It would seem his hand  (No 11) is in an offside position which I think is nonsense, but that's the current ruling. Earlier WBA had one chocked off ( Lino had flagged)  as the scorer 's foot was offside: he then came back to take the chance. Two different decisions and no  doubt more work /income for the TV Refs. I would only allow it for goal line scoring/crossing challlenge a la tennis. Mind you Airdrie are never likely to be on Var TV. Chelsea have now scored and no VAR  this time. Curiously in the olden times it would be flagged because when he shoots another Chelsea player is  inactively offside!

In olden times a player where the blue cross is would be flagged offside, even if he was facing away, standing still and having a fag. I laugh when I hear fans say they wish offside was as simple as it used to be. No thanks!

You can’t play the ball with your hand /arm so how can your hand/arm be offside?
    It is utter nonsense.

In theory you can score with the green bit and therefore it can be offside. Tonight’s offside was pretty similar to Mane’s v Everton early this season. That green/red border is at the bottom end of the armpit and not related to t-shirt arm length.

No, you can't be offside in your own half but you can restart play from the position where play was stopped rather than where the offside offence took place.

You almost had it, but not quite! Being in an offside ‘position’ is not an offence. The offence is playing the ball or interfering with an opponent and that’s where the free kick is taken from. This was changed 3 or 4 seasons ago, or maybe 5 (I’ve lost track, given that last season ended prematurely and this season hardly got going at lower levels). It still causes complete confusion nowadays, from players and fans, when the kick is taken from the ‘other’ half.

I didn't even think Leicester were particularly good.

Leicester got more than they deserved from that game, but Liverpool got about the right amount. Baffled by the non offside equaliser, but Liverpool lost it big style after that. All down to them and nothing that Rogers or his team did. Apart from getting the ball in the net, of course!

Actually I change my rating to 4.5

That’s still generous for WW84 for me! Ignoring and keeping quiet about the low score (5.1] on IMDB, I persuaded my wife to watch it last night. Tempted to stop after an hour, but hoped it would improve - Nope it got worse and the flying scenes were hugely overlong, the fireworks scene was pointless, the plot was like some recent Dr Who PC boring shit. Attempts at humour (eg cows outside the office) missed the mark. The scene with Steve trying on various 80s outfits was forced and pathetic. Someone on IMDB has said it makes Justice League look Oscarworthy an while that’s a bit far fetched, it’s a good indication of how bad this was. If good old Cineworld was open, we’d probably have walked out of this. A 3 for me. AVOID!!!

I can accept that Deadpool isn't for everyone, but the bit I've highlighted in bold is, frankly, offensive, and should see you banned

And that Deadpool appearance in Origins Wolverine was suitably dealt with in the end credits sequence of Deadpool 2!

Dier’s might be seen as accidental where as Firmino’s was definitely a deliberate handball. Can only give it one way so I can see why it went to Spurs.

Regardless of the handballs, Dier was clearly fouling prior to both, so I’m baffled by the restart being a FK to Spurs!

McCrorie clocking Duffy when he came for the freekick and missed it. If Duffy had got the header rather than Elyounoussi, it was a stonewaller.
Thought we were lucky to get away with it at the time.

It's 2 players challenging for the ball...Duffy jumps into McCrorie just as much.

The last replay angle in slow mo looks like that, but for me the earlier angle at normal speed suggests he decked Duffy and it could have been a pen

Atalanta are on top of Liverpool's young reserves in defence.

Don't know why Phillips, who looks decent, is not even in the squad when there is a spare place on the bench.

Atalanta should be ahead but the finishing, apart from one shot, has been poor.

I’ve a feeling he wasn’t named in their Champions League squad (back when Virgil, Gomez etc. were fit), so can’t be added until January

East Fife are playing Sauchie tomorrow night at Beechwood Park. It'll be getting streamed to EF season ticket holders but we shold have highlights up afterwards. First time I'll have seen as play a junior or ex-junior club I think. Looking forward to it.

Any chance of a link, as I can’t find those highlights?

I remember well the time Alex Ferguson took Aberdeen to Anfield expecting to give them a game. The game at Pittodrie was 0-0, and I think that was the first leg, but anyway, they had high hopes of beating Liverpool. It finished 4-0 and even Jocky got a goal. More Scots were probably cheering on Liverpool that night than Aberdeen.

It was actually 0-1 in the first leg (Terry McD). I remember it well, but especially the second leg, 3 days before my wedding to an Aberdonian. As a then 9 year supporting Liverpool supporter (since unusually we got live FA Cup Final action IN Scotland, in 71 when Arsenal beat them in ET) I had great fun with the relatives.

Supporting English teams is very much based on who were doing well at that time. When I

was at high school in the 70s one younger guy used to call me Liverpool, as I was the only supporter in the school. Many of the rest were Leeds, Chelsea & Arsenal (ManU were in the second division for some of that period).

  12. Jojo Rabbit 8.5

watched it last night, for the second time and it was even better than before. Brilliantly scathing of Nazis specifically, but racism, intolerance and blind faith in general. Great comedy at times, but also hit lots of emotional beats and well acted all round, not just by Scarlett Jo, who had a best supporting nomination. Well deserved Oscar for the writer, director, actor, the very talented Taika Waititi. If you haven’t seen his other stuff, I’d also highly recommend What we do in the shadows and Hunt for the wilderpeople.
