  1. Would agree re the new Amorphis, it starts off well but becomes increasingly dull as the album wears on. It needs a haircut. Morbid Angel's latest offering on the other hand is a pile of rancid shit. Wtf happened to this band!
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkgSca8lWdU Tune!
  3. Ghost sounds great on the first few listens but i've been left entirely underwhelmed by Decon, it aint a touch on the Strapping Young Lad heavy stuff. 3 out of 4 aint bad for the Devin Townsend Project though.
  4. Aye, so confirmed now for Dec 5th in SECC with Bring Me the Horizon, Devildriver and Darkest hour (The 8th Plague [Poss album title?] Tour). I'll prob go to this as MH are outstanding live and DD are also damn entertaining. Never heard DH and would watch BMTH out of curiosity. Just realised that's the night before Trivium as well, metal week!
  5. Next few gigs: Flogging Molly 25/8 Kvelertak 24/11 Frank turner 25/11 Mogwai 22/12 An Opeth tour before the end of the year would round things off nicely.
  6. Out of curiosity, was Download busy?
  7. Let's face it they'll probably play 4-5 times here over the next couple of years. That song was pretty meh, hopefully the album is much better.
  8. That Opeth album cover is a bit shit but doubtless the music will be jaw-dropping as per/
  9. Whilst DOTF is normally quite good and i'll prob end up attending, announcing the dates without at least one of the bands seems a bit premature to me.
  10. Deconstruction has leaked. Will deffo take a few listens to get into. Earthtone 9 on Thursday is gonna be beastin, and Maybeshewill too - their new album is a cracker
  11. Wtf has happened to The Haunted? I recall when they were particularly solid thrash band whose output was consistently aggressive and engaging. However their latest album really is a crock of shit. Biggest disappointment of the year so far for me, it sounds like poorly written nu metal trash.
  12. Devin Townsend was fantastic in the Garage tonight - one of the best I've been to in a while. Highly recommend all of his music.
  13. This gig could be a classic. The support - Maybeshewill, The Ocean etc complete a great lineup. I cant wait
  14. That type of shite gives metal a bad name. Full of ideas, none of which are particuarly good. f**k.
  15. Mogwai & Twilight Sad in Edinburgh - fuckin beezar!
  16. "QOTSA to play several shows in special venues across the UK pre summer to support the re-release of their debut album on Domino Records." From Zane Lowe's twitter. Could be quite good - if they play stuff mostly from the debut album.
  17. My plan is to buy Sonisphere briefs and apply for the free Nova Rock tickets allowing me to see Big 4 and SOAD. It seems that Sonisphere will do anything in their power to screw over Download.
  18. Whilst my interest in metal has cooled somewhat over the last few months there is always space in my listening week for Opeth, Met and LOG. My first Opeth experience was in the Garage on the Deliverance/Damnation tour whilst I first saw Metallica in Dublin, 2003. I popped my Lamb of God cherry at the QMU in 2005 i think. Devildriver supported that night and it was particularly brutal.
  19. Surprisingly. I was shocked by how good they were - really rolled back the years.
  20. Sounds good. I'm going to see them ra morra in Tuts so should be great. I'm fairly sure that French mob were supporting on the last tour - they were awful that time as well. Other gigs upcoming: Thee Silver Mt Zion Memorial Och - Art School Twilight Sad - ABC Russian Circles - Captain's Rest Idlewild - ABC Slayer! - Barras!
  21. How many plays did this years xmas no 1 get? It's been conspicuous by its absence from many playlists this wk I feel.
  22. Porcupine Tree, one week from today. Good fucking times.
