzpatrick? I'd imagine he's one of the two foreign lads Danny spoke of through the week. After today's game, we clearly don't need anyone else though. Send the buggers back!
  16. Surprised that Stephen Tennant wasn't on afterwards to state that Danny leathered every squad member post-match and made them lick his feet!
  17. I suppose it all comes down to personal preference, but I feel that having the VAR empowers match referees in making difficult/controversial calls one way or the other, in the knowledge that they can be corrected if wrong - along with allowing a lot more harder-to-spot infringements to be spotted, such as shirt-tugging at corners etc. I hate it in its current form because it is applied horrifically, but I support its existence and use (to a point). There are far too many problems with it right now, though.
  18. Cheap bait lazily cast a weekend ago gleefully nibbled on in the aftermath of a single positive result against Jim McInally's Peterhead; only one herring here. Too bad for Moonster!
  19. VAR in principle is a good thing, I would say - but I was (perhaps mistakenly) under the impression that it would only be applied in situations where a clear and obvious officiating mistake had been made (whether that be an incorrect call or missing something completely). The extent to which it's being called upon is a joke at present.
  20. Dumbarton FC - a pointless club, in more ways than one.
