  1. Yes, because the entry in the Challenge Cup was clearly just a route into the pyramid despite "just being a one season experiment", and ever since then jts been a constant push to get into the league system.
They finally found scab clubs willing to allow them in the pyramid "as a one season experiment" and now the next step will be either getting promotion allowed from the Lowland League, or yet again pushing League Two sides to accept them.
If that ever happens, the next step would be preventing the Colt sides from getting relegated down the pyramid, by shutting the door.
Have you just been ignoring the whole Colt situation for the past decade? They've not exactly been shy about what they intend to do.
Look, I don't doubt the strength of your conviction that it's 'a foot in the door mate, but stacked against the fact that's its formally agreed to be one season, you're banging on with no tangible point. Unless they occupy K Park and refuse to leave, they're gone after the season.
  2. We built up a bank balance of over £1m when we were in the league below them, m8, and since then have brought in £2m+ from transfers, well over £20m in terms of prize money, and still run at a profit.
"Living off the blue/green pound" is the kind of chat you get from knuckle headed OF fans, but I guess fans of Berwick are now on that side of the fence...
Yawn, you're '100% convinced' and your chum 'doesn't buy it' Love to go to court with you two jokers.
  3. The Old Firm have been trying for years to get their Colts in the SPFL setup and it's been rejected time and again by the SPFL clubs.

The LL given them a foot in the door one level below the SPFL has got everyone livid.

Once they are in the pyramid setup it is going to be much more difficult to dislodge them. I don't buy into it only being for 1 year, they haven't been trying to get in for years just to accept a 1 year trial. They want their Colts in the Championship not the LL.

There are other reserve teams in the current pyramid but they are stuck in the bottom tier of their region and can't progress any higher. The Old Firm Colts jumping in at tier 5 especially when there is so many teams in tier 6 waiting to get in has also pissed everyone off.

I'm surprised any club keen to get promoted to the SPFL is in favour of it as they must realise it will harm their chances of getting any more promotion/relegation to the SPFL.
So it's not for a year because you don't buy it? It's minuted, it's a fact. It's only for a year. Might you buy it now, or does one buy you are hard of thinking?
  4. Hopefully a shite season awaits for the king scabs of Scottish football.
It wasn't worth it and it never will be.
Do you mind if I ask what impact the colts potentially being in SLFL has on St Johnstone? Entitled to spread random bile of course, just wondered why?
  5. You are seeing words I didnt say.
Clearly there wont be hundreds but thats still the level of puddle drinker that your club has decided to suck the boaby of.
What a strange analogy, clearly one that's quite literal for you. Each to their own.
  6. After the scenes in Glasgow yesterday I hope you and all the other scab clubs get liquidated at some point during the season.
Imagine voting to allow that to turn up at your door.
So on one hand, SLFL clubs are deluded if they think they'll see increased turnstyle revenue, and now they'll be deluged by hundreds of thugs.
  7. Rangers starting line up yesterday included not a single player available for the Scotland national team. This is how many weeks after they actually won the league? All the games since then have been opportunities to see how their own young highly rated Scottish players fare up against full time pros. Every opportunity for them to play some of their young Scottish talent. Why didn’t they if they are so keen on developing talent for the good of the Scottish game?

    Actions speak louder than words.
It'd be a fair question if they weren't trying to go a full season unbeaten. It'd also be a wee bit disrespectful to the other clubs with their own targets if they played a 'weakened' side. Coincidentally an argument against the colts, if they did the same in SLFL.
  8. Seems fair to me.

Berwick just banned me from their Facebook page for calling them out on their disgraceful decision. The worst thing I said in the comment was that I hoped they would never get back to the SPFL. Changed my mind now, hope you go bust.
  9. For all the Brechin bashing I’ve been involved in, hoping for them to go down etc - I would be genuinely delighted if they survived relegation again because the SPFL barred Kelty and all the other Lowland league teams until the colts are sent packing.
So we've always bashed the old firm, were bashing Brechin, are now bashing the clubs who voted yes and are trying to legitimise bashing the one club that abstained (but may bash Brechin less) #basherupdate. I'll be so glad when fitba starts again and we can resume just loving our clubs.
  10. This [emoji106][emoji122][emoji122]

I also fully back scrapping the playoff for 10th in league 2 there should be 2 down to allow the HL and LL Champions promotion. We’ve been victims of the Premiership having a closed shop and this self preservation needs to stop. The very least should be HL/LL play off winner promoted, loser then gets a play off against 9th so League 2 relegates 1.5 same as every division. I’d prefer every league relegated 2 as 9th place shouldn’t give you a chance to save yourself.
  11. When based at Ochilview, the snack bar for East Strirlingshire matches was peerless. The ladies who ran it sold home made sausage rolls of utterly eye-rolling quality. The pies and home made soup was also outstanding.

  12. Jason Leitch said on Saturday that he expected the sequence (of allowing fans back) would likely start with local small clubs with small stadia, where fans can walk, cycle or drive; not risking large numbers on public transport. He thinks 'that's the way the order will go'

Unfortunately he also said we're 'not quite ready yet' But positive vibes for SLFL perhaps. Listen from 16 mins in, very well described with typically sound context.

Let's hope something workable comes out of this,

  13. I really admire the ambition and the stadium design from the outline planning consent in 2017. Looks fantastic! I can't see any building warrant approvals or even applications that should be on the South Lanarkshire Council Building Control page. Do you have a link? Starting on site might not be too soon unless the devco get their skates on [emoji106]

The new stadium isnt just there as a home for ekfc.
It will also be home to east kilbride boxing, with a fixed boxing ring and gym. A fitness and wellbeing suite.
There is also a sports hall for the use of basketball, netball, 5 a sides, indoor cricket, indoor bowling.
There is also rooms for fitness classes, dance classes and parent and toddler groups.
They will be running there sunday club for kids from here.
    A food and drink kiosk.
Its looking to be a community hub.

A white elephant? Im not so sure.
  14. Teams have played the matches, invested in the season. Some with success, some without. That’s part of football. Take away promotion and relegation, take away everything we have played for, and not much is left. And if Corona second wave comes next March, will we void again?
Playing and investing, with success and failure IS part if football; if all the games have been played. An arbitrary you go up and you go down without anyone having the chance to succeed or fail through actually playing all the games is just wrong.

I don't know what we should do if we get Covid-20, or any other disaster. Right now, I just think you either play all games or void.
  15. Surely the only fair thing to do is cancel this season and start it all again. Ok, the cut and dried winners, like Celtic, Dundee Utd and Cove, will not be too happy but relegating clubs, when they still have fixtures to enable survival, is just wrong in terms of the financial losses they'll take. For some clubs in the lower divisions with low cash reserves, it could mean bankruptcy. Sadly, with players to pay and no more matchday revenue, Covid-19 might seriously risk that already for some.

  16. I quite agree but since 2006 ?????
And has been quoted less than 5 weeks before we start again and currently we have enough players for a 5 a side
Players are pretty much a necessity for the coming campaign. I never mentioned promotion, but as we are talking about another season a less embarrassing one than last season will do me
Jings, 2006, I know, we all feel the pain; it's been hard re-setting 'personal targets' we all talk about pre-season, from promotion, to play-off, to survival. I saw some really exciting prospects in the 20's a season or so ago: and now, no reserve team.

It's where we are. We either accept it, work effing hard together to stop the rot and re-set the trend from decline to improvement: or use our energy on angst over unrealistic expectations.

I'm actually looking forward to setting them again, once we all know who we have in the squad.

    Cooler heads prevail; eventually.
  17. Just a plea to A believer

We were patient with the last 10 seasons or more, we were patient with Johnny Harvey. When is the time not to be patient.

I feel we are where we are because we've been way to accepting in our situation and expecting better to come to us.

Time now to rattle boxes, kick ass whatever it takes to get something done

The football industry is one of results, knee-jerk decisions motivated by the desire for immediate success. With the notable exception of Man U and Sir Alex.

Do you really think the Club is, or will be soon, in a position to deliver immediate promotion? Even with agitating cuboids and kicking bottoms?

  18. My point was investment, usually, if you have money to invest, you want a seat on the board to ensure your cash is being spent correctly, that gives you a vested interest in the team and if required you might have do dig deep again, I don't think investing in a football club is for the faint hearted, so fair play to all those who are willing to put in. AB I understand what you are saying but unfortunately cash is king. Today, you will only get out of this league if you invest in the team, that is the sad reality, sadly the days of a sportsman of any type,  playing for a club through loyalty are long gone.

The boards approach in bringing in Pikey and Sarah McMorn is admirable, who are tasked with seeking external funding , the proof of the pudding will be in the eating, but what happens if they fail to get significant investment into the club,  relying on the hope of investment is not investment, you need committed individuals who will come on board to invest and buy into the clubs strategy (if they have one other than the new stadium), begging for a few quid is helpful but not enough.

BRFC are similar to many clubs whether they are League Clubs, LL, EoS, right down to the North Northumberland league and below, they are all run well and rely on volunteer involvement, undoubtedly, there are good people who are unsung heros at BRFC any one of them could sit on the board in the same capacity of Pikey and Sarah, sadly, you can work as hard as you like, but you will fail to get promoted without team investment.

We're on the same page DL, both hoping that the new board which is developing, and will grow with more people with complementary acumen.

You're point is well made 're investors wanting a say in how the money is spent. I would say, I would support that if an investor/ group came up with the £200k plus that would be needed to allow us to compete. Less than that and it'd be bickering over scraps.

I do think that when JB and the Operations Group get their teeth into turning our model from a legacy loss-making one, to at least a break-even one, it stands to reason we become more attractive for investors. I'm a believer....[emoji6]

  19. Sorry AB you've missed my point, its not doom mongering or pointing fingers, my point was that time is ticking away, I have accepted the new regime, although I don't agree with Bell's appointment and his approach (I do hope he keeps commenting in his own name on here, cos that is proper entertainment). I did wish them good luck, however, we need to put a competitive team on the park, that means signings that would do a job for us, so far we have heard nothing, disappointing as it may be, we have no choice but to "wait and hear" unfortunately a "this is what we have done" statement will undoubtedly be to late.
DP states Yano is a excellent coach, which he may well be, but, on the contrary, he was responsible for WW finishing position last season, take a look at his record, he was in charge, so the buck stops with him, no question.
At the end of the day, we all want to see a competitive team on the park and I wish Yano well, however,  the man needs players, but players cost money, money comes from investment, investment usually comes from board members, board members currently in office, don't seem to collectively or individually want to put their own money in to start the cycle, this my friends, has been my point from the start, current and previous directors just wanted the kudos to say they were BRFC directors, correct me if I am wrong, but it is a long time since any director stumped up a reasonable sum for investment in the playing squad (which should have happened at Christmas and we may well have not been relegated).
Recently, I understand the club had £80k in the bank, £60k to come from the SFA in terms of season one parachute payment, Speedway income, whatever the Supporters Club are able to donate,  plus Sponsors income for the new season (which could be less owing to relegation) surely, if these sums are correct, they should have a reasonable pot to sign players, tell me why they haven't made any notable signings, there has to be a reason?
You're absolutely fair in much if what you say here DL; we all hurt deeply at the horrible end off the season and desparately want a competitive group of players. My reading us that if the board had some good news on signings, we'd know about it.

Having difficulty attracting good players to the club is nothing new; it's just got even tougher given our new league status and, righr again, it's still down to money.

Where I kinda differ, if I may, is your belief that a critical qualification for a Company Director is a sack of cash to invest. For me it's commitment, desire to succeed and business acumen to underpin a sound strategy in close collaboration with the other Directors. Personally, if people with none of the above, except a sack of cash and little business sense, occupied any Board, I wouldn't be investing in that company.

The Board statement gave the credentials of the two new directors in relation to seeking to secure external funding, and that ambition works for me. I'll be doing all I can to help and support them.

Given the war chests already in place at other LL clubs, I'm worried too that we're probably struggling to sign players, but its not a surprise. We're playing catch up, and all I can see ahead is the need for patience to allow the financial and squad rebuilding to take place.

I'm just not sure you're the patient type Mr Lodger.
