Livingston/County/St Johnstone/Motherwell/Aberdeen fans can make their own jokes by inserting their team’s tallest, most useless player into the following punchline:

Well at least Crawford Baptie has something to fall back on since his playing and car selling careers are over!

The worse collectice officiating I've seen since the 2015 Scottish Cup semi final farce.

The offside goal decision was awful.  I was in line with the defender and he did play the ball so by the laws the linesman was wrong to flag - the ref was right to overrule and obviously wrong to give into pressure from the Linlithgow players.

The same two officials missed a penalty for Linlithgow late in the first half and there could've been a penalty to Raith early in the game but I didn't have a great view of that.

Also didn't think much of the decision to allow both clubs to play in their traditional colours. Not easy to distinguish between maroon and navy.

The foul, if it was, on Linlithgow’s 7 was just outside the box. I was very close to it and was screaming penalty at the time, but having seen the vid have changed my view.

In addition to the farce in the second half, Gullan (I think) was flagged offside in the first half when running clean through one on one and he was at least a yard onside. Not a fine night for the officials.

At the time, from a distance, I wondered about that possible pen for Rovers, but the vid suggests it was just a coming together of feet, no foul, no dive. I was close to the Linlithgow shout and thought it was a pen, but viewing now it may have been a foul, but just outside the box. And perhaps the Rose 7 did try to make sure the ref saw it as a foul or pen. As for the offside/goal/offside oh dear!

It's off. Just 4 games (from 29) in all 4 divisions still on. At the moment...

    I stand corrected.

Did the prem teams used to come in on round 4 then? Feel like they just have.

Prior to 2007/08, the big teams used to come in from round 3. That season saw the start of expansion, with 4 Junior teams then being added and thereafter Prem teams have been round 4 on (so 15 years). Recent further expansions saw prelim rounds added at the start, to whittle down the numbers.

QOS was indeed round 4 in that first expanded season.

This article says the 6 are VAR’s, with no mention of being used for general coverage, but frankly I don’t care either way. Saw Liverpool 21 times last season and as a fan in the ground detest VAR! But the Scottish Clubs voted it in and pay for the minimal camera coverage up here, so it’s here, probably to stay. Fan protests and suggested boycott are pointless.

    That’s…not right.

There’s only 6 cameras at every non-live game (7 if it’s on Alba). All are used for “general coverage”, and for VAR.

Often said here and elsewhere I'm anti VAR, and the furore from Celtic and their fans has emphasised why.

Presently, the technology used isn't sufficient to give a definitive offside or not decision, it's a simple as that. The position a piece of film is halted at to give the still image used to draw lines and decide offside is made by a human, and as such can be erroneous or manipulated.

There's been research done proving that VAR is inaccurate for offsides, I'll look for it, but the substance is that cameras filming at 50fps cannot catch exact footage to prove offside one way or another. The SFA should just show the research to Celtic and tell them to f**k off.

The FPS thing is why the English widened the line drawn, to minimise that possible error. Presumably the Scottish lines are of a similar width?

From what has been stated, as I understand it, this camera has software that can map the pitch and presumably place the players involved at their locations on the pitch so it can work out if someone is on or off. That is a model though, not reality but apparently any possible error is zero.

The fact that "VAR" cameras are also being used for general coverage (the other 18 yard cam, hence no image) is just reducing things to farce. I can see why Celtic are wondering what is going on when that detail was pointed out. Is it feasible that both cams could have been picking up the game at the time?! What would they have done then?

VAR cameras are not being used for general coverage, rather broadcaster cameras are used to enhance VAR’S view. That’s how it was described on the BBC programme a few weeks ago.

Can you be offside it the ball goes backwards? Not really getting the Spurs VAR call.

Scenes in Madrid and tbh it didn’t look like a penalty so justice done there.

The direction of the ball is not taken into account in deciding offside, so yes!

I was at  game at Livingston couple of weeks ago there were no assistants appointed and the ref wasn't interested in have the club's doing the line either

In Scotland, club assistants only flag for ball out of play at the side, nothing else and not even which side gets the throw. Ref must have decided to go without that help.

  12. It’s purely down to availability. Even with the Premier, there was a shortfall yesterday and I know of at least one game that went without. I understand fees have gone up this season, but given an amateur game pays around 50% more than the Linos get and they’re not there an hour before kick off (as is usually seen) this may not a temporary thing!

That's scandalous from the ref. 7 minutes into 5 minutes added time.

Pope's injury took 90 seconds - the ball went out for the final corner just short of 96:30. Also during stoppage time, Joelinton twice kicked the ball away after Newcastle conceded free kicks. Time for the corner to be taken was therefore completely appropriate.

Not at all - Popes injury / attempt to run the clock down, along with other time wasting (during stoppage time) saw a reasonable amount of time added!
